I had a lot of low scores on the Vineland too! I thought I was living relatively independently, and didn’t realize my executive function is affecting me so much. When I was growing up, people always got so annoyed that I needed help with daily living skills since I got all A’s in school. I feel like therapists don’t understand it either since I do live alone and get tasks done when I need to! Just because I do everything I need to in my daily life doesn’t mean it’s still not a struggle!

Stephanie, I was so shocked to hear you talk about Avoidant Personality and Dependent Personality disorder as I am diagnosed with these things as well. I know you don't meet all the criteria to be clinically diagnosed with these but it was so amazing to hear you speak about them! I try to bring mental health awareness on my Tik Tok account,; as CZcams is harder for me to document that type of stuff on. But I'm so glad I know someone that is on a social media platform and can use that to help educate others about these personality disorders as I feel like they are not talked about as much. I just wanted to say thank you for including that in your video as it made me smile to know someone else who presents with the same thing as me!

I work with children who have autism in a special school, I was diagnosed as a child but for some reason never identified with it and was in denial. I recently had the first adult evaluation since adulthood, looking at everything across the board. To my surprise, it again wrote, autism, OCD, ADHD. It also picked up attachment issues, I completely get the clarity it brings. I went because I thought I had a personality disorder and like I didn't fit in anywhere. I had extreme issues with maintaining any relationships and wasn't expecting it to come back with autism. I felt oddly reassured when I received the same diagnosis with added attachment. It is so hard when you have some mental health crossover, for the first time I am accepting myself. My cousin, who is like a brother to me, has nonverbal autism, ignorantly, I always saw so much difference and forgot to look at the similarities. I hope this brings you the closure you need from a life time of searching for answers. great video

It really does help so, so much to hear an autistic person describing their experience in connection to results like that, especially because I'm only self-diagnosed and really am wanting an official assessment, it helps to validate my own experiences in a way that makes me feel less like an imposter because I so so much related to a lot of what you've described experiencing.

Information for adult females on the spectrum is hard to find but recently I have been finding more and more and it is so encouraging for people like myself who are struggling and have struggled. I am undiagnosed with any labeled disorders but I feel very connected with a lot of the anxiety, adhd, social issues and sensory processing issues associated with autism. Regardless of it I do get a diagnosis later or not knowing other people are struggling with the same issues makes me feel not so alone.

I was diagnosed with ASD almost 9 years ago - as an adult - and hadn't heard of avoidant personality disorder or dependent personality disorder until I watched this video, but it's like a lightbulb has switched on. I'm not good in social situations at all, actively avoiding them, and have only a couple of friends who I trust completely, as I have no idea how to 'be' with others. But I feel very tuned into social, like too much. But I'm always off. I'm living on a different wave length. But omg how refreshing to watch these. I think it's possible because I'm in my 4th citizenship that I just don't fit in. Maybe that's all it is.

@@OurLANDingCrew8 see that's where I'm lost. I've been down a rabbit hole learning about autism as I suspect my 2 year old may be. I super relate to so much and am convinced I'm on the spectrum. However, I don't think I had abnormal early development, as in walking and talking. I've heard I did those within "normal" milestone age. So it's like maybe I am just that terrible at communicating, making eye contact, constant nail picking, sensory sensitivities, etc. Which is kind of a bummer if there's no cause for these things I've struggled with since my earliest memories.

At age 7, I was diagnosed as LAZY and BRAT. 50 years later a friend of a friend said, "do you realize your friend Torby has aspergers?" I thought he was nuts, but he works with aspires, somaybe hewas right. Over the next few months, several more people who you would think would know said Autism. Well now I know why I was LAZY BRAT, so I say ASD.

Did you ever take medication for ADHD and if so did it help?

Since you do not hear things the way they are do you have trouble spelling? I have ALWAYS been a VERY bad speller. The older I get the more words I find that I have heard wrong...the last one (And you can laugh) is bonfire...I thought it was bombfire!!! And I will be 68 years old on the 23rd of this month!!!

I’m actually a great speller but it’s because I have a photographic memory so once I see it know how to spell it

@@OurLANDingCrew8 I'm glad that you can spell...it makes life SO much easier. Not so important now with spell check as it was in the olden days when I was young...LOL!!!
