I Tried Bread & Cheese Chasing Sooty Grunter In A Fresh Water Creeks Around Cairns

- Hey guys and girls I have been enjoying chasing the sooty grunter in the fresh water with the winds and coast weather being terrible.. Just remember in cairns when fish you still always have to be mindful of salt water crocodiles.

I used to fish extensively in the mulgrave I used dough, I used to fish at the green patch floating dough down under the highway bridge from around 3: 00 pm until dark , there's some good sooties under there, there USED to be A track heading upstream next to the cane fields next to the river also that took you to a waterhole called blackwells hole there were some big sooties up there too .
yeah i have fished most of that stretch its good but been flooded out so much lately and there are a few croc getting through it to now always got to carful these days there.
where abouts is this
its peets bridge just near Goldsborough Cairns be carful but there are crocs in the stretch there to.
As much as enjoy fishing the croc problem in NQ out of control and makes any activity near water to dangerous to try as eventually be breakfast for these cunning apex predators.
you have to be smart if you cant see in the water clearly then stay well back...(10m) rocky areas are bit safer in my opinion as they not likely to power up on or over rocks that could cut there belly that could cause infection.
Just carry a gun and some uv sunglasses so you can see thru the waters glare
I feel very safe in these areas with the uv sunglasses as long as you can see in the water. if you cant just stay right back most of the creaks are crystal clear but its more like when clouds come over and it makes the water really dark makes it risky, people dont switch on to the changed@@gc6329
Yeah,when I was fishing there it was the late 80s /early 90s,not as dangerous as today,I used to stand knee deep in the green patch after the cyclones when the river was still a fair bit up and flowing strong,in fact that was when I caught my P,B jungle perch and the only time I've ever caught one in the mulgrave (at the green patch)and that was on an unweighted piece of dough,(would've gone about 30 cm),all of my fishing in the mulgrave when using bait was unweighted dough.
I caught a Barra under the highway bridge at the green patch at about 9:00 am one morning,had to release it again though cos it was in the closed season,caught it on a gold bomber....couldn't believe my luck at the time.
