- What perfect timing for Fender to be releasing a replica of Jerry Garcia's legendary "alligator" Strat guitar! The guys were lucky enough lucky enough to spend some time with the original backstage at The Greek this weekend with Tedeschi Trucks Band. See it in all of its glory, and hear some clips of Dave and Susan playing!

This is just too cool. A true '55 strat in that great of condition, body and neck. I love, especially with all the Jerryesque mods. The Europe '72 recording are some of the most sacred and beautiful tracks IME. Love it!!!
Special guitar.....still being enjoyed! Best part is watching the smiles on all these guys faces when they play it.

I was at the show at The Greek in Berkeley. Hidalgo played West LA Fadeaway, NFA>Bertha with it. So much fun!
I can only guess that Jerry's looking down from above with a smile and a nod.
He is looking down and thinking of how much 420(pun here) would have covered mortgage payments back then.
Yeah he was good friends with los lobos. Did a few shows with them on his off time.
I just like seeing Derek with a Strat. I'd love to hear him play it IRL.

Ever since I started teaching myself to play way back in '90 when I was 9.....
I had my favorite bands as I grew up...
The Grateful Dead was and is my favorite...
I remember getting "Europe '72 " when I was 14 and absolutely loving Jerry's tone and playing on those albums....and it's still one of my favorite legendary Fenders

These bands have just been killing it together this summer. What a great tour that combination has been. I caught them at Wolftrap in July and it was the best concert I had seen in years...it was the ONLY concert I had seen in years! It was a great way to celebrate the end of lockdown.
Aligator has been getting around this summer; fender guitars just introduced an exact Alligator replica from their custom shop that looks pretty sweet; the sticker for it is $20k if you want one for yourself.
