I’ve also got a 2006 SLK 350. The first thing people snidely ask is “How much did you have to pay for it?” I never answer them, but of course they offer their opinions. They’re always way over. It’s a great car to drive in Chicago. Small, light, gets up to speed very quickly, easy to maneuver and it turns heads wherever we go. I love it, and most importantly, my wife adores it. Enjoy your car, whatever it is.
I think that's the key. If you love whatever you can afford who cars. I'm still enjoying my 21 year old Corolla with 300k klms. I love Euro cars and if I had my pick I'd get the new RS3 hatch or the AMG A45s.
i have a 2005 slk 350 in Brazil...and i love my car...it has 57,000 km...and perfect 🎉

I’ve got a black 2006 SLK 350 with tan interior. I’m sorry you had to go through that, but am happy you and the car came out unscathed. It did seem to cut your review of the car short, and I can see why. I absolutely love my car and am very protective of it. And best of all my wife loves the looks we get with the top up or down. Thank you for sharing.

Those kangaroos are so well camouflaged against the dry grass and they corner and accelerate like a house fly. It's Russian roulette.
I have a 2005 summer run around. The acceleration and noise for a none turbo are pretty brutal. Great fun with the roof down.
Does your car have an after market exhaust?
Mine is a 2008 Black SLK350 with Tan interior. Great car. The one and only thing I'd change is I'd prefer a Manual but have to say the 7sp auto is one of the best and I use the paddleshift all the time. Such a good drive!
I agree. All sports cars should have a manual option.
I still fondly remember how well the car accelerated. A big engine in a little car makes for a great driving experience.

@@desirabledrives44 I've heard there were only 5 manual examples of the R171 SLK 350 imported to Australia, so very rare.

Nice. I have the 2013 SLK 350 AMG in black. I get compliments on my car almost every week. I'm looking for a tow hitch.
What extra goodies does the AMH get?
@@desirabledrives44 --- My AMG came with beautiful creme color seats. The only extra item is the LED emblem on the front grill area and tinted windows. I don't like a lot of gaudy stuff on my luxury car. Sorry, I don't know or care about that under the hood stuff. I saw it and bought it. 😎
Got it - when driving an SLK in Queensland make sure you have brown seats. Been up through that way during the bushfire crisis when the drought was in full force in the mid 00s, not for the feint of heart.
It's very dry up here again unfortunately. We could definitely do with a downpour or 10.
@@desirabledrives44 Remember going out to stay at a friend's place, on the way out we passed a CFA truck doing their nightly patrol. Next day we went the opposite direction - passed the same damn crew, they'd been at it 24 hours at least. All along the road were small spot fires they'd put out where arseholes had thrown cigarettes out the window of the car and it started a small fire, these guys had been putting them out all night. The amount of damage and number of lives they had saved - it's quite literally impossible to calculate.
It scares me that this is happening again - it was so damn dry that time my nose kept bleeding over and over from the air being quite that dry. I'm now in the UK where we had surprising periods of dry weather but nothing even close to that; a proper British drought is where it only rains 3 times a day rather than 4 or more.
I've got very fond memories of the UK. We were invited over for a week 20 odd years ago by my wife's then employer. They put us up at the Petwood Hotel in Lincolnshire which was the Officer's Mess for 617 squadron "Dam Busters". The countryside was so beautiful. We went into London near Piccadilly Circus and I was very taken with the architecture. My highlight though was seeing the Concord take off at night time with the afterburners thundering at Heathrow Airport.
If I ever win lotto I'd move to the English countryside in a heartbeat.
@@desirabledrives44I live in Berkshire, about 9km's from Windsor Castle - stunning area, real convertible territory (though sadly I'm housebouind with a serious back injury but I can live vicariously through SLK reviews!). BTW what are those going for in Oz, here the R171 350's averaging about £4-8k depending on nic, etc.
@@davocc2405 that model ranges between $12k-$30k AUD right now.

Any advice on how I can improve? I'm going to get better sound very soon but I'm limited by picture quality for a little while yet.
Just try to be a little active than you are, I almost slept...dress lightly too, choose warmer days..@@desirabledrives44
