This is the best guide i've found. I picked the game up a few months ago, but immediately gave up after trying to get through a way too long tutorial. I have just learned hoi4, and was getting bored with that, so I figured i'd try vic again. Your turorial made this really nice and painless, so thank you!
My first Paradox game was Hearts of Iron 4, but when I saw Bismarck on the Victoria II cover, I knew that the game will be good. It may not be a full tutorial, but I am thankful, because there is really a lot to do in Victoria II. Thank you, sir!
Awesome guide. You explain what needs to be explained and nothing more. You don't treat the viewer like a complete moron but you also know what's not going to be obvious to beginners
Thanks dude - I vowed to finally figure Victoria 2 out this time, and yours and a few other tutorials are really helping me feel like I know what i'm doing... plus I decided to play as Sardinia-Piedmont too, to have Italy as a potential event to look forward to if I make it.

I would say however that it's probably not a 'beginner's guide' and is more of a tips and tricks video, not a criticism of the content just that it wasn't that useful for someone like me who has literally just started playing. I probably need something that goes through the proper basics of how countries function/what different pops mean/how the tech system works etc, rather than the most optimal choices from them. Hope that's constructive criticism!
Sardinia-Piedmont's kind of like a mini-Austria with all these nationalities. (4:20) 2:22 Another thing to note is that this tech line has Inventions that give Plurality (read: Research Point boost).
thanks this was a useful startup :) i just dont realy understand why i cant build any factories as brazil, do i need to get like monarch factory points through literacy to get a factory build slot?
You can't build factories because your government doesn't allow for it initially as Brazil. If you go into your politics tab, choose a political party that allows for State Capitalism. This will give you the ability to manage your factories directly, but keep in mind that the ability to pick and choose your ruling political party is only available for Absolute Monarchies/Prussian Constitutionalism/HM's Governments. Democracies will vote based on your populations' desires. Also keep in mind that installing a party that most of your people aren't clamoring for will anger them a bit.

I could do a vid on Victoria 2's colonization, but rule of thumb lies on the min. life rating techs you need to research. Should be obvious when if you hover over the min. rating if I remember correctly. EU4 colonization is really basic and honestly isn't that important outside of securing trade node centers/ensuring any good resource nodes like gold are under your control. V2 colonization is a bit more interesting because there are some really valuable areas such as in Africa, which can fuel an industry that you might not otherwise be able to manage.

I thought that 5 art 4 inf 1 cav was a better comp because you could get a full backline of artillery
