Sometimes they pretend to be drunk
They actually have the narrators tell the stories a few times, then they piece together the best takes. That’s why they don’t seem consistently drunk - during some parts, they’re just buzzed, and some parts they’re smashed.

An important point of the story that he didn't mention is that Kennedy initially went to the FBI offering his services as a mole. But the FBI at that time was still run by J Edgar Hoover who was sympathetic to the Klan and their goals. So they showed no interest. Only then did Kennedy appeal to the writers of the Superman radio show. At the time, they were hungry for new villains to Superman to defeat. And Superman was the brainchild of a pair of Jews, whom the Klan also hate. So it was a perfect match.
Well said. In 1946 with WW2 being over they were short on villains so the KKK was a fit.

Bella C well It IS Comedy Central... are we even sure these stories are real? Part of Comedy Central's role in media is to make people laugh about true and important events to ease them into less important situations in society.
Because school is to teach you how to look this up to your self and research on your own, there is not enough time to go over every single impactful person in HIstory.

Again, I'm really not trying to be an asshole. It seems that Bella enjoys this show and believes the man shown is important. But if she said "I don't understand why people enjoy this" or "I don't understand why people are like this" that would go against my understanding of her comment.
I'm really trying to avoid being a pedant. You don't need perfect grammar to communicate. But the specific words you two seem to be missing, completely changes the meaning of the sentences

This was great. I actually knew Stetson. First met him when I was a paramedic and we got called to his house after he tripped over one of his Golden Retrievers and got a nasty cut on his forehead. I had no idea who he was at the time, but when I noticed the photo of him with Woodie Guthrie in his living room, we got to talking and it finally dawned on me who he was. After that, I started to swing by and check on him at his place on Beluthahachee Drive in Fruit Cove (up in Switzerland, FL in St. John’s County). He was a raconteur of the highest order.
He was such a sweet old man. Ol’ boy married Sandra when he was 90! He was sharp as a tack right up until he passed about 11 years ago.

One of the most damaging things in the shows was that the KKK leaders didn’t actually believe in the ideals of the klan and we’re just using it to milk idiots for membership fees. There’s a moment where a leader of a local chapter calls his higher ups for back up and they essentially say “oh wait you don’t really believe this crap, do you?”
I think that was the second iteration of the KKK and this was the third iteration. Also interesting fact: The first blockbuster in history glorified the aKKK

This was nice but take it from a black woman: the Klan was not defeated.
But it kinda was. Put it in perspective, when back then KKK was super powerful and had members and sympathizers all over, and those who rejected their racist ideology feared them as they did seem mysterious. They became a laughing stock and even though they still exist, it's like maybe 1/100000 people share their ideology while back then it was, let's say, 1/20.
