Cats in 76 is actually one of the easier things to explain from that game: they just hadn't gone extinct yet. In 4 we see Ashes in vault 81, so it seems safe to assume that one or more vaults at the very least contained cats, as 81 doesn't seem the type to let in some animal from outside, and the fear over Ashes leaving. Cats explained, not complicated, but easy to overthink.

    • @RaddSpencer
      @RaddSpencer Před rokem +10

I'd argue that even this is overthinking it. Occam's razer, friend. The simplest explanation is the most likely. Fallouts 1, 2 and New Vegas all take place half a world away on the west coast. While not quite that far, DC, Boston, and the part of West Virginia where 76 takes place are all hundreds of miles apart from each other. Mr. House's vision is, as far as we know, limited to the Vegas area plus however far his Securitrons have roamed. Communication between east and west coasts are likely difficult. It's hardly a mystery that cats might be rare or extinct in some areas of the country, but thriving in small pockets here and there. Or, as 'Friends I Talked To' says, Bethesda simply forgot. They're not exactly known for their strong grasp of Fallout lore. In any case, it's easily explained so I don't see the need to paint it as a conspiracy as this video does.

I've always had this fan theory in my head about Fallout, that places like the Divide and the Sierra Madre were actually divine intervention. The Sierra Madre was meant to be a safe haven, essentially a better Vault than what Vault-Tec had made, but it had inadvertently become a prison because of bad business deals with the Big Empty thanks to the cloud. The Divide is similar, but all so different. The people of Hopeville had banded together and made a tribe, a village even, before the Courier (the player) had been tasked to sending an old, pre-war activation key to the town of Hopeville. The town was destroyed, the Earth split apart, and radiation and brutal, skin tearing dust storms ravaged the area. Hopeville died, and many routes died with it. However, bringing ED-E with you reveals that Hopeville was most likely a secret Enclave settlement. Enclave sciences, some weaponry, even the old pre-world stuff the Enclave likes to rightfully say is there's is all present in the Divide. Tunnelers were most likely an experiment that had broken containment from them. And it actually leads up to a another fan theory of mine as well.
The Player is actually a former Enclave member.
The player asks questions about incredibly obvious things, like it's there first time seeing them, and even some NPC's are surprised at the lack of history. Course, Vegas is East of where Fallout 1 and 2 take place, but that doesn't mean that The player Courier started in the West. It's possible that they started in the West, as Ulysses mentioned many different names of cities that we haven't seen yet. Granted, you could chuck that up to being new in the area, but even a new towny would have the gist of who or what someone was.

It DOES seem like most non feral ghouls are usually intelligent. With the least being gob. Who isn't all that far below normal intelligence in that universe. So maybe that's the answer.
Lead poisoning would bring down intelligence but offer protection from radiation enough to cause ghoulification.
But you have to have some excess intelligence to lose in both processes to remain non feral. With a consistent drop also being experienced. Making it inevitable but the smarter you were at the start, the longer you have.

The pressure wave generated from a nuclear weapon is possibly far more destructive than the localised radiation.

Game sat for a year and I gave it another try, and it quickly became one of my top 3 most favorite series of all time. The depth of story, side quests, crafting, the conspiracies within the game. Man I would’ve never guessed I’d be a complete fallout nut especially after my first go with the series.

