    So they have moved the Cube from the Roland name to the Boss name, smart. Roland Cubes have always been the best combo amps under 10” speaker for me. This will be a great product.

      I had an old roland keyboard amp from the 80s or early 90s and it sounded amazing with an ibanez classic metal pedal in front (the soundtank version was a great pedal) but that was back in like y2k era and it had a 4×3in speaker setup...four 3in speakers... and now all these modelling amps are coming out with similar setups and it makes me think they were way ahead of their time. All my friends back then had like peavey rage 158s or some equivalent but you never saw small amps with multiple 3s... it was always 10 or 15w driving a 6 or 8 in speaker and that seems to be going away with these katana and cube and blackstar amps... just a thought that had been kicking around for a while now.

    I finally picked up a Cube, a 15w cube xl, and I specifially hunted for one of these smaller ones. They blow me away for the tone out of such a small package, and im used to playing my Vox Ac15, Peavey Classic, Blackstars HT-20, and my Boss katana. Ten years ago I bought this FS-6 pedal as a remote foot control for my DAW, when I just started using one, with all strugling that comes with it, like MIDI CC codes etc. I tried a ten buck chinese pedal for this simple function, but couldn't make that work, probably something with the latch/momentary thing. The FS-6 is great. It also costs a lot of money (which is not the same as expensive to me). It is about a quarter of the price of the amp, I see. I think you would do a lot of potential buyers a great favor and sell more Cubes when you'd test some 10-20 bucks pedals whether they work or not as an on/off switch for the looper. A large part will buy the FS-6 after a year, probably, it being more solid, but I think you'd save buyers in the beginners market the initial frustrating choice between 60 quid extra to make the looper work or buying the incomplete, looperless thing (Any which way you loop, starring Clint Eastloop)..

The Cube Street 2 lists for only $135 more (which also seems way too much) and the 6.5" vs 4" speakers alone would make that a better choice in my opinion. I've got one of these arriving soon and I'm pretty excited about it. Haven't decided if the Bluetooth adapter is really worth the cost. I will try without first and see if the phone/tablet app can work via Camera Connection Kit (direct USB cable). Even if not, I question how much I would really need to adjust the parameters in that much detail. As best I can tell, you already have tempo controls for the time-based effects and full EQ settings on the dash. Not sure how often I would need to change the type of delay, etc., though it's obviously helpful for playing backing tracks.
    One thing I wonder about is the best way to hook up an external modeler (like HX Stomp) if your patches are mono. I suppose I could just run two cables than then have a "dual mono" output? It's confusing because their "flat" setting is named "stereo", so I don't want to hook up one cable and have just the left speaker playing! Documentation isn't really clear if it sums to stereo or not with just one cable plugged in. Anyone know?

      Not sure about it myself, was thinking of getting one to for my multi effects pedal. I have heard just putting the amp selector on the Jc clean sounds just as good though so might just do that.

    Question: so the Katana has an acoustic preamp, but the Cube LX has an acoustic simulator. Can you run an acoustic into a Cube LX?

    Tried a bass one today. Though fx weren’t great, sound was great for such a compact amp. Also could do some wedges or angled back to point it up and out. Expensive but beautiful.

    Good demo but seems too costly for such a small amp despite having a looper which was heavily mentioned. Too bad boss.

    Pleased they've got drums in the bass amp. Vox appear to have stopped making their mini practice amps with drums. These can work as a practice amp and performing amp as well. Small size is going to be a benefit for many living in small spaces cities.

      Vox still shows the Mini 5 Rhythm on their website, and all three new Vox Mini Go amps also have a drum machine built in.

    I realy like this amp and you guys make amazing video's. I do have 1 question left. How is Pete running the mic in the beginning of the video?
    I got a few mic's with XLR output and i don't think i can put one of these into the amp since there is no xlr to be found on it. This is fine, i got some none xlr ones too but i am really wondering if he just switched the cable or if there is any way to plug in a mic and use this at the same time as a guitar? Do i need to use the recording live streaming thing for this or can my voice come out of the amp at the same time as the mic sound? Hope this is clear enough.

    Yeah that thing is nice lads. I wish I hadn't already bought my spark, I think I like yours better. I have to have an external looper or shell out a hundred bucks for a bluetooth foot-pedal. And no stereo outs. That's a lot of features for a very modest price.

    Man these are confusing. They're great and probably worth the price, but because the Katana 50 costs _even less_ than this, it makes this seem overpriced in my brain.

    • @deaddoll1361
      @deaddoll1361 Před 2 lety +3

      Maybe your brain would be less confused if you lumped that Katana around a lot, along with the weight of a battery/inverter.

  • @SeanDS89

    I'm glad this has reverb! That's one thing I wish my Boss mini amp had... also, you guys mentioned you can connect the boss app to this (with the dongle). Does that allow you to add various FX? or is it just a convenient way to control the FX that are already included with the amp?

    • @DougMen1
      @DougMen1 Před 2 lety +1

      You can get a reverb effect from the Katana mini by turning the delay time all the way down. Reverb is just a very very short delay

    • @SeanDS89
      @SeanDS89 Před 2 lety
