Happy fish keeping :D
I have been in this hobby since 1969. I have seen a tremendous amount of changes. The changes in tank construction, types of filters, lighting, clientele, and aquarium stands.
That's really cool!! It would be so cool to compare an aquarium back then to how they are now
@@Kaityscichlids sure:
Aquariums has metal frames and slate bottoms incandescent lighting was the way to go. Those lights were available in the form of a tube with a standard socket.
A very large majority of aquarium stands were metal . Fluorescent lighting was just starting to come out around 1970.. shops that specialize in aquarium only were quite different. There was one place I visited when I lived in New York. It was painted all black the lights, and the decorations of the aquariums were the only lighting. Therefore, your eyes would be focused on the aquariums lighting and their decorations.
Hang on the back of aquarium filters, work state of the art, Metaframe was the most prominent manufacturer of aquarium filters. Supreme Superking was a hang on the back filter with 650 gallons per hour capacity 2,460 liters I swore by them . If a young woman in 1970 was to walk into one aquarium store with $1000 and say to the owner I would like to buy this 125 gallon stand aquarium, lighting, and hood. They would think she’s crazy.
Damn, you got me beat, I’ve been at it since 1986 lol
Wowew!!! I hv never seen such crystal clear water in a fish tank. Brilliant
It's a beast of a tank, and you've managed to keep it interesting with a clever stocking of varying livestock. Well done Kaity!
Thank you so much Kevin! I really appreciate it 😊🙏
Absolutely loving the tank and fish. Your videos are always great and informative.
Such a beautiful tank with crystal clear water. The closeups of the fish only make them more gorgeous. Very inspiring!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🙏
To much Light
Hi Kaity, love this vid, I’ve just started with Lake Malawi cichlids after years of community fish, these little guys are just so fascinating
I just wanted to say I love your tanks they are so full of color. I used to have African cichlids. I really miss mine and watching your videos makes me really want to set up another tank. Your tanks give me some really good ideas for what I’d do.
Aquarium ambience is much more than just viewing, ie: fragrance, sound, texture etc. Glad you brought it to my attention! 👍
So very true!! :)
Loved this vid. Keep showing us the great content you are showing us always. Hope your trip is everything you are looking forward to.
Thank you so much David 🙏 That's really kind of you, I appreciate it 😊
I really enjoyed this video! I’m new to ciclids and find your videos very inspiring and great! Enjoy your trip!!!
Thanks for the detailed tour. Your fish are doing so well!
Thank you so much Tex 😊
Hi Kaity, I set up a Malawi cichlid tank 2 weeks agoand I was careful to don't mix up varieties. Now that I see your video I know exactly what to do to have peacocks, haps and Mbunas living together healthy and happy. Continue like this. Greetings and have a nice day.
That's so awesome to hear 😊 Thank you Yelsin!
This is an amazing collection of fish🙌‼️ Tank looks amazing as always and great video Kaity 🤩‼️
Thank you so much Joey!! 😊🙌
I`ve never seen anything like this before. Simply amazing. I`m considering righr now to set up a similar tank with discus fish.
Really nice job. And this tank shows that in a proper sized tank, you can house all of these different types successfully without a ton of bloodshed. Too many people try to stuff african cichlids in 40 or 50 gallon tanks.
Thanks for sharing Kaity !!! The tank is looking beautiful 😃🤙
Thank you so much Tommy 😊🙌
Thanks for the cool videos , we are really enjoying seeing your fish tanks evolve! Enjoy your trip to the States, safe travels. Regards from South Africa.

Schönes, großes Aquarium mit glasklarem Wasser und gesunden Tieren! 👍
Thank you 🙌
One thing I've noticed about Kaity's CZcams channel, is you could be in the worst mood in the world, or are having a bad day. But there's something about Kaity's video's that is so relaxing, and full of positive, joyful vibes. Thank you for making these amazing videos, Kaity!
Thank you so much 😭🙌 Your comment seriously made my day! That is so nice to hear 😊

Those kids are nice! The whole setup is nice!!
Very beautiful Kaity awesome awesome job
Beautiful tank! I’m a newbie couple years in. I have very similar stock. Never knew “color feed” made a difference but gonna give it a try. Yours definitely seem a bit more vibrant than mine. Red fin kandango are my faves.
beautiful tank and fish have kept alot of the same ones but currently im setting up a lake tanganikan cichlid tank as i find them just abit more peaceful and tolerant. the placidochromis phenacilus tanzania is also named a star sapphire hap and as it grows the male will be covered in stars if it retains the lines then you have a female. if ypu like that fish its close relative the placidochromis electra is also very nice and like the name placidochromis peaceful hap. good luck and happy fish keeping
Awesome cichlid tank Kaity .. They look beautiful
Thank you Pascoe 😊🙏

I don't know if you covered this in a previous video, how and why did you settle on Malawi cichlids? I was into Tanganyika cichlids. Both are awesome, just curious.
Very interesting!. I'm looking at starting a Cichlid tank soon. Great tank!
Thank you 😊🙏🙏 Cichlids are great fish!
Wish that you were coming here to Las Vegas, but you are going to some great places with great aquariums. I hope that you enjoy your time here in the USA and much as we enjoy your content.

