- Our next day living on the road in the Philippines took us to the world famous, beautiful Banaue rice Terraces! I knew it's a UNESCO world heritage site but I was still not prepared for THIS view!!
It was also my first time ever in Ifugao Province and the road leading there was equally beautiful. Even the extremely cold night (camping in the clouds) couldn't ruin this amazing experience!!

I'm Susie and I was born in Hungary. Although I used to live in the Philippines for 4 years, I spent an unexpectedly long time back in my home country due to the Pandemic.
2022 has brought the change I've been waiting for and now I'm back in the Philippines to further explore the local life and the country's beautiful destinations, food, and culture
Banaue rice terraces are the most beautiful and breathtaking view by far. I have wanted to go there for a long time, but it never happened and it broke my heart. I'm glad because of you and Jonathan It feels like a wish come true. Take care and God Bless Always.

Absolutely beautiful....the scooter ride is challenging for sure but it paid off when you reach your destination where everything you see is breath taking and world class

Labong (bamboo shoots, also called "rabong"/"dabong" in other parts of the Philippines) is one of my favorite vegetables. I can't believe it's your first time trying it. 😅 I like how it remains crisp and crunchy, and how well it absorbs flavors.
@Angry Kittens - Hello! Happy March to you & yours🙂. I believe i was wrong in my initial comment; I'm sure Susie has even cooked on this channel with bamboo shoots, she has no doubt eaten it many times i think saw her have some at Mama Belinda's restaurant bday outing now that I think about it; & she has def prepared adobo, more than once on the vlogs. But adobo varies so widely depending on region & preparer/chef! It's incredible sometimes that we recognize each other's adobos, they can be so different tasting. Maybe that's why she seemed to say the dish was unfamiliar to her....

I think I had bamboo shoot if it was ever part of a lumpiang gulay or something similar I ate haha... But never a meal exclusively made from it. It also didn't really taste like adobo or at least not adobo I've made so far. It was just like a yummy snack reminded me of a chips from my childhood. It really seems to absorve the tastes so well 😍
@@SusieinthePhilippines If it was in lumpiang gulay, it was probably ubod (heart of palm). They're similar to bamboo shoots in texture, but ubod is usually slightly sweet.
The way we cook bamboo shoots in our family is usually with sardines in tomato sauce. Very simple dish. But very tasty.
@AK I put bamboo shoots in many entrees, not necessarily specific Philippine recipes, but like stir fry’s . I haven’t added bamboo shoots to sardines though so I’m gonna do that post haste! My family mostly all luv sardines. It is such a blessing to me becoz for me a nice hearty sardine entree is just so easy peasy to prepare. Well prolly for everybody, but many of my ‘nonPhilippine adjacent’ friends & family have no clue how to approach sardines lol! Back to Susie, AK you are correct I’m sure she has def eaten jack fruit, & as a meat sub not just as a fruit per se. I remember her mentioning different meat subs in a vlog & jack fruit was one. It was a market vlog, love those😊. But I thought too that they ate bamboo shoots on camera, like in Chinatown Veggie Restaurant….but no reply needed again Susie & AK, this is quite esoteric SUSIE IN THE PHIL vlog territory! I can always research wen I have some extra viewing time🙂

you should have passed by Batad rice terraces in Banaue. i find the Batad amphitheater style terraces also beautiful. you would hike through the rice terraces to Tappiya waterfalls. Batad rice terraces is my favorite place to go to. there are many backpacker inns in banaue. in batad, i stay at Simon’s Inn & restaurant. try their homemade pizza there. i love camping too!
It was our plan! But since it was freezing we decided to continue to Kalinga. But it gives us reason to go back I really wanna see Batad and the falls. 😍

Go to banaue during summer otherwise its rainy and cloudy.

You should have left turn 1st before the ibulao bridge and gone to see the Yamashita shrine in Kiangan its only 5kms away there then turn back straight to Banaue

I hope you can visit! It's so beautiful 😍
I think camping is not advisable on that area if you don't have proper equipment for cold temperature, you'll freeze the whole night and even morning till 9am. 😁
