Gary was my roommate in Buffalo between 1969 and 71. 1741 Amherst street was his home base while he was traveling around performing great music with well-know bands. He is still one of my absolute top 3 drummers, coming in at #1.

I was in The Mick Hayes Band here in Buffalo yrs ago around '09. Mick had hired him for a local gig, while he was in town for a while! He used my drums, I was talking to him in-between set's and thanked him for his Fly Like An Eagle groove! I told him me and my father (who at the time, was a Big Band Drummer) heard that tune at the new locally owned record store here called Record Theatre. We called that beat "The Slinky Groove" Thank you so much Gary!

I came here for the Steve Miller years, but found the Van Morrison connection quite interesting. I can't wait until Pt 3.

I met Gary a few years ago in Monroe Michigan when he was playing with AJ Croce. What a great, humble person. You wouldn’t have know he was a rock star to people who know the musicians of famous singers. Thank you Gary for your time and being so friendly. You made this fan happy!

Gary is one of the greatest “song” players to ever pick up a pair of sticks. His work with Van Morrison, Steve Miller and Eddie Money is brimming with personality and taste. “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jungle Love,” “Two Tickets For Paradise” are just a few examples.

I think Moondance can only be categorised as Van Morrison music. Back in the late sixties some people called it Blue Eyed Soul.

Really interesting. Shame about the awful background music getting in the way
