    Send that Kodak camera to Chris Sherlock at RetinaRescue.com. he will restore it to new condition. About $150. It's totally worth it to shoot with a fully functional restored camera.

    I have a kodak retina IIa rangefinder folder and I really love it too it's really cool I haven't shot colour with it yet but those old 1950s cameras are great for black and white photography because of those lenses seem to render contrast really nicely maybe slide film will work good to because of the lower contrast and the less saturated colors those lenses give I don't know

    1. I love your video. I recently got mine and have encountered an issues likewise. I hope i can fix it so i can take pictures with my family and my fiance and hopefully in time take pictures of it in my wedding.
    2. To the people who see one of the commenters linking to a repairman, he has retired and does not do camera repairs anymore. HOWEVER, that does not mean you cant repair it. I would highly suggest to find a way to replace parts. He has alot of stuff on his website. Should you encounter issues that are beyond your means to repair, Chris added his friends email, Paul. He is based in Oregon, USA. i hope you all find what youre looking for and wish you guys the best of luck in repairs.
    PS. Chris also links his youtube channel in his website with videos on repairs for guidance

    Video @ 7:56 "I didn't enjoy making it" - 'Dude' your camera needs to be serviced ! - First of all, when the screen 'elements' are sanitized, the screen becomes BRILLIANT !
    Next, when a ROLEX watch hasn't been serviced in over thirty years, it too will become inaccurate and problematic from its original intended function. Finally, EASY on THE ADVANCE LEVER ! - When these have been neglected (service wise), the FORCEFUL and fast advancing of the wind lever damages internal winding Racks. - Remember, these are great 500th of a second Flash Sync German glass Mini-Hasselblads !

    You are very very wrong about it being the first slr. The first was the kine exakta by in 1933

  • @randallstewart175
    @randallstewart175 Před 4 lety +1

    Not only not the world's first SLR, it's not the first SLR of its type. (Leaf shutter, fixed lens 35mm.) A later model with interchangeable lenses ((Very good lenses), is more interesting and useful. Go wild and find a IIIS, the last rangefinder Retina which uses the same lenses as the SLRs. Vrey cool, and pretty good cameras.

    One of the reasons the viewfinder may be a little hard to see through, is the slower 2.8 lens. I imagine if you got the Xenon 50/1.9, it may be a bit brighter!

      Tylor Tiblow try advancing the advance lever on the bottom of the camera
      If you cant advance that means your frame counter has to be reset, next to your frame counter there is a button that you need to hold down, meanwhile there is a button to the right of your viewfinder, push that towards the right while holding down the previously mentioned button on top, your frame counter should advance and unlock the winding lever
      This is a design in the camera, an annoying one but they all do it

    So it is not a Sony nor a Leica but it is a Kodak camera from Germany, and yes it is the Kodak very first SLR in which I have 3 of these models that are the SLR model IV, and one of the Retina Rangefinder and have to tell you that these models that I am very please of the lenses that they are F#!king sharp OK, and I would never never use in what you are describing in fixing it. Also that these models, and the one that you have are very precision models before the IC Inter Circuit chip arrive in the late 1969. I like you You Tube Page as I am bother by other You Tubers that their is one in which he will be nameless (Mac Shoots Film) that his instagram page is just T's and A's No creatively in his shots, as it is Crap, and that all he does is just Blab Blab, and More Blab. Brags about his gear but nothing much of his shots composing, metering, focusing you name it he has not done it. As he kept complaining of the cost of film shooting, and processing, and printing, and then it kept mentioning about scanning that it is joke. I shoot both formats Digital, but more leaning to shooting film again, and also dusting out another digital camera called a Mavica - the Floppy Disk Camera as I will be making photos looking like paintings.. Now that is creative. But back to the Kodak Reflex that I have two of these models the model IV, and love it. And I do not like this video in the way how your talking down of the camera that you have as I have been shooting since 1972, and have been using camera formats from the 110 to the 35mm to 120 right up to the 4x5, and Here is in what I do.. Hey now look at my shots. Two Web sites... film, and digital...
    www.flickr.com/photos/17096869@N04/ and also this sight: www.travellerspoint.com/photos/gallery/users/Alexmmx/
    So in ending I would give a second look in what we Photographers in our way of life. I have a very long list of shooters that I have full respect in the way of shooting a photograph as maybe you might heard of them: Diado Moriyama, Gary Winograd, Henri C Bresson, Richard Averdon, Snapchick, King Jpves as he is the best Street photographer in the SF Bay Area, Art of Photography, Jared Polin( he has on hell of documentary series you should watch it and take notes), and many more. I do not watch Ken Rockwell, or Matt Granger, or Tony, and Chelsea Northrup in which they are assholes Ok Hope that this did not hurt your feelings but if you want to take the field of creating images film or digital, you have company like about oh let's say about half of million that know how to use a camera, and use it WELL. You I am thinking of bringing this my Reflex Model to Japan along with vintage Medium Format cameras too so that is 2 different size format, that is 35mm, and 120 format OK. As I will be using a REAL Light Meter not a iPhone meter, I find that the software for as a meter is OFF but One, and Half a stop Plus or Minus. And it is not to show off, their is a park in Tokyo That I see a lot of Senior Citizens with cameras, and it could be film or it could be digital, but I am more comfortable to be with them than hearing you Bitch. I did not like the ending of this video, I would Never throw one of my cameras like that. So I say to you that You Are No Shooter, and as the saying goes Do Not Give Up You Day Job.- SORRY. So Spanish Right Diego? Well SO AM I... I am Spanish too, born in San Francisco, as I have a Saying" "Born in the Presidio, Raise in the Mission"...

