      Hey Neil, we get that question a lot so we actually wrote an article about how that answer is a sliding scale and not a static number. Check it out here. www.realstreetperformance.com/blog/how-much-will-a-stock-2jz-hold/

    I love these tech tips! Is 11.5:1 too much for 800hp k24 turbo on e85?

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks for watching and commenting. "Too Much" is going to be kind of a sliding scale here in this case. The higher you go on compression, the smaller the window becomes for success. The higher the compression, the less likely it will be to survive a bad day or detonation. Many people turbocharge 11.5:1 compression K-Series, and there are enough people doing it successfully that the community will tell you it is totally fine. And it is as long as your tuning is dialed in to prevent knock. Now ... the quality of pump E85 can vary throughout the year. So if you get a particularly poor batch of pump e85 and run 800whp worth of boost through an 11.5:1 engine, you are more likely to encounter detonation than if you built a 10.0:1 engine. So unfortunately there isnt a "Yes or no" answer to "is it too much?" It's fine until it isnt. If you monitor fuel quality and make sure the tune is dialed in and check the plugs for detonation and keep it out of detonation it will live at that compression and power level.

    So I your opinion what is the max safest hp or torque numbers that a 2jzgte vvti with stock rods, pistons and block can handle safely on a daily driven car

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  Před 3 lety

      Khalid, that is a question we get just about every day. We actually wrote an article explaining why that question doesn't really work as the answer is a sliding scale. Check it out here www.realstreetperformance.com/blog/how-much-will-a-stock-2jz-hold/
      If you are asking "what power level can i set a stock engine to so that it will live for longer than I intend to own the car for so i never have to rebuild the engine" I would ask how often you plan to beat on it. I have seen people that race their cars every single day with less than 800hp throw stock rods on a 6766. Then I have seen people make 1000hp on a stock block for a dyno pull and then never floor it again and it lives forever. So if you asked "what power level will it last forever at if i want to beat on it every day" a safe bet would be probably not much more than double the factory output. Maybe 500-600

    hey jay i have a piston and rod that were damaged at the wrist pin, im still unsure as to why it happened.

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  Před 3 lety

      Do you have any pictures of the damage? Was there any traumatic event that occurred when it happened like taking water into the engine from the headgasket maybe? How much power was the engine making and what type of fuel was it on? If you dont know how much power it was making then I could make a decent guess from the turbocharger size and boost level. Its possible you overpowered the pin, its possible you had a high cylinder pressure event from detonation, or its equally possible that something else is going on.

    • @Boostlee
      @Boostlee Před 3 lety

      @@realstreetperformance yes i do have some pictures, it was a na build but the pistons and rods came from a boosted setup, mind you both were on my stages of learning tuning on hondata. it was a k20/24 setup wiseco 11.1 pistons no oil squirters, engine was all good for about 2k miles then i started hearing a faint knock and determined it was on cylinder 3 once i opened it i noticed the wrist pin damaged.
