Completely wrong, we kill Radahn to release his eternal suffer from rot madness. Causing him mad was one of Miquella plan, he wasn't choosing it. Then we kill him again to release him from being an eternal slave from Miquella. We're his Savior, twice

He was never a slave to Miquella. Everyone who thinks that misinterprets the lore, badly. The Japanese version makes it even more clear that this is what he wanted, in case Freyja who knew him personally outright saying so wasn't enough... somehow.

    • @blackmist4981
      @blackmist4981 Před 2 měsíci +79

@TheStraightestWhitest yet there is no evidence that he ever promised by his own will, also he ,,promised'' him still in childhood so it could have been careless and he just blindly accepted it as his brother, when being older he got his own rune and ambitions so he changed his mind, plus why would he hold the stars if he really wanted to become his promised consort, pretty sure he didnt care about ranni's or rykar's fate, remember he is carian too so stars have big significance for him, at last there is his fight with malenia, before he went mad because of the rot, he was most likely asked by malenia to fulfill his promise and become the promised consort, if he would wanted to become the consort, he would politely say yes and no fight would occur, yet they fought together and she infected him with the scarlet rot so he evenutally dies and it's guaranteed, still his great rune resisted the rot and he lived even in madness so he would not die, even if some lore is
misinterpret cuz of inaccurate translation, there are still tons of facts and details that just completely disproves that he wanted to become the consort

Its crazy if you really think about it, the possibility that Marika was actually the hero. The two fingers practically formed their own Golden Order under the false pretense of it still following the Greater Will. What if Marika realized this and she revolted? She realized it was all a lie.

    • @alfalldoot6715

Shattering the elden ring caused a civil war that killed countless, not a hero.

    • @randomguy_069
      @randomguy_069 Před 2 měsíci +92

@@alfalldoot6715 Marika understood that removing death and other things didn't do well for the world and by that she came to understood that problem was with Two Fingers.
Only other person who was able to get similar understanding was Ranni. She used fragment of death rune to kill her body and soul of Godwyn the Golden. And how she got Fragment from the hound of Marika while living peacefully after that? It was help from Marika in some way. And this led to Shattering.
So things happened like this. Marika became a God of the world with the help of Greater Will. Later she got to know that Greater will can't even communicate and she was following the whims of two fingers who lost their purpose long ago. She sent a part of her as Radagon and learn things from only Empire of magic which Resisted her rule, Carian. In Talismans it is mentioned that Radagon did learn the magic arts and other things Marika learned. He learned about glintstone sorceries and primeval currents and then went back to Marika. His children with Rennela were given title of Demi Gods when he became Elden Lord.
Then Marika decided to start her plan of Shattering. Golden Order was all about Erdtree making every life form eternal in some way by removing death. She just couldn't add death back in and most probably Two Fingers had power over her too. So she decided on shattering the ring and got punished for this. This implied that even at her level she was not some super powerful being who could do anything. Since her powers came from Greater Will and Two fingers had a hand in it they had power over her.
Simply stating. She understood that world is a mess but she can't solve it. She was also a ruthless person in many ways so didn't care about her own children so by using Shattering she sent world into chaos and doubt, and by time Tarnished came back two fingers decided to use players to mend the ring. Marika wanted a chance to appear where someone could solve the Elden Ring issue and Tarnished chosen by Two Fingers happened to be best bet.

The fact that radahn saw Messmer and Gaius as elder Brothers and the Commander beign One of the eldest scholars of the alabaster lord, could change the order in which marikas children were born:
    W/Godfrey: Godwyn, morgott, mohg
    W/radagon: messmer, melina, malenia, miquella
    W/rennala: radahn, ranni, rykard
This order Is also reflected by morgott, during his intro cutscene.
However, even if the "AS" Is ambiguous, this could explain how Radahn's aunt, Rellana, sided with messmer.
While the war against the Giants Is about to end, Radagon, One of the Champions of the erdtree during this war, could have started the First liurnian war. At the same time, the union between Marika and radagon starts to take Place while Godfrey Is banished. In this situation the four "pathenogenetic" sons were Born.
Each of em Is cursed at birth:
    Messmer - Serpent and Fire
Melina - Destined death and Fire
(Lets notice that both have their Powers sealed in the eyes)
    Malenia - Scarlet rot
    Miquella - eternal childhood
Talking of metyr, i think that Ymir has a good point: since she's unable to communicate with the Greater Will, the 2 fingers She births are faulty, hence theyre unable to interpret the correct messages of the outer God. This way each empyrean After Marika will NEVER act according to the GW's Plan and even Marika starts to drift from It. However, only through this problem, these beings aquired the free will, something that no other outer God follower has.

My only gripe would be, that its unlikely that "consort" in the context of relation between a god and their lord means spouse.
Its more likely that its meaning is the obsolete version, which is a more general companion or someone to be in harmony with.
I think so because a) Elden Ring likes its archaic English, b) being a spouse never comes up during any cases we know, except Marika and Godfrey and c) its seems that the really important thing is that there has to be a god and a lord representing/accompanying said god.
It seems that romantic relationship, while possible, is not expected/considered.
Which makes sense, considering we are talking about godhood and such, romance seems incredibly trivial, however funny the Miqq femboy memes may be.

