I was working in security with a cool older white man named Mr.Toddwick. My girlfriend broke up with me after 7 years and I was crushed I mean destroyed Mr. Toddwick let me take a shot of his whiskey put this song on for me and told me to just listen. Man, when I say this song hits too the heart and soul. He looked at me and said this is what he listened to after his wife divorced and took his daughters and moved to Wales. Great Man Mr Toddwick was. Bless That Man And Marshall Tucker

Beautiful memory of your parents and this song. I'm 12 years older than you and born and bred in Los Angeles friggin' CA. But I was a serious rock bass player back in the Hollywood/Pasadena days, and Marshall Tucker's music truly spoke to me then, as it does to this day.
Tell you the truth, "Heard It In A Love Song" just about tells the story about me and a girl friend in the past. She WAS the one but I always kept "thinking about tomorrow today". Damnit. Still brings tears to this rambler's eyes.

My Mom & Dad used to come over and watch Stuart and us play music at his house as he lived only one street over from me. That boy could pick a guitar like nobody's business - even when he was just 15 years old. Mom, Dad and Stuart are gone now. I live in Florida these days, but when I hear the opening notes of this song I get a little lump in my throat thinking of home and lost loved ones. P.S. I remember driving from an old gf's house when I was young. She lived in Arizona and I lived in California. I was in the middle of nowhere young and heartbroken. This song came on the radio... I can't explain what it did but I cried like a baby. When it was done I felt new... I stopped and ran through a field. I really felt like I learned more about myself that day. I'm so happy this song was made.

I've heard many songs today that utilize the strings, orchestral. My favorite rock band of today tours with a cello and violin. But yeah, not many have winds today. I saw a foo fighters acoustic set that had a violinist also. The only classic rock band that comes to mind is Kansas with the violin, but there are probably others.

The first time I heard this song was in 2004. I was working as a pizza delivery guy for a restaurant called Five Star Pizza while going to college in Gainesville, Florida. I always liked classic rock, so I would dial the Classic Rock station from the town while driving all the time. One day some black guy called the restaurant from one of the motels on Archer Rd ordering a pizza for delivery. I took that pizza and when I knocked on the door, no one would answer. 5 minutes or so passed, and I was about to give up and go back to the restaurant when a naked lady with blond hair, and a face you could tell had been rough up from a few Johns before, came to the door and pay for the pizza. She was naked like it was nothing and the black guy who called for the delivery, was on the bed watching tv. In the motel they were playing this song. Not a month passed by and one day after class I went to a bar in town looking for a girl to have a good time. Then all of the sudden I see this street walking lady again. I knew by looking at her eyes she had suffered all her life, and I am not lying when I say that this song was being played at the bar at that moment too. It felt weird, like it meant something. I never talked to her, I didn't see her after that ever again, and yet, whenever I hear this song, I can't help but to think of her. I still find that a bit strange. I was born in Lima - Peru, and now I live in the States, love Classic Southern Rock, have a nice house and family and a good job. But College, that pizza delivery job and all the stories from those times, left a mark in me.

Mine died this past June 12th. Haven't really realized I'll never speak to him...at least whilst spinning on this dying planet. ✌

    No auto tune....
    No pathetic, repetitious tripe...
    No sampling....
Real honest lyrics with real honest music played on real instruments...
    This music will never return.

Something interesting I read: Toy Caldwell, who died of heart failure in 1993, was the band's guitarist and wrote most of their songs. His wife Abbie Caldwell told us: "He didn't read music, and played by ear. He jotted down words on any piece of paper available."

your so right. today's music has no soul, no depth, no feeling. Today's music is just fake. They're kids singing about things they've never felt or experienced.

Y'all are just looking in the wrong places. There's significantly more music today than there has ever been before, so a lot of this style gets lost among the chaff.

This was my mom and dad's song. They'd both always turn up the radio when this song came on. My dad passed away in 2018, and whenever I hear this I feel like it's him saying hello. Always makes me cry.

1975 to 1981 created the most awesome music available to humanity. The artists were so versed in their craft it produced incredible work.
It began to die around Madonna and Wham. It's been dying ever since. A few exceptions here and there, but dying none the less.

Can picture everything Toy’s singing here, a tale as old has time. They sure were storytellers their harmonies & musicianship are off the charts great. A favorite band.
