  • I started an experiment to figure out what was the best way to change the silver colour of my pewter findings, and decided to film it! Unfortunately, the lighting was TERRIBLE. I did my best in post-processing, but the quality just sucks until 23:00, which is where the results and my ratings begin. Feel free to skip to that point :)

Thank you so much Gayle - you literally did exactly what I would've had to do (thus saving me $ and hassle) and answered every single question I had without having to ask it! The only product I didn't see you try is Gilder's Paste by Baroque / Jacquard... but I have that one and could try it myself (dries up like the Inca Gold does). Btw, really pretty finished products and I'm not just talking about the bails!

Have you thought of using Rub N' Buff in pewter? That may give you a better finish.

Gayle, did you seal any of these test samples? I'm wondering if they wear off easily.

I did! Krylon spray. Generally I'd say wax finishes ARE a sealant but I do like to spray some items.
