I'm glad you still liked the album, but many others think it was mediocre. Also, if you actually listen to the lyrics, he was throwing more subliminals and disses that were most likely directed to Kendrick in at least 4 songs besides 7 min. drill. Besides that there were some very basic rap displays, he should be at a different level, even if it's just a teaser album.

Y'all perfectly highlighted why the big back and forths in 90s and early 00s happened. There were legitimate issues behind the scenes that led to the conflict. Pac and 50 were both shot. Those situations weren't manufactured. Kendrick and Cole are friends with no issues, why destroy that for somebody else's entertainment.

There’s nothing corny about “rap beef” in this era when it comes to just pen game. You can say Cole has no problems with him, but so what? It’s about going at each other to prove to each of your fans who’s the best; you don’t need to stop being friends for that.
And saying none of these new guys are like the ones from the 90s is an overstatement. It just became easier now to get along since it’s in their best interest to make money, the top guys should be fighting for the number one but it’s just that no one has been hungry like Kendrick, cole, Drake, and Kanye. Doesn’t mean it’s soft though, just because they aren’t willing to literally die over rap beef.

The only corny rap beefs I’d call out would be gangster rappers who talk about smoking each other. Rap has always been a sport, you’re competing against others for a spot, more fans, more money, etc... If you can’t handle rap beef then what’s there to say.
