- Another Porsche exhaust? What is this, number 14? I really want to try another exhaust on the GT3 RS since my non-catted Dundon is yellowing my PPF on the rear of the car. This time I decided to try the AWE SwitchPath exhaust. I'll probably lose a little bit of power but no more yellowing of my PPF. The sound is good too.
33:50 for exhaust sound.

33:50 skip install and straight to exhaust sound 🔊🤯
The guy at 13:41 is an accurate representation of me every time a new OG video is up.
because of you i found AWE and have it on my 99.1 GTS and i love it amazing sound and performance. glad you are testing this out i been super curious about it
I enjoy watching the struggles and the solutions to overcome the struggles. No need to beat yourself up over them. It's part of the willingness to stretch outside of the comfort zone and get it done. Well done.
I'm a BMW guy right now and I've only got an X3, but every video you make of your GT3 makes me want to be a Porsche guy already.
“This exhaust sure is well made”.....
.......after 15 minutes of bending it into shape anyway.
I've got the AWE Sport exhaust on my 2017 B9 A4 and LOVE it!! Had 3 of the sales reps from Audi Seattle come out and drool over it. :)
I have AWE track exhaust on my Audi S5. And I love it , great choice you won’t regret it
The torque arm , best part of the video!!!
OB playing "The Pipes of Peace" 😂
I did the AWE Switchpath about 12 months ago. Great sound. No drone. Loud :) Some power gain on the butt o meter. The only problem Ive had is repeated cracking of the centre section exhaust mounts. Finally had to get a friend to fabricate a set up attached to the exhaust and then bolted to the OEM centre muffler holder. AWE replaced the first one after the cracking but it happened with the second one as well. After that AWE said that they couldnt help anymore as the exhaust wasn't designed for taking the car to the track !! I still have the exhaust fitted and still love it but had to customise the centre bracket et al. I was dumbfounded when AWE said that it wasn't designed to be tracked ! WTF !
Matt, I hope you did full decon, prep and ceramic coated that skid plate/rear diffuser.
A great display of leading by example.
We see lots of people paying big bucks for someone else to do their spanner work for them.
Ok you have a ramp, that make life a lot easier, but that type of work can be done on the deck without much trouble.
This should be inspiration for many... food for thought too.
Staying tuned... 😉
Thats the sound
I would love it to be able to have access to a nice garage with a lift and awesome awesome tools to work on my car. Ahhhhh excellent. I've got a slew of mods waiting for me to install on my 2014 Mustang but I need to clear out my garage and then jack the whole car on stands to swap out my suspension, do a front lip, exhaust midpipe, etc. I need to see if I can find a local garage hookup to get on flat ground hahah
Remember the extensive testing you used to do with the blue GT3 car? We need more of that.
I've done about all that needs to be done on that front. The testing I did in the beginning was to find out more about what the valve did for the car as I was chasing removal of them. Now that I have that data, I can make these little changes without the need for the dyno.
Dang! Been looking for Dundon headers for my white GT4. Hmm. Hesitant about catless. I also care about the environment haha. Not sure it’s worth spending the ~$4k or so extra for the catted Dundon system...
Sounds like we’ll be doing another exhaust....🤪
Why don‘t you use hjs Sport cats?
sick
Matt, this SwitchPath looks and sounds fantastic! I have a new (26 mile) GT3 Touring and have been looking for the perfect exhaust system. I love the exhaust button and want to keep that feature. I had narrowed it down to IPE system that has great volume and an awesome high pitch Ferrari type sound but cosmetically didn't like how the exhaust in the back protrudes down a little bit below the bumper, I've also heard of some inconsistent quality control issues. On the other hand this AWE exhaust system seems to combine the best of every system I have researched. The exhaust sound is familiar to but even BETTER than the IPE. Thanks so much for your research into these muffler systems, you've saved me a ton of time and expense. I will be ordering the SwitchPath system from AWE when I get my car back from getting a full body PPF. Thanks again Matt!! Sean
Yes, definitely do the AWE. You won't regret it. No drone and super nasty. Just know the button on a GT3 does virtually nothing for you just like on the stock exhaust. Turning the exhaust button off and on on affects the valves at idle. iPE is marketing junk, so you definitely don't want that.
