3 points. Fun practice video! I've been doing static in the garage while watching random youtube videos, now it feels like I'm doing it with others while watching these. Good stuff!

    22:39 Tommy T! Awesome video.
I really liked the antics that came with the live stream involving your children. It adds a real life perspective to the whole working our sport/hobby into daily grind. Spending time with our family while working on improving our skills, PRICELESS.
Keep up the good work and Thank You for sharing your journey.

Your vids are a big help and inspiration for me. Totally true what you say: measure your progress and let the muscles in your body learn by themselves. This way I don't get frustrated and stay motivated. After years of motocross I bought my Ossa 3 weeks ago. Since then, with 2 times 30 mins of practice, I managed to hit over 6 minutes of static balance at most days! (front tire turned left, front brake applied, tires around 6 psi)

This is soo hard for me I almost gave it up on my 250 dirt bike. But after seeing this channel I’m gonna keep practicing I started a 30 static balance training it’s hard but worth it.🙏🏾

Awesome, just have fun with it. So easy to get frustrated. Let some air out of the tires to get more balance time with your feet on the pegs. As you learn the balance correction adjustments, adding air back in the tires it'll be easier since your automated balance responses will be developed.

I liked the video. You are providing a great service. I do have two questions. In all the static balance videos I have ever seen none have ever addressed technique of lifting a leg to gain balance. I have never gotten this technique to work for myself. Let's say I am losing balance to the left. I raise my right leg to move my center of gravity to the right. But when I raise my leg more weight is placed on my left foot causing me to tip more to the left. What am I missing? A second question deals with focus of your eyes. I have always heard that it is better to focus at a point at some distance for better balance. I notice that your gaze is always down at the handlebars. Obviously this works for you. What are your thoughts and recommendations for the point of focus for better balance?

Hey Thomas, thanks for driving the conversation deeper. Good questions. I feel the focal point should be about 5 ft in front of your tires. It helps to be able to see the horizon line. I might have been gazing too far down honestly.
As for the lifting of the leg to counterweight. Probably best described in another video. The leg lift is mostly used when wheel is straight. I don't feel it's the same Advantage when wheel is turned. but I have found it very helpful when the front wheel is straight. Have you tried riding skinnies? Like 2x4 or down tree? That's where you'll find yourself learning the counterbalance of lifting a leg. Especially if you ride slower. You can do this same drill on a crack in driveway with much less risk.
To answer your question, yes, your left foot would have all the weight bc you are falling left anyways, you have limited options. Can't turn wheel left, can't counterbalance with hands off bars. Only option is lift right leg. You can't suddenly put more weight on your right foot as there's no way to recover to get weight onto the right side.
Try this, just stand on both feet on floor. Feet shoulder width. Now lean left, keep leaning, keep leaning head to left.... Eventually all weight is on left foot and right leg comes up trying to counter balance to keep you from falling over... It works and you can usually recover back to both feet on ground.
Does that little drill help? Try the balance beam rode as well. It'll start to click on that. Then same transfers to wheel straight static.

That is a great game. I will play it as soon as I recover enough from a fall I took the other day, but I agree this is great winter play. I think you may have forgotten a couple points in the one handed right side balance, but who's counting? I suspect I'll be over 7 myself.. need to work on the no hands version and the seated version. I haven't tried those much. Thanks!!!!
