    Unbreakable for Toad Dragons. Can basically get Rot Knights up to nearly 100 in melee attack, Defense, and armor percing damage. Can get a decent chunk of those units for free basically. Not to mention all the buffs Kayzk gives to cav and monster cav, and the fact he's a beatstick himself. And all of the buffs the other chieftens can give you. Yeah I guess the ogres can use a bit more, but they do the job fine, and get massively buffed by the new tech AND plagues. But sure Tamurkhan needs to buff his units more.

      Are you talking about the segment where we discuss the chieftain units, like the Fimir?

    • @thewolfofroses3504
      @thewolfofroses3504 Před měsícem

      Nah. Only the ones that Tamurkhan buffs specifically which if I remember all of them off the top of my head. Are Plague Ogres and Toad Dragons, and also the non demon units of Nurgle's roster.

    • @nerdragefred
      @nerdragefred Před měsícem +1

      @@thewolfofroses3504 I dont think we say he needs to buff his other units, its just the chieftan units in general that, kinda like ally units you can recruit doesnt always mesh that well into armies. Tamurkhan is a just a stomp adventure, I dont know if we ever say we need to buff anything else in that regard.

      @@nerdragefred That is definitely true, though balance and buff wise there is a nice middle ground. And I believe it was Monstersabound who said he would like Tamurkhan to buff his units more. (Also apologies if my comments come off as snarky. Not my intention to be rude, just wanted a funny way to spark a discussion.)

    Not a fan of the new grudge system. Using "grudges" as a currency just leads to the mechanic relying on a constant influx of new grudges. This leads inevitably to imbalances, broken mechanics, and hyper-aggressive gameplay that doesn't suit the Dawi at all. What's more, grudges now have no character. Sure, there are legendary grudges (which seem very unlikely to even complete), but the main grudge mechanic just feels completely arbitrary and "meh", with only one solution: generate more grudges, no matter where or what for. The system was better when grudges had an actual reason for existing. The age of reckoning mechanic is just another nameless, faceless thing that you just feed "currency" to get through. The whole system is very uninspired.
    They should have improved the previous system by adding more grudges, based on in-game events and dilemmas, that could grant you special units, abilities, and mechanics upon completion. The system just needed to be toned down, made more interesting, and given more ways for the player to interact with it. Instead, they overhauled everything and left us with this new, generic system that seems very lackluster, not to mention broken and completely imbalanced. This is a case of the devs changing things for the sake of change, without realizing what the system is supposed to do in the first place. It's a shame.
    I think the devs were simply too worried about making the grudge system too reliant on "quests", or too much of a burden with too many penalties. (We already see that they're planning to change the age of reckoning.) They could have kept the old system, made it more interesting, but also removed a lot of the negative penalties by making it something you optionally lean into when you can ... realizing that the best bonuses ultimately come from it. You could still enact ages of reckoning, but based on the player's agency, not some arbitrary timer. The end result would be some kind of new units, tech, a new "age" with temporary buffs .. all for having enacted revenge on the behalf of the dawi. Thorgrim, of course, could get additional bonuses.
    I always go back to City of Heroes and their implemenatation of "xp debt". This is an awful mechanic in that game, because is stacks up penalties on the player. In game design, positive, engaging agency is always the better and more interesting option for the player. Mechanics should always be additive, positive, and empowering. Not arbitrary, random, lacking in agency, and abstracted to something as uninteresting as currency.

      Totally agree, the fact that they already prepering to change it just speaks volumes of them skimping or even skipping QA completetly. If they would have played 20 turns, that is what unlike you manually do all the battles takes 30 minutes, they could have seen that this mechanic is not fun and even punising for no reason on top of you getting time pressured.

    It's just nice to enjoy a dlc. I hope the next one is as good. The only thing I'm sick of is Games Workshop editing the dlc for "ip" reasons, that stuff is genuinely annoying.

    Re. Age of Grudges mechanic maybe it would be Worth to but the "age of vibing" for ex 5 turns? That would help build up grudges on the enemies as well as relieve a bit of pressure from finding & fighting new enemy every turn?

    Guys, you should really use more mods, you gonna have a straight up worse gaming experince without them.
    There is a mod for most of the gameplay problems you talk about. For example: The "Victory Conditions Overhaul" mod is essential. Not all LL are in it yet, but they are slowly added. And the new LLs already have them.
    There is also a new giant norsca mod, that makes most of the tribes unique and playable with their own mechanics. It' insane.
    Only downside to mods is, that they break after bigger patches, but most modders are quick to update them.

    I really enjoy Nerdragefred because he is nuanced and can discuss CA and total war without going overboard with negativity.
    unfortunately the same can't be said for the other 2 guys that just complain non stop everytime they open their mouths. It only take 5 minutes before I have to hear another rant about how much sieges suck even though it has nothing to do with Thrones of Decay.

  • @MrJJSwat

    Nah. I still hate total war and will continue to do so. CA made it clear I don't have any "right" to criticize their products despite being a paying customer for over a decade. They in turn have no right to a single cent from me. I will however happily pirate their games and cheer when they inevitably fuck up enough to go bankrupt.
