“Which one’s mine ?” happens to every rider (even experienced ones) when they move in a new barn, when the instructor tells you “just take Caramel, he’s the tall chestnut” and there’s like 6 tall chestnuts in the field 😂

I was at a rodeo one time and we put the horses out and I have a Bay there are so many bays there I started to panic 😅
My first lesson was a lie she really thought I knew noting about horses and how to put a saddle on

I always ride different horses. I dont own one. So its a necessary question to know wich one im riding that day
I leased a Thoroughbred that depending on his cut and the season was either dark brown, medium brown, or almost chestnut. In nice weather he was turned out with 20 other brown horses. My immediate first thought was always, how now brown cow. He always came right to me, but more dominant boys would try to push in front and say, you mean me, right?
I’ve never taken a lesson, I really want to just to ride, but I could EASILY tell the faults in the beginner and was like, “girl you okay? Someone hit ya head?”
Sometimes people get nervous and forget everything. Though, I have to admit, I can’t imagine someone putting a saddle on backwards. I feel like that would be one of the hardest things to mess up.

If ur taking riding lessons ur telling me they've never seen what a saddle looks like on or the halter, the only thing I could think of would be the saddle pad the wrong way or smt 😂😭

I wish I had a horse bro- I live on the "city" right next to the country side of town so... And I've always been inlove with horses- I go to a church camp that has horses but- and you get to go on trail rides but I was almost bucked off by the only horse I remember the name of and it was Greengo I thing lmao and he was in the front because he was the craziest lmao

Bro we have like the same story, I was at a church camp called camp grey. I rode a pinto mare named Coco, didn’t have any problems, 3 years ago and I still remember it.
I still put the halter on their neck when I’m being lazy 😂
I use rope halters and they fit around the neck great!!
Some times just the lead rope😂😂
Okay the hoof cleaning was ON POINT I teach riding lessons and that’s what everyone does and then say they cleaned it and I go dig out everything being like oh try this next time or hold it this way and use your wrist (they don’t listen 😐)
I didn't get to learn to pick hooves when I had my first lessons because frankly, I was really small and I think my instructor had some concerns. I can ride at almost beginner intermediate level but I've never picked hooves myself.
I learned that when I was 4

Little tip for cleaning the hooves: Hold the actual hoof in your hand. That way it won’t wiggle that much.

I've seen beginners do that before on the farm where my horses where but out of all of these I've never seen someone put a saddle on backwards. That's a new one to me.
LOL, we haven't really seen it either.. but based on some of the comments we've gotten, it seems like it happens, LOL.

I worked at a horse rescue and we had volunteers that we would train that didn't have horse experience. One night as I'm working the dinner shift I saw one of our newer volunteers with no experience, that they actually wanted to hire on, of whom I had voiced my concerns about to my bosses. They ignored me and let her go about her way. I walked out to our front field to feed some of the horses and I see her walking our Percheron (also our largest horse on the farm who tended to be either spooky or naughty when walking). She had the lead rope wrapped around her hand numerous times so it was short. I quickly stopped her and told her she can't do that with a horse, especially him, because if he spooks she is getting dragged. Her response was "Oh. I thought it was like walking a dog." I've also had to remind people many times not to come up behind them as the horses can't see. I love that people don't view horses as 1,200lb animals.

Why does this remind me of when I was at camp, (horse camp) and one of the instructors was showing this girl, who never rode a horse have to put a bridle on. At the camp we share horses and share the responsibilities of tacking, grooming, etc for the horse, and for some reason, the girl was like 9 btw, the gave her the BIGGEST stallion you can ride there. But anyway, the instructer (wasn’t the main one btw) literally but the bridle on the horse wrong, she literally got the rein in the throat latch of the bridle somehow- and got mad at me when I told her cus I “interrupted her”
She is normally pretty nice btw

I've been infatuated with horses since the day i was born, so on my first lesson last summer ( it wasnt planned, a friend of by grandparents offered to give me riding lessons ) so my instructor was a bit suprised at how much i knew

You are so lucky if you have a horse so pls don't take it for granted, I absolutely LOVE horses, and I don't have the time (actually I do but my parents don't) and my parents say I have to wait until I'm adult. So please don't take it, or make it sound like you take it for granted, and pleeeeaaase don't boast. You are super lucky to have one.

Imagine your horse every single day and all the love you will give. One day, that horse will be yours. :)