Excellent video presentation! Beautiful chiclids. I am starting a similar 135 gallon aquarium
Awesome fish you have here.
Wow Looks very nice 😮👍
Beautiful tank
Ahh I could watch you and your beautiful fish all day 😍 loved the little clips of them as babies, so cute! Unfortunately though the videos over and I have sand I need to rinse/clean for a new tank, definitely one of the most boring jobs 😂
Thank you Carl!! And noooo, not rinsing and cleaning sand, the worst! 🤣
Very nice setup

Nice video ...thats what i was looking for.thanks.
Thank you so much 😊
Excellent content
Great video! Tanganyikan cichlids are amazing, in the US, we get only very few of the T species, don't know why. I hope you can get a lot more in AU.
that is really beautiful, makes me wanna setup my cichilds tank quickly! hahaha
I ❤ African Cichlids and your Accent!😊
hello Kaity ! this was a great video and you looks .. so nice
Thank you so much 😊
Hey! The blue peacock you were asking about I believe is a flametail peacock (at 8:35). Beautiful fish!
Beautiful fish tank just like you!
Strange answer Terry !
Hello Kaity, thank you for your nice idea. The fish at minute 8:34 is a selective breeding of the Aulonocara sp."stuartgranti malerie"chidunga rocks. The breeders selected animals with a lot of red/orange in their bodies and then bred them. My opinion: I think your aquarium is a little too brightly lit and the furnishings are too sharp. Keep it up!
Many greetings from Germany
Thanks for the labeling
Your fish @8:36 all blue you were asking about is a Ngara Flametail Peacock aka Aulonocara stuartgranti. Beautiful tank! Your videos are awesome
Also known as a Blue Dragonblood
Thank you so much!! That name rings a bell now!!
hi ther yah your tank looks awesome you have some beautiful fish I wish I can get my aquarium looking good as yours it great video to 👍👍
Thank you so much Big Roy!! You're awesome 😊🙌

Восхищаюсь! Цихлиды - красивые, игривые рыбы. Вы так красиво всё оформили!

Wonderful video😊
Thank you 😊🙏
Beauty!
Gosh Darn that water is Clear!
Thank you 😄
Very informative.
Thank you 😊🙌
U have nice tank and fish...
beautiful aquarium....
Thank you so much Steve 😊
The blue peacock with the yellow up the face and Mohawk down the back is a Lemon Jake that’s one of the fish you didn’t know the name of in beginning of vid. And the Silver peacock with the little yellow egg spots looks lot like a Eureka Jake. Lol. 2 of the fish you didn’t know are both Jake mixes.
Very nice 👍
So clear the water....
Nice video. Thanks!
Thank you Ron 😄
Another fantastic show young Kaity. Dilly dilly. ;)
Thank you!! 😄😄
@@Kaityscichlids if you are not familiar I refer you to an old Heineken ad.
Just beautiful tanks and fish, well done young lady. What size tanks ? It seems you use a lot of sand, it looks great. Acrylic tank’s are my choice as well, they have a very clean look. People don’t realize how much work it takes to maintain tanks like these, again well done😊
I have a pair of red top hongi Mbuna but they're so young that they're brown still. Can't wait til they get beautiful
I'm a betta and goldfish keeper, but stumbled across your channel and love it!! Such beautiful fish. 😊
excellent
The name of the blue and yellow peacock is Aulonocara stuartgranti also konwn as a Ngara Flametail one of my favorite of the peacocks in my home tank
Amazing videos 🇮🇩
Beautiful tank Kaity ! Love it they have grown a lot. I started my 1st African cichlids tank in 2018 after years of keeping community fish. So much fun I love keeping them. I also started a South American cichlid tank about a year ago. Awesome fish too! Actually they are more friendly (or just looking for food!) than the Africans.
Thank you Brian!! I love South American Cichlids too 😍 An Oscar was one of my first fish so they have a special place in my heart 😊
My kadango never coloured , i put in a farm well to end the mosquito problem. It grew so big. It would have made a fine tilapia fry.
So cute ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Imperial tropical in Florida has 150 ponds and lots of cichlids of all types .
im a planted tank guy, and never understand how is it even possible to keep the tank this clear, without plants, most importantly algae free under such lighting! also, the sand is super clean. with this number of fish, where are the debris/poop/gunk/dirty stuff? this looks like the first week of the tank when its just set up! please share the magic!
Hi Kaity, that peacock probably is a Stuartgranti Ngara flametail. Will be very pretty.
