    Jim Cummings (who was also King Louie's voice actor for TaleSpin and the wraparounds of the Jungle Cubs compilation movie, "Born to Be Wild", which also resulted in a lawsuit from Louis Prima's widow) provided King Louie's voice for the narrated parts of this book on tape.

    First TIME EVER I'm going to ENJOY this "Jungle Book" in English, or in Spanish, for what that matters!!
    Thank you so much!

    My cassette tape as a child had a different narrator on it. I think it was an older version of the narration. The tape label was the same as the one shown here though. It wasn't the older cream-colored label.

      @@Beetlemuse Well, the early prints of the 1990s edition have the original narrating voice (I mean Laurie Main who is also Bagheera), but I bet this version with Bob Machray as Bagheera/the narrator is the mid-90s version.

    When I was a kid, I heard this tape in school. Sadly, they didn't have the book that was for the tape.
    Had Disney considered it, it would've been great to hear Mae Whitman as Shanti tell the story of The Jungle Book 2, though I do know someone else did that.
    The introductory would go like this:
    "Hi, there. I'm Shanti, Mowgli's friend. I'm here to tell you the story of how he and Baloo were reunited and was once again pursued by Shere Khan. You can read along with me in your book. Be sure to turn the page when you hear this sound. (harp strings) Let's begin now."

      @abeiscool40 Před 2 lety +5

      Shanti: “At, first I didn’t believe Mowgli when he said that he originally came from the jungle, but believe it or not, Mowgli did indeed grow up in the jungles of India with his best friends Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the Panther. Mowgli told us all about his adventures before he came to our village. He told us about how he took on Shere Khan, a vicious man-eating tiger who Mowgli tied a burning tree branch to his tail. I didn’t believe his stories at all though, because I wasn’t very fond of the jungle.”

    Did anyone else have this with the audio double pitched? I have one that came in a carrying case with 101 Dalmatians 1996 on it. The tape had Bambi on one side and The Jungle Book on the other side of the tape and it played double tone.

    Do you have the 90s version of this? There seems to be two versions of the 90s one (I think). The one I had have the songs from the old LP version of the songs (not the same as the Disney movie versions).
