Overall, the flex is where it’s at these days. If you can say you have it and others are envious that’s the thrill that some are chasing…perhaps. But then I’d have to ask the deeper question as to why it’s so important to be validated by others, namely strangers so much? ..
Great video & thanks for the info! 🤗
I’m sure we always liked to flex. But now the flex can be worldwide and you can earn money and fame. The stakes are higher
I am with you. I am trying to spend my money more intentionally instead of buying emotionally.
I still sometimes do some emotional shopping, but now I will realize it and return the item.
@@CathyMekondo I still do emotional spending as well but I am trying to get better and be more aware. I have a video ( not released on you tube yet but filmed ) about mindful spending . I think it helps me to know others are trying to be better as well. I am going to record my spends this year. Thank you for doing this video. 😘
Can’t wait to see it! A friend and I were talking about how I resist panic buying and it’s definitely a part of mindful spending.
So agree with you, and almost got sucked into this whole luxury situation and wanting things just because I see them on youtube. Because actually don’t see many of those in real life, so either they are being collected and not used, or not bought really at all. Also have every thing I need for clothes and shoes etc. So while not doing a no buy year, I have decided to take a year where only necessary basic replacements will be done - and as reward to myself, I will allow myself to buy one luxury item each two months. That fits with the budget I have used he last year and allows me to really think about what I want, not just the latest fad…
I do feel like I consume more when I watch hauls on CZcams and Instagram. I’m planning to not buying any clothes and accessories for the month of January. I definitely don’t need anything until spring actually. Shopping with list is helping me but I still fall prey to impulse purchases I see online. It’s a journey
So sad about Tamara's situation, but it's a life lesson for all of us. Agree social media is the biggest influence in flexing luxury, that's why I limit social media & TV.
Yeah, unfortunately flexing luxury is her job.
I watched that video and I was like "is this girl serious?" I love luxury but im also more of a luxury minimalist. It's so easy to get consumed by anything, so we all need moderation.
Thanks for watching! We definitely need moderation. That video was so painful to watch!
Tamara has uploaded a new video today showing her (18) Chanel bag collection. She has also acquired around five new Hermes birkins and Kellys in the last few months since the robbery, all of which she has unboxed on her channel. Most of her bags and other designer items were in her home in Brighton but she made a video after this (second) robbery saying that everything that she had worked for over the past ten years had been stolen. She was due to move out of that apartment in Paris anyway as it was in fact an Airbnb and the tenancy was up. All is not what it seems with Tamara, I'm afraid. And as for Purseonfleek - may all her problems be so small. Ridiculous the way she hounded that poor SA and then believed she was the victim!
I watched Tamara's latest video today. I do feel that she suffered a big loss in the robbery but they didn't steal everything. She still had all her clothes, shoes and some bags. I feel like she's just been pretending to be happy and carry on buying new bags when she probably needs to slow down, grieve the loss and rebuild slowly. I think she is going to regret most of the new Chanel bags she purchased immediately.
Purseonfleek is what is wrong with luxury CZcams, but the video made her infamous. I don't think she will change. I heard she is back buying Hermes. LOL!
Hi Cathy, just wanna thank you for making this video. I am currently building my minimalist luxury bag collection with only tote bags and crossbody bags because they fit my style and needs perfectly and I feel like your video encourages me to continue my journey, so thank you!
You’re welcome! Buying bags that you actually wear and enjoy is the best feeling!
Really enjoyed this video! This is something I've struggled with, and this video's a great reminder to value and enjoy what you have instead of constantly chasing. How can we ever be satisfied if we never have "enough"?
Thanks for watching! FOMO is fueling so many of our purchases lately and it makes it hard to enjoy the items you have. I’m really trying to enjoy my 2021 purchases right now!
This is the only (luxury) minimalist video i was able to watch
Thank you for watching!
Small world. I watched that video (purse on fleek) because it was recommended in TPF. I’ve been purse obsessed since I was about 6 years old. 😩
My friend kept telling me to watch it. I only watched a few minutes. Girl.
I agree with you ! there is so much beauty in the world but we really need to pair down what we want in our lives not just want what everyone one else has. I went to Coach to find a bag I liked. I had the money to buy one but nothing said buy me the bags were all boring.
I agree. We don’t enjoy our items. We just collect more!
Loved this video and your perspective!
Thank you for watching!