I think the ghosts in Castle Sol were supposed to reflect the idea that Miquella's bewitching would even have a hold on its victim after death.
By all accounts of the story, Godwyn was bewitched and Miquella loved his brother because he was his means to power and it was a tremendous loss; Radahn was not some loyal consort, he was just another of Miquella's playthings and just like the ghosts at Castle Sol, his very soul is now owned by Miquella, which is also why Godwyn's soul death was so grievous for Miquella because it meant his bewitching was over and his soul was free, whether Ranni knew or not I don't think matters.
Radagon could of been the part of Merika bewitched or Atleast the bewitching of Merika forced Radagon into existence possibly and what we see as current day is just Miquella holding together what's left bewitched... I think this whole story is just Miquella bewitched everyone he could and just said fuck it I'm on one and removed the rune of death so he could just own everyone's soul forever.

Maybe this explains the dead fingers on the pillar, Godwyn's fingers would have to be killed before Miquella could bewitch him, which is why Ranni has to flee once they are gone.

Awesome video! It totally didnt realize consort radahn was fused with mohgs body. Like he even uses a similiar attack in which he swipes his sword leaving a delayed flame burst just like mohg does with his hand in one of his attacks. 🤯

The writing is all over the place tbh. The visuals, the gameplay, the animation ... the overall experience ... its all top notch, no question. But their writing has always been thisi disjointed story with moving parts that are developed individaully and that actually begin mostly with cool visual concepts that are then later given their story and fitted into the whole story togather. And sometimes it works, but sometimes id does not. That is why Messmer story, character feels so random, even in the DLC, almost as an afterthought. He seems to be the overall sotrys later addition. Also, The Putrescent Night is originally tied to Gloam-eyed Queen, but now it was later sort of fitted into the St. Trina narrative. And thematicly and visually it seems off.

Big spoiler ahead, if you watched the video you already know, but just a warning.
I liked the dlc but you’ve gotta admit radahn as the final boss was kind of lame
It really should’ve been godwyn from a lore and gameplay perspective, I have a couple ideas on how they could’ve made that work, have us fight his soulless corpse while miquella attempts to resurrect his soul and in phase 2 we finally battle the strongest of the demigods before the shattering, with some gross fish body parts because he’s gross now.
Yknow that just feels more interesting to me, I like the radahn fight enough by itself, but it’s incredibly weak as a final boss, maybe just have us sent back in time for that “prime radahn experience” because the fight was fun, just felt anticlimactic and disappointing especially when I found radahn to be super interesting in the main game, and I find him less interesting now because of how lacklustre the use of him in the dlc feels. I dunno, feels kind of like a ramble here, but I hope others agree with me here.

I had a thought and maybe us, the tarnished was Marika's last attempt to create a new age after realizing the greater will was simply leading her on. She realized warriors like Godfrey were truly the only ones capable of tearing it all down and in the end she was right

I hoped for more alternate endings from the DLC.
Like the mother of fingers giving us one at least.
I was also sad to discover that the idea of peace from Miquella was basically 'peace comes from me controlling everything and everyone's mind', like a mad dictator.

Probably gonna sound weird, but the Putrescent Knight is probably my favorite boss in the DLC. It’s just such a weird design and a pretty enjoyable fight

I subscribed because I really want you to explore and research the lore involving the Living Jars, all the Gaols in the DLC, and the Laboratory in Messmer’s Castle that display the experimentation and horrors involved.

Honestly many did guess that Miquella was somewhat evil. It was stated that he had many outer gods eyeing him, and he somehow managed to quell the scarlet rot, which meant he somehow stopped an out god from tarnishing his sister. He learnt all of the golden order incantations and improved upon them, only to leave for the halligtree. I don't remember who, but an NPC also mentioned that he was the most fearsome demigod of all.

I believe Radahn accepted the vow, what the vow was is still up to speculation but there is a theory I like. The reason why I believe this is from the Miquella cutscene, Miquella asks that if he uphokds his side of the vow that Radahn would be his Lord. This implies that Radahn said yes but only under a certain condition. Though one could make the argument that Miquella becoming a God was his part of the vow, but I dont believe that. What I believe is that Radahn pitied his younger stepbrother who Idolized him so, and upon hearing Miquella's "innocent request" Radahn could not brung himself to outright say no. So Radahn gave Miquella an impossible task, to defeat him, Miquella was alright with this as Radahn had to die anyways to actually get into the land of shadows. Everything else I agree with in the video though, nice quick and concise summaries.
Though the vow of Miquella has caused a great deal of discourse in the community lol, there are so many different views. With the main camps being Radahn denied the vow, he accepted the vow, he was mind controlled into accepting, he accepted at first but denied it later. The fact that Elden Ring Lore has thus much discourse is what makes it my favorite (and least favorite too at times lol) lore they've done.

If Romina "weaved the divine element into the scarlet rot," wouldn't the rot exist there before it came out of Malenia in the lands between? Seems likely. The pests and butterflies here weren't discarded by Malenia, Malenia just held them in contempt when she met them whereas Romina embraced them. It seems that the ones in the lands between are a slightly different type based on Malenia's rot vs. the rot originating from Romina
