  • On Saturday 3rd March 1956, the line from Yelverton to Princetown finally closed. Many people had petitioned that the line should stay open, since there weren’t enough roads for local traffic, but the Department of Transport did not listen.
Now, in 2022, the line would have been a thing of beauty, being able to have a wonderful train journey, across the majestic views on Dartmoor, would have had the tourist flocking in their thousands. Such a shame.
Closed in 1956, the line from Yelverton to Princetown had some of the most beautiful view in the UK, overlooking Dartmoor of South Devon. The DVD YELVERTON TO PRINCETOWN - RAILS ACROSS THE MOOR has exclusive archive cine film, and memories from some of the people that remember the line and is available from our website : tinyurl.com/yt...

We can't imagine how popular it would have been today! People would have loved it.
