Making the Circle Driveway Wider - 7 More Loads of Gravel Added to the Driveway

- Today we are going to widen the circle driveway in front of our house. The driveway isn't wide enough to park on and have enough room to drive around. So we are going to double the width of the driveway and make it 30 feet wide. We are laying down Typar or non-woven Geo-textile and covering that with gravel. We are also making a parking area off one side that we will later cover with a carport.

Thanks for mentioning the approx expense. We built 650' back on 5 acres in Wisconsin and the driveway has been a battle. Snow removal, pot holes, raking, etc... Concrete is the answer, but $$. Now we just have concrete by the house and lime stone screenings to the road. That seems to work pretty good.
I can see if you have a lot of snow removal, that would tear up the driveway.
Your place is looking amazing so much you have already done to it great work👍
Evan , a tip for you. I love your videos. But any Camera person will tell you , relax and stop looking at the camera. I’m glad to see your lovely wife getting used to the process of the videos. Great farm . Was my Dream when I was younger.
.
You have a great place.
You can adjust the height of your 3 point hitch so it does not dig in, set it on the lever you lift and lower the hitch with. Works like a charm once you get the right height. also tip the front up a bit with the top link and it will float over loose gravel and smooth like a road grader. Box blades are great but take setting up a bit to get good results.
Wow, that looks great !
Something to keep in mind we've used an old metal box spring to level our driveway off.. we've used it to level our hay field after we planted them also...
Love the circle driveway, looks great! ❤ Can't help but notice the dog house in the background, missing Comet 💔 Glad your thinking of getting another dog.🐶
Really nice.Evan, Looks great.
12,000 dollars well spent. Nice work!
Looks great!
Looks good 👍🇺🇸😎
Before I watch this one I wanted to inform you that you can get the cost on raising the pigs down to 72 cents per pound it's not that hard. I have got some down as low as 64 cents. Hang in there if you have a day old bread store close to you you can get a truck load of bread cookies ect for around 12.00 or in some cases free.
The driveway is looking very good. I look forward to the progression of your improvements. Art in CA
Evan, good idea for the driveway. Certainly makes it better. What’s happening with your hay field that was sprayed with roundup
My next video will be an update on the hay field. I should post it saturday.
Evan, keep up the hard work. I’ve been watching for years and currently deployed overseas. My wife and I can’t wait to start our homestead when I retire. Your home is amazing! If you could do it over what would you change? Keep your videos coming......
Your home looks good keep up the hard work.
Job well done Evan
Looks great. Gravel ain’t cheap however.
Driveway looks really good Evan. I also have been wondering about the hey field, anything new? Hi to Rebecca.
I will post a video this weekend about the hay field and what I think is going to happen.
Great looking driveway, great video as always
😂
NIce!!!
Good job Evan...it's a pleasure following the progress of your dream farmstead...so far you accomplish almost everything that I'm fighting for... congratulations on your efforts... wishing one day stopping by for a visit... keep up the good work.
😂
I know this video is super old but Everytime I watch it I think of another video I watched on a different channel. If you use horticultural vinager on the weeds that come up it will kill them for the spring/summer and fall. It has to be horticultural vinager because it has 20 percent vinager versus 5-6 percent in household vinager. There are videos, I'm sure I the exact formula to use in a sprayer. I saw it on a channel called Fy Nyth. She knows SO MUCH about horticulture in general.
Looks really good. I am no expert by any means, but adjusting the top link on your tractor might help with using the box blade. I am still learning how to use one myself. Right now our driveway on our 35 acre property is just a clay/sand mix (North Florida). Estimated length is probably about half the length of yours (roughly 250 yards). They are going to be re-paving the highway that our property is on and I'm hoping to get a deal on asphalt millings once they get to work on it.
around and around you go.
smart design of driveway, most roads interchanges flow doesn't exist, most places😏
Your property is wonderful. personal thought: if I could live in a house like this, with a large courtyard area like this, I would go barefoot all the time.
Don't u love it when the gravel truck driver is experienced enough to spread the gravel from the truck?
That is a very pretty home. In what American state is this located? I only new york city.
Looks great bud! The homestead is coming along! Have you thought about a new farm/livestock dog yet?
We have been considering it, but we may wait till spring.
@@CountryViewAcres That's a good call. Give it some time!
Looks good, wondering about longevity with it now.
Did you patch that thin section too? Is it working better for you?
I want to make a gravel parking pad for my place & I hope to get away with pea gravel,
I had an issue with wet conditions & being on the ground. Hoping 2-3" of gravel can make that go away. 1/4 mile drive way with usable circle terminus about 12k. Pretty close to 1700' off road/main hiway good privacy.
Thanks for sharing
Yea, I didn't show the thin section, I had a lot going on that day. They covered it with a layer of gravel and it helped a lot.
Check out the timber frame barn/garage kit build on Lumnah Acres. It's really awesome. It would look great with your home.
Yes, it would look great next to the house. But I wouldn't have the time to build it. Al's barn is turning out great.
Can I just spread the gravel nd pack them down good without black plastic liner and dig out the grass?
I was hoping you'd post a new video soon. The driveway looks great! Did the hay field recover?
I will post a video this weekend on the hay field situation.
An old bed spring set work good as a drag
I used to have one, but it got all bent and bowed up. I used to use it on food plots.
will not take long for grass to grow thru the stone that was not covered properly
Evan, is that the tractor that you were going to sell, or is it the other one ? I'm looking for one.
It was the other tractor. But I haven't sold it yet. I am second guessing that decision. Having a backup tractor has been useful.
What or Who built your Home? Are you going to have a Tour of it?
The house is from countrymark log homes. I had an amish builder, build it. I finished the inside. I have never done a tour video yet. I still might one day.

A land plane would probably work well.
Looks good. What rig do you use to record your videos?
Now I am using a Canon 90d, gopro hero8, Samsung s10, and a DJI mavik air. Not sure what was used in this video.
Thanks! i just saw a frame in the shadow that looked interesting was just curious thanks so much. really enjoying your videos.
@@johnthompsonii8335 , that is the holder for my cell phone. It is a ulanzi U-rig.
@@CountryViewAcres Ahhhh. Thanks a ton have a great day.
out of the $12,000 total cost, how much was all of the gravel?
About $2000 was probably the typar. And the rest was rock and delivery.
landplane.
I would love to have a land plane. They seem like the best solution.

YOUNG MAN ,
BACK DRAG WITH LOAD IN FRONT BUCKET AT FIRST , THEN DUMP LOAD DO THIS ALL OVER AGAIN , UNTIL U GET THUR !
You need a newer tractor
I looks at new tractors all the time. I wish I had money to buy one. We decided to build a pole barn/work shop first. So I probably won't get a newer tractor for a few years.
You talk too much.. Their are alot more channels they talk too lesa and work more.. We want 90% action and 10% talk.. Please
Seriously?
I actually prefer how he explains what he's doing, why he's doing it, and how much it costs. I've watched a ton of his videos and have to say the action/talk ratio is perfect. Keep up the great work Evan - Eric (From West Central Illinois)