Like I never got sick at all while using, which may have been because any illness I may have got would be killed or overpowered by the meth, kinda acting like a chemical disinfectant inside your bloodstream. It sounds far-fetched, and probably is, but I had bedbugs at one point, but they never bit me at all, but then when had this girl over they bit her. She didn't use heroin at the time, but we started dating and eventually she started shooting heroin too, and then after that hey never bit either of us. Mosquitos wouldn't either. I theorized it was because our blood constantly had heroin and meth going thru it, so anything that tried to suc our blood or bite into us would die from an overdose.
Like I said, it barely relates, but I think it's some fun neat info on what an addict's body can do lol. One last thing too actually. There is more Lore that ties to fo1,2,NV than any other location. if you were to follow the plot points and lore segments from fo1 to nv it would all eventually lead to colorado. for years and years around 2006 everyone was talking and thinking colorado. because in colorado the NCR, the enclave, BOS, Khans, Roboco and had an army manufracturing plant, and there were whole squadrons of Robo-brain dogs that patrol the city of boulder and denver that the enclave let loose to kill survivors, and other factions have primary locations in that state. there is more old world political lore beats in Colorado than any other location (alaska and fo3 excluded). i have literally never heard anyone talking about a possibility of New yorks. but i am also an older generation FO fan and have been following plot points from the original series. This new york thing seems to be an entirely new thought point in the fo fanbase. considering i have never heard anyone speak that sentiment.
that is why a lot of players didnt like fo4 or fo76 when they first launched. because a lot of us older fans feel like our plot points we have been following for the past 20+ years has just been discarded.

Pets did have an affect on the wasteland, Emperor scorpions are the descendants of pet scorpions,

It's been suggested by the author of The Hunger Games, since she loved the lore of the Fallout games and always wondered what a world after a nuclear apocalypse would turn into The Hunger Games and Fallout are in the same Universe. So it's not to far fetch to think Panem is set 500 or 1000 years after the great war in the Fallout games and Panem was actually founded by the Brotherhood Of Steel since they had had all the technology and military power and still had the mindset of hoarding everything for themselves. The Brotherhood Of Steel killed almost if not all the radioactive mutated life and after the radiation had gone away (in certain areas) they established "districts" in the safe areas to fullfil certain necessities such as food, power, weapons and technologies, while all they hoarded all of it at what would become their headquarters the Capital.

I'm surprised he went with that and not the theory that PAM was responsible (either intentionally or accidentally but probably the latter). The theory goes that the data showing China launched was actually just a simulation by PAM. Because she's notoriously glitchy, she had put the simulation on the wrong monitors. Believing China had launched, the US launched a "retaliation" strike, and China launched a genuine retaliation strike in response. This is horrifying realistic, because NATO once almost launched on the Soviets because a training tape was played on the wrong monitors and they thought it was real. As for PAM, the theory goes that this is why she warns everyone she meets not to listen to her; she knows she's glitchy as fuck and her data causes far more harm than good... but no one ever listens.

Dogmeat is actually one of the many characters that brushes up against the more supernatural elements in the series. Like the Mysterious Stranger (described as an odd and eldritch entity in Fallout 3), Dogmeat is something of a guardian angel. A mysterious stranger in the form of a dog, who shows up in times of need. Dogmeat aids the Vault Dweller and "dies" in 2162, yet returns to possibly aid the Chosen One in taking down the Enclave in 2241, aids the Lone Wanderer in 2277, and again, the Sole Survivor in 2287.
So, while Dogmeat probably isn't a dog (or if he ever was, and really did die in 2162, he returned later as a guardian angel), he's definitely not a synth.

I think ghouls are caused by the aerosol form of FEV, as we saw ghouls, particularly sentient ghouls, are far more common in the west near the military base that was nuked. And Harold was a ghoul-like person, who was exposed to high amounts of FEV and radioactive tree sap.
We also know that feral ghouls are caused by a cognitive battle between the higher mind and our animal instincts, as we're exposed to more radiation the animal mind becomes more prominent, and the higher mind weakens. We learn this at repcon and get further clarification from the nuka world dlc.

It predates all life on Earth, and it was created when Earth and another planet (Theia) collided and merged. Both of Nirn's moons are spherical, meaning they have a pretty damn significant amount of mass. Objects with that much mass don't just appear out of nowhere. We're talking about something that made the dinosaur-killing asteroid look like a pebble. Moons that size have to come from somewhere, and there's nowhere one could come from for Earth, especially not in what is - in astrological terms - the blink of an eye.
