- In this video I show you the lace cutter made by C.S.Osborne. It is called the "western lace cutter" and can be found under the product number 1000.
The cutter itself uses an interesting way of cutting lace.
Enjoy the video!
Such a clear and thoughtful explanation.
I used to use one of those plastic lace makers or a strander tool, but I find it less wasteful to cut from the outside and nowadays I just use scissors
I use one that cuts from the side of the material, but its disadvantage is it doesn't work as well with really thin and supple leather, but other than that it's great. It's called an Australian Strander.
Hey!
Thank you for commenting!
Yeah, the strander is a good tool for sure. It is a gem for leather lace! With rawhide you often want to go really thin.

Greta explanation- thanks!
great video, thanks
I made a home made cutter which works better than any I bought on a wider range of leathers. Just involved a nut and bolt, a blade and two bits of wood.
There's plenty of home made ones on CZcams. The Osbourne one looks kinda dangerous, awkward and easy to slip up making a mess of the leather and your fingers.
Interesting. It does look bit challenging. That looks like a lot of waste if you don't have projects that need circles of leather. I'd guess 100/100 cows don't like it. : )
Hey!
With any lace cutting there is some waste. With a traditional cutter (that cuts on the outside) you make a "round", a circle, so you have to cut some leather off as well.
