    Great job! The initial pictures you took of the balloon should be convincing enough to any reasonable person. You could tell me that's the same object and I'd believe it.

    As a pilot and camera enthusiast, I can tell you that's a balloon. Cameras enlongate obtects that move really fast through the frame. I dodge balloons and birds all the time during takeoffs and landings. Someone just happened to be pointing the camera out the window when it happened.

      I‘m a UFO believer, simply because I think there is life out there but I didn‘t believe in this nonsense. Until proven, it id important to approach things with skepticism and rationality - as opposed to believing something is a „ufo“. At first, I thought it was a blimp.

    That was excellent Kenny! Whenever I think the mystery is solved, you go one farther and really nail it. I guess the only mystery remaining is was it a #7 or #1 balloon? So sad that the media plays this angle up instead of something more interesting like solving the mystery.

    What kind of damage would a balloon like this do to a jet engine if it was sucked in?

    • @George89999
      @George89999 Před 4 měsíci +1

      An interesting question, from what little I found with a quick search *probably* not much since they have little mass and aren't very solid, but what I found might be wrong.
      I do know though that they can get snagged on aircraft and some of Boeing's jets had a flawed automatic anti-stall system (called M.C.A.S.) which could be erroneously triggered by a balloon getting snagged on an external sensor causing the plane to crash.

    The term 'UFO' really says nothing - it was flying, and nobody knew what it was. The alien believers need a stronger term to make their opinions clear - I propose 'Conventionally Unidentifiable, New To Science'

    If the relative speed of the plane makes this balloon fly past so quickly then the ground and New York should fly past as quick if indeed this is a stationary balloon .
    The window of the plane and New York below are fixed points of reference that prove that this object is traveling very very fast .
    Simple physics. The law of relativity .

    • @DavidB5501
      @DavidB5501 Před 4 měsíci +3

      No. Hold your hand out at arms length, stationary, with something distant in the background. Now move your head quickly to one side. Your hand will appear to move rapidly against the background, in a direction opposite to the movement of your head, while the background itself hardly moves at all. This is simple geometric optics. I can't draw a diagram for you here, but the point should be obvious enough to show your argument is fallacious.

    • @nicholasmeal7446
      @nicholasmeal7446 Před 4 měsíci

      @@DavidB5501 you can tell the object is fairly distant so your argument is flawed . Sorry .

    • @TheRealSpencerMarks
      @TheRealSpencerMarks Před 4 měsíci +2

      The farther out an object, the slower it appears to transition. When you drive on the open highway, the fence posts near the car fly by while the distant mountains creep by. The balloon was close, the skyline was far away… sorry, you’re wrong. BTW, I’m a pilot and I’ve flown by birds and balloons and it’s exactly the same thing.

    • @theferrit32
      @theferrit32 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Go outside within 20 miles of an airport and look at the sky until you find an airplane. That airplane is probably going over 250 miles per hour. But it doesn't zip by you quickly. It is miles away, so the angular velocity relative to you is quite low even though its linear speed is high. But say there was a car on a stretch of road 100 ft away from you. If that car drove past you at 250 mph, it would pass by you at a very high angular rate, you'd have to snap your head around to watch it as it passed by. The metric that affects whether something "looks like" it is going fast is the angular velocity relative to the observer's line of sight, not the linear velocity of the object.
