I have Dion's album with but not all his hits from the 1950s to 1961. Even though it's been warped from water damage, it plays excellent on my turntable. Thank you, Woolworth's for having the album on clearance in 1971.
I love this song. Brings back great memories of when I was a young teenager. I had to laugh at the people in the audience. How could they sit there without a smile on their face and not sing along? It’s the kind of song I would want to get up, dance right there at the table, clap my hands and sing along! Lol
I heard or read that his performance there was shot for a movie. It was a sophisticated night club for adults, and Dion was only 16 then, so the audience was probably viewing him as a teenager and didn't really like rock and roll, or appreciate his music. I think Bobby Darin would have been the type of singer that club would have. Or a grown-up dance band. But yes, seeing the audience reacting so passively is strange!
