Marta thought she was better than the reality she was not. Wayne has a lot to put up with managing so many staff who don't speak or understand English language and customs, he needs a medal.
It was instigated by the owner though. You can’t have a 2IC promoted to manager, and then put back to 2IC when he employs a new manager, certainly not without having a big sit down and clearly defining who is in charge of what and when. In reality, I think Wayne was a bit worried as Marta had a lot of (I assume) Polish staff on side with her, and she was also popular with people planning events and Wayne could have felt very threatened and wanted her out. She obviously didn’t like him, resented him and I would guess didn’t pay any attention to what he was telling her to do, so he was totally right, one of them had to go.
I think Marta’s nose was put out of joint, and she didn’t like not being the ultimate authority in the hotel. Pulling faces and dismissing, undermining, Wayne’s authority to the staff, is really unprofessional. Her little faces are just spiteful.
Honestly I believe that Marta kind of was set up to fail. I don't know about the UK but in the US you don't hire someone temporarily and then keep both (with same jobs)on unless u are crystal clear about the positions both will be responsible for..so I feel 4 her and hope she does well at the next job.

Working as a security guard for years and working with Eastern European men and women i always found that the men were more laid back and had a better sense of humour the women on the other hand were quite stroppy and sharp of tongue.

When Martha was demoted she should have been sent to another hotel when a new GM was being added to the team, she then started to take things personally. Its not Waynes fault that she was demoted, only hers. Johnathan made the correct decision by moving her to another hotel. Its not professional to act in the manner she was acting in. The deputy is meant to support the GM, not divide it. Even during the meeting about moving her she tried dividing the owner against the GM. She was very lucky that Johnathon didn't change his mind on his decision.
Probably because we don't live in the dark ages, microwaves should be in every hotel room as a convenience. If I am staying at a hotel I want at least what I have at home - microwave/spa tub/ internet/queen/king bed
I started with I think "series3" aka "season3" now going to the 1st Season or series. Love the GP he is Great and plus the guest can't see his RV or camper!!! So cool!!!! Hands on!!!
The husband can clearly play a guitar. But the mother... Love. You cannot sing. I've been to the website of your band as I like to support up and coming musicians, but after hearing your attempts at music, my advice would be to give it up. Either that or for the band to get a new vocalist.
Marta told the owner, "I don't talk about Wayne to other employees." Umm...YES, you do! I feel for her, being passed up for Mgr., but it wasn't Wayne's fault. I'm not exactly Wayne's biggest fan... I haven't, yet, made up my mind about him,.. whether I like him much, or not.. but I believe he's the person for the job.
I watched this series latterly to the ones at The GroSvenor and Cavendish with 'Manager Mark'. In a similar way to Mark, Wayne grew on me, although I still resent the way he initially seemed to treat the staff, especially the Romanian members. What both managers have in common is a surface form of xenophobia which, the more you delve seems a superficial barrier and not at all their real selves. Both truly seem passionate about their work and, most importantly, passionate about people. I have changed my opinion about both for the better throughout the whole series. But it could be just down to clever editing.
Just watching this series of "The Hotel" for the first time. I've seen the one in Torquay, and the first thing I notice here with this episode; the hospitality industry is *SO* dog eat dog. Lots of Indians and not enough chiefs. The outcome was as best as it was gonna get. Marta got her other job, and Wayne got his sparkle back

i feel sorry for Phil, i have that same problem - i snore very loudly and all night long, everytime i stay in my girlfriends house, even her parents can hear me and my gf has to use earplugs, its very embarrassing for me.
I’ve had an operation for my snoring on my nose !,,, it never worked , it was only 50/50 chance , I’ve no sleep apnea I’ve had a test my only solution is to break my jaw I’m not about to do that , the nhs won’t give me a brace to help my problem , I’m not over weight I’m not a smoker I’m just a snorer !
