Is there a trouble in paradise for our girls?
I love that in this scene they are both still fighting for each other, neither one of them wants the other to give up on something that is important to them, no matter how difficult the situation is for them personally. That's genuine love. They are both still trying to figure out how to emotionally deal with the consequences of what happened, and that is perfectly reasonable.
Janet and Shiva are such great scene partners. The range they bring to the varied emotions the characters go through with all their choices never cease to amaze.
@@freebd99 So true, if you pay close attention, you can see them make very meaningful choices about how they say things and the way they physically respond to the things that are said to them. It's wonderful to watch and probably the main reason I am way too invested in the relationship 😅

@@Sheerworks Just because Lauren isn't at the hospital doesn't mean Leyla has lost her. The way the either of them can truly say they've lost each other is if one dies or one leaves the country permanently. Even then if they wanted to make long distance work it's possible.

Time to fix Lauren and Leyla before the last ep of this season, I’m over Lauren feeling miserable for wanting to keep her girlfriend in town. Yes she should have been honest but she did what she did for the right reasons. Not the reasons Leyla assumed. She did it to get her foot inside the right door. It’s not like she was the first person to help their partner get a job.

Let Lauren makes her own decisions, pressure her when she is already so down is not what she needs. I am actually surprised that Leyla doesn't realize how unwell Lauren is at the moment, or that she has other things going on other than their break-up that are messing up with her brain
Respecrfully, I think Leyla can sense that Lauren is struggling but she doesn't want to cross that emotional boundary becoz it would make things more complicated. In the same way I think Lauren wanted to be more honest with Leyla about how she felt but she felt she couldn't because their situation is difficult and painful right now. They just need time apart to heal and then maybe they can talk things out when the pain isn't so raw.
I think that's why that scene is so beautiful...It's the things that are unsaid that speak volumes about the relationship and where they are emotionally, both as a couple and as individuals.
@@tulzm6594 could totally be! I was mostly surprised because as a person in her profession I would thought that when she have any suspect about it she would change her approach. Not sure if I can make sense, but she would like try to talk differently to her or like don't say the things she actually say like "you need to stay". Taking a path more like the Helen talk if you will. But maybe it has more to do with Leyla character than her perceptions and reactions to this almost burned out Lauren. Probably we will get a better idea in the next episode
@@mellinatre1149 I understand what you're looking for, but I think it would be difficult for them to support each other in that way right now. If they weren't in a relationship maybe Leyla would have been able to talk to Lauren the way that you want. I think it's difficult for Leyla to do what you are saying becoz of their break up. I also think it's better that Lauren had the talk with Helen and not Leyla, it would have been too emotionally confusing for Lauren to have that kind of conversation with Leyla.
The next episodes will be interesting 😁