Obsessed Garage
Phew, you saved the day! Can’t wait thanks again Matt!
Will need to hear a side by side comparison to form an opinion but it sounds good (what RS doesnt?).
It does sound really good. I'm really liking it.
13:42 "I'm watching you....and whew, these chips are tasty."
Hey Matt I know you have done it a ton, and I know you are meticulous as always, but pre-twisting O2 sensors kills me inside. I always disconnect at the connector. Just peeves me to kind up the wires inside the sleeving. Good video as always!
Yeah, that's a lazy step. The molex are so darn far up into the car that I just reverse twist them. It's lazy, but it works.
Gotta say my dream office would be near a garage door with my car parked right there.
Kobbernuts is often 12mm og V.A.G cars 😉
Hi Matt! I'm ready to finally pull the trigger on an exhaust for my 991.2 Touring. I was convinced after your video to purchase the AWE SwitchPath but am now concerned it may be a little too loud (I wish I could hear it in person!) My dealership told me about the GMG Center Section exhaust. I'm wondering if that would be slightly tamer? As long as I can quiet it down through my neighborhood and when passing crowds going up the canyon with the exhaust button I'm fine with either one. In your expert opinion what do you think sounds best out of these two options and how loud is one compared to the other? Sean
Hey Sean, GMG center section is considerably quieter than AWE Switchpath because it retains the side mufflers. Remember the exhaust button does absolutely nothing outside of idle. As soon as you drive off, button on or off the exhausts acts the same.
Thanks for your quick response Matt! Your research and obsession is much appreciated! All the best!!
Could you recommend an exhaust for a 991.1 GT3? Will mostly be driven on road, so can't be too crazy, but would like better sound lower in the rev range. More F1-y than throaty.
For the F1 sound one must be above 7000 rpm to enjoy.
Just dont get an Aftermarket exhaust- its obnoxious and wont sound better Just louder
Good video!!! I´m thinking of the Sharkwerks exhaust for my 991.2 GTS. Has anyone heard if this is good?? Why did the Dundon yellow your PPF?
The Dundon I had was the catless race version. Removing the cats caused the yellowing. For 991.2 I would do either this AWE exhaust or Dundon Street with Black series center muffler.
@@ObsessedGarage Thanks for your answer!! I get that but is it because the fumes that the cats normally picks up? So you wouldn´t change to the Sharkwerks exhaust, why?
The Sharkwerks center bypass is basically stock with a 20% more sound.
Okay, i may have cried a little when you cranked it up. Omg, thats a keeper! She sounds like a beast!
It does sound very, very good...and no drone.
I noticed the GT3 dump black smoke a bit when he revved it; is that because it’s catless?
Just initial start up with a new exhaust. That's pretty normal.
Here we go again! That’s we love it! Can’t get enough of this content. Thanks Matt.👍
Boom!
what a downgrade......
Do you get nervous being under the lift? Are there safety catchers in case the hydraulics fail?
I'm sure there's a ratchet/ locking mechanism.
I did at first, but you get used to it after a while.
What brand/model of lift is this? Thanks.
It's this one. www.obsessedgarage.com/collections/lifts/products/twin-busch-tw-s3-19-double-scissor-lift

you should do a blind test on all the exhaust, that way you'll know if there's actually a difference
There is a very easily, detectible difference in sound between all of these iterations. I could like identify most of them, especially the ones that I have had.
is there an option to retrofit the 991.2s rear lights?
I don't think so.

When you say 14 exhausts...did you buy and sell 14 exhausts or buy and return 14 exhausts?
Bought and sold... You can't return that kind of stuff. Plus that would be the right thing to do.
Hi Matt,
Are you selling your Dundon headers?