      Alex Carrillo haha this is one hell of a comment! I appreciate your kind words about my channel, I was being sarcastic about this camera being sh*t. It’s honestly one of my all time favorite cameras and yes the lens is amazingly sharp. I wish I had more lenses that were this great
      I tend not to take myself or my photos too seriously as other youtubers tend to do so (I actually won’t name anybody but there are a lot of them).
      I also own a Sony mavica and I do plan on making a video on it sometime in the future.
      I hope you can give me more feedback on my videos, photos, techniques, and on-camera personality as I also hate the Northrups (I named my channel thinking of them)

    • @alexcarrillo5510
      @alexcarrillo5510 Před 4 lety

      Ok that I have seen, and read your comments, and now that being Sarcastic, and being Serious that cannot accept that since when I started shooting back in 1972 that I was 16 when I first pickup a camera, and now I am 64. When before I started taking photos that I seen a commercial of Ansel Adams doing a commercial for Datsun (Nissan), and then ABC had a series called Shirley's World about a Woman Photojournalist breaking into the Press World Illustrated magazine as she went to places with a Nikon camera. Got the Series too, But it is PAL Version so I see it on my MAC in Full Stereo.So I decided to be a shooter, and in going to another high school - Mission High (GO BEARS!)Class of 1974. As that how I got started, and being accepted in doing the usual activities in High School Yearbook, and Newspaper that I decided to be a shooter, so after going to City College, and Art College, and receiving my AA, and BFA degree. That I also started working at a Camera Store for 34 years, and meeting the following Cole, and Brett Weston, Kim Weston, Yousuf Karsh, Arnold Newman, Herman Leonard, Jim Marshall, Christian Voigt, Susan Meiselas, Morley Baer, Fred Lyon, and Ansel Adams at the SF Art Institute for a Summer Session in doing Polaroid Photography Workshop, and in the during that time that I travel the world, and as you seen my work that the only advice that I can give you is this:
      www.amazon.com/Adventure-Photography-Ansel-Adams/dp/B00008DDRE
      Get this DVD. I did as it was the best value to have, and I always take me on my travels to bone up, and when I was in high school that after seeing the series, and then at City College that all I have was 4 photo books, and few photo magazines: The Best of LIFE Magazine, Ansel Adams the Photographer, How to develop B/W film, and Print, and Book of Photography by Swedlund. Now today 2020 I Now have over 1500+ Plus Photography books leading to PhotoEssay, History in Photography in General, and cameras, Nudes, Travel Pictorcal, General Essays. So that is the tip I can give you to get this DVD, It is the best investment as You will need it, and also the last tip that one photographer Edward Steichen once said: "No Photographer Is As Good As The Simplest Camera" Bye.
