Just having someone confess isn’t enough to ~prove~ another’s innocence (yes I know the burden is on the state, but just in general, the one confessing doesn’t mean the other person had zero involvement whatsoever). Sometimes multiple people could be the culprits but one or more of them try to take the brunt of responsibility (they all know that they’re facing life in prison without parole but they can try to spare a friend the same fate)
Not saying that’s what happened here, but you watch enough cop shows (“COPS” for instance) and it happens, but usually with drug and/or firearm possession or who stole the car… one ~claims~ that *they* did all the crimes and then picked up others that somehow didn’t think anything odd of the situation, while video shows they all did the crime together…
      My question is this…
What’s the point of going into hiding to avoid death threats, only to then have your *~CURRENT~* appearance and names shown on TV which is then available online for all to see… now everyone knows your name *AND* what you both look like

And there are rules in place everywhere to ensure that trials are done in a quick manner. A defendant, however, can waive this right which almost certainly this guy did. The guy who confessed was not his friend. They knew one another through the shooter's sister. They had only met 2 days prior according to the transcripts and what was later confirmed. But either way I totally agree. Pick better folks to associate yourself or will find yourself in the same bs and may not be so lucky next time.

👨‍⚖️ ~ I don’t know if he’s really innocent, but this is why being released out of jail on bail is important. Of course the same people that are furious at the prosecutors in this case will be the same people who are furious when a judge releases someone accused of a crime on bail.
So many people do not understand logic whatsoever. They look at the situation as if their gut feeling is almost always correct and has any value. Plus they look at everything with hindsight. There has to be a system that’s calibrated to work the best it can. But this is why people are often released. Though that said, nobody accused for murder is ever going to be released on bail.