- Interested GT3RS owner
Yes I am. Shoot me an email matt@obsessedgarage.com
This was way more cooler when you were on your back on the old garage floor
Ha, ha... Maybe for you, not for me.
On camera that sounds horrible vs the Dundon
It has that metallic rasp to it. No bueno.
It very much the opposite. There is rasp, especially on down revs with the Dundon Race and none with the AWE/Catted OE Headers. The AWE is much deeper, but has a bit of hollow sound in comparison. The Dundon sounds more like a Cup Car, but is much higher pitched. Both sound great. I think for the street and my preferences, I prefer the sound of the AWE and the Catted Dundon. That, and the yellowing due to being catless are the reason I'm making a change.
@@ObsessedGarage Interesting how the video makes it sound different, I'm glad the AWE sounds good!
@@JohnRobbfl very different price bracket, but I just got a Ford Racing exhaust (made by borla) for my Focus ST and cameras make it sound so much more raspy and hollow than it really is. In person its much deeper.
When you sell the GT3RS, whats your next car?
Another GT3 RS!
35:20 that is one nice Camry.
Chris thanks you.
You sure have the remove and replace down pat.
Boom!
Who doesn't want to try another exhaust?
Bingo!
Put the Dundon back on so we can all sleep again at night....
Can tell by the worn tires you drive the car haha
Those tires look worn when they are new, haha. Not very deep tread
What the flip?????? LOL
You were immediately disappointed right?
No, it is much deeper sounding than the full race. I really like it thus far.
@@ObsessedGarage That's all that MATTers then right :)
Matt, cats are just bad. horsepower is horsepower. take it where you can get it as no car has too much. Knowing you i bet you end up back up at dundon as their stuff sounds great. It was like watching musical chairs with all your helpers in this episode. I think you had 5 or 6 people give you a hand. I can see it now job title: "Matts #2 assistant" and so on. :)
Ralph Burrows I’ve noticed a lot of folks going back to cats lately. I’m not sure if loud is going out of style, if it’s the smell, the yellowing or what.
you need to try the JCR titanium race pipe, don’t listen to all these people on YT that don’t even own GT3’s haha #rennlist
Something about that company doesn’t feel right to me. There is something off about them. To date, I have always preferred the sound of stainless over titanium. From all of my trails and the experience I had, the drone from and exhaust like that would likely be unacceptable to me.
It’s understandable that the drone might not be acceptable to you. We’re all different, but what about JCR rubs you the wrong way? Their build quality is second to none and their customer service is the same. Just wondering what your experience with them has been to come to this conclusion? No animosity here, just truly curious.
Also the sound between titanium vs stainless is purely subjective. Although the current 991 RSR has titanium exhaust and it sounds epic...
There is just something lacking. Maybe it's authenticity. I also don't like how they tag and spam other people's social platforms.
Ahh I really want a Porsche now. But I only have BMW money :(
Working on a beautiful German car requires torque specs,Not Guttentight
Thats great to know. Tell us more.
Why is in low quality 360p or 144p
This is asked a LOT, YT has to process it, he isn't uploading it in low format
ts6141 cool still a good video 👍🏻
The worst part of catless is the stench, to me.
Does it feel strange to have people stand there and watch you and film?
It doesn't. Even with editing and uploading the videos, I have this feeling when the camera is on that I'm live and you are sitting on a stool watching me. That's why you don't see a bunch of cuts when I'm speaking like other channels. I'm talking to my "buddies" that just don't talk back. When someone is actually there in person, I have the exact same sensation, so it doesn't effect me.
Yellowing? Bro its a petrol car My diesel Without dpf catless my car is white and i have no smoke at all so your petrol cant be that worst that it makes your car yellow brur :D just say it you like to fuck around with Exhausts and Diys
sounds like too raspy
There isn't any rasp with this system. There is with catless race headers.
How to make an expensive car sound like a ricer
You've lost your mind.
My guy, you complain a lot. Be grateful for what you have and curb the pessimism.