I guess their issues clouded Leyla because there’s no way she wouldn’t have known that something was off with Lauren. She knows her well enough to know when she’s off, her uneasiness was written all over her face. The way she looked in that room as she saved that patient and how she left the room, it was way more than her not being able to be in the same room as Leyla. And if Leyla had noticed ,she would have made Lauren spill why she was so off and uneasy,the only way she alone knows how to get things out of Lauren,and she would have been the first to tell her to take a break from the hospital.. Leyla who once gave a speech about balance,would definitely not have pushed her to stay in the hospital that was literally driving her insane and threatening her sobriety...
Totally agree, maybe it's wishful thinking in my part, but a part of me thinks that Leyla can sense something is not right/something deeper is happening with Lauren but she just doesn't know what it is...is it her & their situation(Leyla working in the hospital) that's upsetting Lauren or is it something deeper. Right now Leyla is assuming that it's her & their situation(which is why she feels she needs to convince Lauren to stay) But becoz they are in this difficult situation it's difficult for her to go an ask Lauren (which is why she says "us aside"), she's carefully not to cross the emotional boundaries that she's put in place. Even though it's hard I kind of agree that Leyla is not the best person right now to help Lauren navigate this situation, it would be too emotionally confusing.
The sad thing is that I think Lauren really does want to talk to Leyla but again because of their situation she feels she can't and that's creating a lot of stress and anxiety within in her, which is why Helen was the perfect person to talk to.
This is the hard thing about relationships sometimes, things can get so complicated that even though you care about each other deeply the hurt anger and pain can be a barrier to you connecting.
@@tulzm6594 yeah I agree that Leyla probably thinks the uneasiness and weird behavior is because of their r/ship , I mean the last time they spoke she said she was going to quit, so hard for her not to think that it’s all because of their breakup. Yes, I think the heavy heart she has is also because she badly wants to lay her heart bare to the one person she loves most but she can’t. She feels bad enough that not knowing how to deal with her emotions is what made her make that unilateral decision that ruined things.
Also, Lauren is generally hard on herself. The two things that mean the world to her is her job and Leyla. She’s lost one (temporarily,I hope) and the other is slipping through her hands and it’s a lot . Casey is gone, Veronica is breathing fire, she lost her staff during that lay off, then Leyla. Add all of these and it’s perfect recipe for a breakdown and relapse.
Let’s see how it plays out. I just hope these writers don’t go the relapse route...because the character has grown to send her back to the abyss of drugs will just be horrible writing in my opinion.
Yeah defs agree with the above, I don't think we have to worry about a relapse story, even if Lauren relapses (which is part life, people relapse in the face of difficult situations) I think the writers will be smart about it. Lauren probably still needs to hit rock bottom but what that might look like we don't know. I think/hope that the next step for Lauren is counselling, maybe we see her in therapy or we meet her sponsor. I also think maybe we meet other family members like her sister, so we can understand her family dynamic as she works through her trauma. There are a lot of interesting ways to tell the story and a lot of areas in Lauren's life that are unexplored, so I hope that's were the writers choose to go.
I think the thing we need to be prepared for with Lauren is that it will be two steps forward, one step backwards and that's going to be frustrating to watch.
@@tulzm6594 you are right that relapse is more or less a part of life, but I'd rather see her actually hit rock bottom that doesn't involve relapse. A girl can only wish..
Unpacking her family history and trauma and the guilt she still carries about Vanessa is a good way to explore her character more. I just don't trust these writers.. This season has been all over the place with their writing, so for me the bar is in the gutter... Not expecting much, but I will be pleasantly surprised if they do some good writing.
Also, I'm generally not a fan of a character suffering without end just to teach a lesson. I hope the actress that Plays Leyla stays beyond this season. They had something good going, so let's hope they can reunite even if it's just at the end of this season or beginning of next season. But as a side character there's always the possibility of being written off lol
@@xty070 I honestly doubt that they will do a relapse, the last episode suggested that Lauren knows better when she gave the pills to Helen. It would have been easy for her to relapse when she took those pills from Rohan but they didn't allow her, which is why I think whatever the rock bottom story will be it won't be a relaps story.
With the writing, yeah it's not perfect but no show has perfect writting or writting that we want exactly (or at least I am yet to watch a show especially with a queer storyline give me everything I want), so I am willing to give the writers the benefit of doubt for now. I am also just taking into consideration that the show is only 45 mins and they have lead 5 characters with their own storylines that they need to tell so we are never going to see everything we want to see, some of it has to be left to the imagination. I also think we need let the writers tell the whole story, they are only half way through the season so we don't know what the final picture will be, and I understand that some information doesn't make sense now because we haven't seen what they have planned in the furture. I want to try and be open to Lauren's journey because the character itself is beautiful and complex in ways that I personally understand. My main worry is that there is a very strong possibility that at the end of this they will break Leyla and Lauren up as part of Lauren's growth path. I love Shiva Kalaiselvan, I think she is doing a great job of brining so much warmth to the character of Leyla even though she's givem very little screen time (she's grown so much since she started the show), so I hope dearly that they keep her for more seasons, but with this I am keeping my expectations very low.
