Fun fact about Dominica:
It is one of two current flags to contain purple, the other being Nicaragua. And the bird on it is called the Imperial amazon. A bird found only on the island. And yes, they are quite purple. Because of the island’s natural beauty, they have used the island as a backdrop for Pirates of the Caribbean

Pancakes are usually more purple on one side but if you cook it a bit longer than normal it is blue
The other side is usually red and it doesn't change color unless you heat it for a really really really long time

Columbia, Equador and Venezuela were one country once. Therefore the same colours. (true) The stars show the curved coast of Venezuela. (false) A stone dropped into the colours. It sank until the equator stopped it. (false)
Chile wanted to sell chilis to the USA. To make them more comfortable they copied parts of the US flag. (false)
Guyana, Surinam and Bolivia have African flags and Peru is the Austria of South America.

Well, he uses the principles of the Art of Memory or Mnemonic. The first of this techniques was invented by Simonides of Keos. Men like Aristotle, Cicero and Thomas Aquinas wrote on the topic. Artists like Harry Lorrayne - search for his books - used it in there shows. In the last decades scientists have researched it and the mnemonic techniques work very well. In old greek 'mneme' means memory and 'Mnemosyne' was the goddess of Memory. You don't have to speak the first 'm'. It was once a sign, that you start speaking the 'n' with closed lips, something that most people wouldn't even hear. Have you ever heard of the 'major system' for remembering numbers? Or the 'loci method' and the 'memory palace'? Those belong to the art of memory, too. (2 edits done for more information and better spelling.)

Some of American flags are similar because of their history. Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador (as well as Panama) were parts of Viceroyalty of New Granada, Gran Colombia and New Granada (not Viceroyalty), and Guatemala, Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua (and Costa Rica) were parts of Viceroyalty of New Spain, Mexico and Federal Republic of Central America.

When Jack started this series with learning the countries in Europe, even I started learning things like that & I now know 197/197 world countries, 50/50 us states, 28/28 Indian states, 45/50 US state capitals, 143/197 world capitals & 103/197 world flags. When I saw Jack learning the flags of the world, even I decided to give it a try & I got 76/197 on my first try (even though I knew about 30) because of Jack's ways of memorizing the flags. Thank you Jack for helping me use my time more productively. ❤

I wanted to do this but with more places so I chose N/S America and Oceania, for SA I got all of them on my second try, NA I got all of them on my third try and Oceania I got all of them on my second try again. Just did Asia and got them on the second try. Just did Africa and on my 4th attempt I gave up because I only forgot Ghana and if it wasn’t glitchy I would have beat it since it restarted the quiz.

I've recently learned all the flags of the world and I have some tips that helped me:
Rhyming (E.G. "the one with the star, is Myanmar" because Myanmar has a big star)
Sounds (E.G. Slovenia and Slovakia sound very similar, and they have very similar flags)
Links (E.G. The colours of Hungary represent food)
Personal (E.G. The Guinea flag is vertically striped red, yellow and green. I had a guinea pig when I was younger called Ruby (she had red eyes) and red is the first colour)
Observations (E.G. Central African Republic has a blue line down the centre)
Links (E.G. Panama looks like some photos together)
Observations (E.G. Micronesia has very little on it and "micro" means small)

1:44 that’s actually true, when you pronounce chile this way 1:46 for Latin-American people it sounds like "chili" the condiment, but if you pronounce it this way 1:45 it sounds like the real name.
