I'm actually thinking of getting a Bandit 600s 1996 with full defense on two sides as my first bike, I mean... I don't plan by any means to drop it, but finding one with those defences is very rare in my country and will help if that occurs to me somehow. I think I'm getting more and more confident with acquiring one of this beautys to be my all rounder bike.

Bandit 600 is very good bike and much underrated. Over 5 years of daily riding, I put close to 100K miles on my 96. It still has the same compression. A standard sport touring bike with great performance, light, durable, comfortable, fun to ride, parts are cheap, fast enough for me.

I've had my 2005 reg (one of the last ones) Bandit 600 for 8 years now and it's just coming up to 59,000 miles,it's used almost every day and without the pandemic it would have been more like 64,000 by now. When I bought it it was low mileage and immaculate and cost me £2000. A woman at work knocked it off of it's stand with her car and her insurance company paid me £2000 and let me keep the bike as long as I got it MOT'd to prove it was roadworthy. All I did was straightened the handlebars and bought a new indicator and mirror, the rest was cosmetic. Basically a free bike, albeit now a Cat D write off. It's a but scruffy and clunky now,the gearbox isn't great but its never let me down,it has however always been properly maintained . The only weak spot has been the exhaust,it's on it's 4th silencer and the joint between the downpipes and the rear exhaust has been welded 4 or 5 times. Parts are very cheap now and loads and loads of them on eBay. I've been riding for 45 years, never had a car, and have had over 30 bikes,I really like the Bandit, fits me perfectly ,totally reliable and comparatively cheap to run.

In the 90s when i were a bay, I used to have a honda poster "1993 line up" and your bike was my favourite one. They are still stonkingly good bikes if you can find a good one like yours. Unfortunately most of them were ragged and left out in the rain. It goes to show you don't need to spend alot to get a really good bike. 80HP is more than enough for the road. I personally have ridden so many 120HP plus bikes now I really don't see the point in them on the road. Just too much and end up holding them back all the time= boring or put your licance on the line. although nice to have the cruising power. Good video. Epic bike Epic Adam.

    I have a 1998 one. Under 25k miles.
No fuel gauge, no gear indicator, (apart from neutral) no clock. No ABS. No frills.
If the air temperature drops below 0c the carbs ice up and it misfires and dies. The carb heaters work, without them it dies about 5c.
So many negatives. It’s mine, I love it. Never selling it.

Honestly Bandits are incredible, fun, cheap bikes. From my personal experience of owning 19 bikes, soon to be 20 bikes over a 10 year period and my god theirs something amazing about bandit 600's... So much so my 20th bike is gonna be my 4th Bandit 600 that I've owned.
They are pennies to buy, pennies to run and a doddle to work on. Yes they only do under 140mph. One of mine did 135mph but that's plenty fast enough for a naked bike.. Realistically now after years of owning superbikes too, you cannot use the full power of the bike... Due to either traffic, speed cameras or tractors... So a good all round realistic cheap bike is the Bandit 600. Yes there is faster more comfy bikes. But seriously if you want a cheap bit of fun, get a bandit. If you know how to ride them properly and have balls to ride it enthusiastically then they are satisfying. Enough said... Ohh and they are super reliable for such an old bike
