My little sister was killed in a car crash 3-11-17. Take nothing for granted and tell people that you love, you love them as often as possible. Thank you for making this. I felt it in my bones, heart and soul. I've lost so many for the past 8 years. My best friend and her unborn child were killed by a drunk drier in Oct 2011. My world shattered. I couldn't breathe, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep. But just as I started slowly working through it...another close friend was killed by drunk driver that Feb. Was just I was already down and getting kicked again. Nearly lost two other close friends in that crash. But with faith and loved ones, I slowly got up and limped along. Helped others who were grieving because I had been there. Still was a day to day struggle but I was recovering bit by bit. I did outreach with friends, I met the love of my life, I started a non-profit with my mom working with autistic adults like my brother. Fast-forward to Oct 2017 and I get home from working at a haunt at a theme park. Find out a friend died of an overdose. Possibly suicidal. I cried in my car because I didn't want to worry my mom. Picked myself up again. Mourned. Then this year, Christmas Eve, a beloved cousin, a mother and grandmother died in an apartment fire. I finally sought out therapy. I have PTSD and Anxiety but it took my 8 years to go to therapy. I'm engaged now. A week ago my best friend lost her dad. A man I've known practically my whole life. And I am working on being there for her while also not letting this loss crush me again. Sorry for the long post. Just wanted you to know I can relate. And it helps my broken heart mend a bit more when I hear songs like this. Purposeful. Honest. Thank you, Lady. Bless.

So I just found this girl today. Going through all of her tracks. This took painful breaths from my body I wasn't willing to make. If I hadn't had it on shuffle across the room I would have probably skipped it. I try avoid feeling too much. My ex husband was a Marine and we lost a lot of close friends. One of them was my best friend's husband he was like a brother and he made my best so happy. He died in a car accident when they were on they're way back from being on leave. The first tattoo I got was a memorial for him and I've refused to get anything else that could lessen the meaning of it. So I've only gotten one other for my twin for when we're apart now that we're adults and can't be together all the time.
Anyways this song is on point because, it conveys the pain of losing somone both in lyric and sound. It's almost got this muted musical approach. It's kind of monotoned nothing too high or too low. She keeps the notes kind of close together in range. If you've lost someone especially someone close you're world loses a lot of color and when you hear sound it's almost like you're under water. You kind of can tell what someone is saying but, it's convoluted and it's not really reaching you. It's just minor noise that floats away from concious thought. Her words are painfully accurate. I found out that friend died on facebook. I thought it was a joke because, me, his, wife, him, and all his friends played Call of Duty together online. So when I saw RIP everywhere I was thinking he failed bad while playing with some friends that day. It wasn't until his aunt told me what was up that the confusion cleared up.
This song was painful. It pulls apart at things we don't like thinking about but, all understand as humans. Art reflects life and grief is one of the biggest parts of that. This is a meaningful tribute to a friend as well as something beautiful for surviving family and friends to hold onto. I don't care for the emotions it brought out but, that's what makes it exceptional because; I didn't get a choice to feel them or not. Her grief resonates with the observer and for a moment it becomes the observer's grief as well.
