Kayak fishing for Speckled Trout during the cold winter months. I will be using artificial lures the whole trip and mainly using The Slick Jr. in the sandlapper, swamp thing, and cool beans colors. I also use the mirrodine 18MR from Mirrolure. I discuss all the gear tips and tricks I use in the creeks fishing during the winter. You don't have any issues using 10 lb braid on baitcaster ? Is it shallow spool reel. I use 20lb and worry about it digging into itself.....
It is possible for that to happen but quite rare. I only fish about 2-3lbs of drag max so it doesn’t really have the pressure to dig in. I notice it when I get hung and have to break off it can dig in slightly. I don’t have any shallow spools all standard. I use Berkley x9 braid now and I’m loving it.
