I don't know why, but I totally adored Carter from the moment I found out you could marry him, regardless of how old he was. I was originally going for Marlin (who I also adore), but I ended up with Carter cause' his passion for archaeology is so damn cute.
Carter is absolutely adorable! I honestly can't comprehend why Harvest Moon fans are attracted to all those androgynous, green bananas. In my humble opinion, Griffin and carter from this game and Bob from Magical Melody are the only real attractive bachelors in the entire franchise.
most people who play it are younger girls, probably teenagers. the "androgynous" bachelors, as you say, look younger and more suitable to them. when I played, I disliked most of the bachelor choices, but I liked Kai so I married him. Carter, Gustafa, and the bar owner guy (I forgot his name lol) all looked like crusty old men to me.

I married Carter back in the day but we got to admit this HM is the funniest and creepiest of all HMs, thanks to these bachelor options. Even Marlin is weird. One of the heart scenes is you carrying a drunk Marlin home!

For the second house upgrade, you just need the first house upgrade. Unless you play the Japanese version, you need the kitchen first.

@mrtingle13 That is the most difficult set you can get. It's called Country Home. You must be a Farm Archduchess, and that at least 100,000 farm degree points.
