It is amazing to me that monkeys living with humans can actually, and on their OWN, pick up on human behavioral clues to the point of being on the brink of becoming humans themselves, which they will if humans self destroy and Earth continues it's cycle. Like _Eclesiastes_ says brilliantly "generations come, generations GO, but Earth remains forever". So humans are a direct split from one specific set of primate genome that mutated to the point of becoming what we are. Just one GLANCE at these marvelous creatures and we KNOW we came from them by proxy. There is a scientific theory that projects the same outcome all over again after humans are out of the picture. The monkeys who roam this planet today, as pets or in the wild, have been absorbing clues from us and have the same DNA potential to "evolve" in the same direction. Could happen with a certain group of apes, or even a tiny new world monkey. The truth is undeniable either way: They are getting there and Miss Spanky is a jewel💎🐒 of an example of how these lives are to truly and endearingly special. She always has a leash on. U may not see it but it is there. She likes to play "Catch me if u can". When we are at the mansion, she runs free, no roads, neighbors, powerlines to worry about. Spider nonkey likes to climb highest they can. and swing and jump dangerously.
Oh yeah, Spider monkeys get real attached. My friend in Sebring's male 34 yrs old, will not eat or sleep in her house if she goes away. She has not gone away but twice in 30 something years. He runs free on her horse ranch 20 acres everyday along a creek. Always at house at nite. He spends alot of time with her dogs and stays in horse barn with kittens. A Sanctuary will give the monkey back to owner because they will starve themselves.
Hannah currier he is asking about adopting an older monkey, if that were possible then yeah, it would be a shorter commitment since the monkey would have lived some of its life already. that said, most monkeys are given up around 5 years when their teeth get huge and they mature into adult monkeys. the lucky ones are given to a sanctuary
m stenbury well put, and only someone with a LOT of experience caring for monkeys should DARE adopt an older one who will be arriving with pre-existing issues that need be addressed with utmost care. Not at all a small order... Except for an older monkey who has been beautifully cared for like Princess Spanky here. But then again, if a monkey has been perfectly cared for during her 5 first years I see no reason for that monkey's family to wanna get rid of him/her unless the monkey became orphaned. IMHO. 💝🐒
