Busy Areas and Quiet Areas
Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
Busy Areas and Quiet Areas… During your next visit to a museum, add this technique to your "art appreciation" list. When looking at paintings, I search for the overall composition, the graphic design and the visual impact. Next, I look for two sections: the busy area and the quiet area. Think of a seemingly chaotic Jackson Pollock abstract - within the meandering composition I also discover a quiet area for visual rest. That visual rest is a reprieve from the crazy, entangled surroundings.
When I am working abstractly, I find that I create a quiet area with soft colors - right in the middle of nervous, bold, colorful lines and shapes. You get the idea. After spending time looking at a visually busy painting, I need a quick breather to a more peaceful section - then back again to the busy areas. Back and forth.
This technique is another way to keep your viewers engaged and another way I get my motor warmed up! Vroom vroom!

Thank you Cathy!
One thing I learned working with Frog tape is that if you think it may be stuck onto the paper use a hair dryer and warm the tape up before you pull on it. Hit the areas preceding your pull to make sure the tape doesn't rip the paper. The heat activates the adhesive and makes it easier to pull from the paper.
Thanks for all your videos presented with a lot of energy and fine art tips! ❤🙏
Thank you! I am glad you're enjoying the BobBlasts.

Thanks for the blast, Bob 🎉❤
You bet! Thanks!
Informative, as always. Thanks 🙏👏👍
Thanks!
I'd use Green Frog Tape if every roll didn't come in a single use disposable plastic container. I use green painters tape, and it comes off cleanly if you heat it with a hair dryer (which we all use for painting anyways!) as you peel it off.
Thanks for all you do, Bob. You have been an inspirational life saver for me during the pandemic years.
Thank you Pat! I appreciate your insights!

My eye does not go to your focal point Bob. It goes to the biziness
Hey - whichever focal point works for you! Thanks for your comment!
Love it! Will we get to see the finished piece?
Thanks. So many of my quick demo pieces for the BobBlasts end up being under paintings for other things!
Hi friend… please tell me the names of the brushes you use on these videos. I’ve been searching the exact type. Thank you