Great video, I try to keep a minimal wardrobe and was looking into getting my first luxury bag and I definitely am not trying to get sucked in to the excessive luxury purchases. And yes the social media flex is so real!
Thanks for watching! I often have to ask myself if I really want it or was I influenced 🤔
Wow, had no idea about this but I can definitely see this happening and truthfully, whatever floats your boat is how I see it. I think the top two reasons people may be opting for luxury minimalism is because of the pricing-with the increase at Chanel these past twelve months people may be deciding that they can do without especially if the quality is also shifting. Two, the exclusivity of it all, I’d like to think that people aren’t missing social cues so often that they are being called out to stop harassing someone. That’s intense.
The price increases combined with the quality decline is definitely making people not want to buy. It’s caused preowned prices to skyrocket.
Well said and I am grateful of my luxury handbag collection of 4 🙏🏿 I had to check myself this year so I sold 2 bags and then purchased 1 bag and I sold an slg because I was not even appreciative of what I had. Quality over quantity but classic and getting use out of what I am wearing. Not always obsessing over “things” but being grateful and content. Also refocusing this anxiety that I built up, to always have what I see others with and use that energy to work out or read some books or work on other productive goals. I got to the point that when I would open my items, I did not have a feeling of joy and appreciation.
Well said! I’m focused on buying items that bring me joy and that I can’t wait to wear. Anything else is going to be sold or donated.
Such a fantastic point of view!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
new subbie here! i love this im guilty of this. I am NOW curating my closet and both donating and selling items.
Thanks for subbing! You so have this. I feel like I have to purge my closet twice a year. I think I have a good baseline, but I do like to try a few trends every season and they tend to get donated afterwards. I give myself grace!
I followed you over from your content on my video, and I'm glad I did! This was a very thoughtful response to several things going on in the luxury community today. I liked how you pointed out that you don't have to be a minimalist and only own two things in order to be mindful and curate what you buy so that you genuinely enjoy your items (without taking them too seriously--these are luxury goods after all! non-necessities. they're frivolous and fun)!
Thank you so much for watching. Your video has sparked so much good discussion amongst me and my friends. I’m so happy that there are more people who want a mindful approach to luxury rather than just repeating the endless cycle of FOMO and regret!
Because you can buy it does not mean you can afford it. Minimalism is using up things efficiently and effectively rather than merely seeing its potential. When you deep dive into fashion there are social, cultural and political factors as well as the obvious economic costs at play.
I agree. Fashion is an industry that needs consumers to buy things they don’t need month after month to survive.
You are the first person who had the most realistic response about her video. Yes, she missed social cues! I am subscribing to you based on your realistic observation!
She was so oblivious! And she is back buying Hermes so she’s not done with them. LOL! Thanks for subscribing!
Love this perspective. Such a refreshing video in a sea of hauls and mass luxury consumerism these days, especially on CZcams.
Thank you for watching! Hopefully the hauls slow down now that we’re no longer on lockdown and bored senseless.
This was ALL spot on! Great video.
Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Kathy, I’ve watched a few vids of your and enjoyed them. Great video, there are a few “lux minimalists” around on yt here but you’ve been the only one so far to directly address these current issues (Tamara and purse on fleek) really effectively! I too believe we should reevaluate what purchasing objects mean and keep them in place. There’s too much uncertainty in the world to rely on luxury for happiness
Love how you form your opinion, keep it up!
Thank you! Luxury should add to your life. I feel like we’ve lost ourselves a bit. Trying to figure out how to really enjoy luxury in a better way.
i like your jacket. well I' became addicted to brands and it's like trying to be a responsible drug user lol (best example I can come up with) because I see all this bags I like or sick deals but after sleeping on it, I don't need it.
Thank you. It’s a cropped blazer from Zara. Social media and CZcams definitely make it easier to fall in love with luxury items. The constant temptation is hard.
Loved this video. Great points. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video!!!! ❤️
Thanks for watching Eliza!
I will like some clue on that ur blazer. Thanks
It’s a cropped Zara blazer that is sold out. I’ve seen it on Poshmark. It has a matching skirt also.

Dope video. Subscribing now ❣️
Thank you for subscribing 😍
hey great content! just wanna comment about the video, it's very choppy and give me headache. maybe you can improve on that, otherwise everything is nice 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching and the feedback. I’m working on my editing and hopefully the newer videos are smoother.
