The judge has a rifled barrel. Regular shot shells don’t do well in a rifled barrel, because the pellets spin and start flinging out in different directions. There are specialty .410 shells meant specifically for the judge/governor platforms. Just look for Federal .410 “HANDGUN” loads. There’s a special wad they put in the shells that encapsulates the pellets until they leave the barrel, then it pops open and releases the payload. I have a little snubby Taurus Judge Public Defender with a 2 inch barrel. I can get 6-8 inch groupings at 10 yards with 000 Buck Handgun loads. Hornady and Winchester also make specialty handgun .410 loads. Hopefully you’ll see this comment amongst the hundreds of others, and consider making a follow up video with the right ammunition.

Hornaday has a critical defense shell for it too that performs really well.
Yeah those federal rounds make it a legit hand shotgun. Obviously still a 410, but each one does about 16 inches in gel too, so they also hit hard. That means multiple chances to strike an organ every trigger pull with a fairly wide .36 caliber pellet.
@@bmx7596 if we’re talking Federal Handgun 000 buck here. The pellets are about the same diameter as a 9mm. So basically, it’s like unloading 4 rounds (or five, if it’s a 3” shell) from a Glock with one trigger pull. You empty a raging Judge with 3“ shells for example, that’s 30 holes that you just put into your intended target. Plus there’s only a 50FPS difference between those shells and a standard 9mm cartridge… That’s just an absolutely nasty hand cannon!
What a delightfully versatile hand cannon! Can’t say I’ve seen a revolver capable of firing such a wide variety of ammo before, extraordinary find.

yeah having a gun that can use so many types of ammunition would be great for suvival against zombies and stuff.
He’s got a S&W Model 460, those can chamber and fire .460 S&W mag, .454 Casull, .45 Colt, .45 Schofield, and .45 Cowboy Special as they are all actually the same caliber (.451 inch). Might even be able to fire .45 ACP if you use moon clips, but excess headspace could be an issue there.

My father owns a judge as well, used mostly for javelina and rattle snakes on the ranch. Whenever he goes out on the property, its always with him. His is maybe an inch or two shorter, but I know it still handles the 000 buck 410 shot. I believe .44 or .45 as well. Glad to see what it can do in those circumstances, when needed.

You know a gun has incredible power when you shoot a steel target and the spall from the round disintegrating shoots debris almost 10 feet in the air after hitting the ground. That’s some serious energy😳 WOW! Slow mo is amazing, your Dads camera work is first rate 🤟🏻

Scott's consciousness was transferred to a robot a few years ago. Only a robot could have survived the Serbu incident of 2021. They got him almost perfect, but forgot to add a blink reflex when shooting. The T800 series is supposed to fix this flaw as well as adding sweat, bad breath, everything.

That "oh" when you shot the ranch with the less lethal for the first time as it shot straight up had me crying from laughter.
Made me wonder how less lethal it is, like is it "you most probably won't survive, but swift lead poisoning will end you" or is there kinda safe range or is it great for homedefence, meaning it will penetrate perpetrator put if it misses it won't go through a wall in to another room.
@@felixchaus they're made out of rubber, so they're lighter and less likely to penetrate, which is why I was so surprised it did that to the ranch. There are lots of studies on what the best home defense round would be, but I know it's not these.
I've had my Raging Judge for a while and I love it! The first time I fired it with the .454 casull (with both hands), that was my first time using a handgun with a caliber that large and I thought my wrists were just going to fly straight off my arms from the recoil. Awesome videos as always, keep up the great content!

As always, great shooting. The Judge is a beast of a revolver. Amazed (guess I shouldn't be by now) at how the 454 simply disintegrates everything. Nice to see "appropriate dress" for the occasion. Lastly, loved the "I sentence you to non-existence!" line. That should become a classic.

Loved the versatility of that hand cannon.
But I was even more impressed with the camera work. Today's video showed how after each shot you would take your finger off the trigger. That kind of discipline is great to see in someone firing a new gun. Too often Brandon gets content for his Darwin Awards from people who don't understand range safety. This is definitely the most fun channel to watch when researching guns and ammo. I had not heard of the Judge or the Casull ammo until today. In my research of these two, I came upon this video, and it did not disappoint.
There are several Judge models I've seen so far, and I was wondering what the consensus is for these as home defense weapons.

Only place I'd carry something like that is in bear country. For an EDC, I'm sticking with my CW45
Something I've always wondered- since the Raging Judge has a 3-inch cylinder and .460 S&W Magnum is basically just .454 Casull with a longer case... could the Raging Judge also chamber and/or fire .460 S&W Magnum? (The maximum SAAMI pressures for .454 Casull and .460 S&W Magnum are also both the same- 65,000 PSI.)
Obviously, it goes without saying that if you try this, do it from behind the truck, with a string attached to the trigger. One big bore cartridge detonation is one too many. Or better yet, get some .460 S&W Magnum snap caps and see if they'll even chamber. I've heard .460 S&W won't fully chamber/seat in the Raging Judge for some reason, but curious minds want to know!
Taurus has a 460 now, they just need to update the Raging Judge to shoot 460 as well. If Taurus did this, they would be a step ahead of s&w, especially if they cut it for moonclips for 45 acp.

I have family that lives in Colorado, which has everything from rattlesnakes, coyotes, and antelope to mule deer, elk, mountain lions, black bear, and even moose. There's also been talks of re-introducing wolves. Hell, the last brown bear in Colorado was killed in 1979. But the most dangerous criter of all, no matter where you go, is Homo sapien.
I'm a big proponent of packing bear spray when you're in the back-country, but I'm also a proponent of packing a versatile boom-stick that can take down everything from small game to big, toothy critters like a T-Rex. 😂 So I typically pack a 12-gauge 870 shotgun when I'm innawoods. But it's bulky. :\ Now, .454 Casull is a pretty hot cartridge that can and has taken down brown bears, but if I can get something that's bigger, stronger, faster, like .460 S&W Magnum... I mean, why not?
@@iamian9028 I wish I could justify the purchase like that, but I live in central Ohio which I think has the tamest wildlife on the entire planet. No bears, no mountain lions, no wolves, rarely coyotes, no poisonous snakes. Heck, when I was a kid I pet a wasp on a dare and didn't get stung. You can't even get within arm's reach a nest without being attacked if you go 100 miles from here in any direction. This place is weird.
All that being said, I still want it because reasons. You never know when the world might be invaded by an alien covenant consisting of everything from huge yeti-like warrior species down to quasi-intelligent tubeworms.

This gun is awesome. Multiple, cartridge selections to shoot from. Very impressed with the recoil for follow up shots with the .454 casull 👍👍
It's honestly not that bad. My buddy has one and warned me and warned me before I fired it, and honestly it wasn't much worse than a .44 Magnum, not as bad as a S&W .500 mag.

Again, it's impressive how well you can shoot big bore revolvers one handed like they're nothing. The recoil after more than a few shots gets me flinching bad.

I was just rewatching this video when I had a great idea! Put a furbee on top of a large water jug and shoot it with Fury to see how high you can launch a furbee into the air! You could start with smaller guns and work your way up. I also want to see fury mounted on an Argus, that would be insane, but it would make transportation easier! Do it right and you would never need to use that stand for it again! Just drive it up to where you want it and park it. Fury is pretty heavy though, so you might need to add something to add more buoyancy to the Argus.

First handgun I bought with my own money. I had my parents purchase it for me at age 17 almost ten years ago. You can modify the moon clips from a governor to shoot .45acp. (which I've done) it's also possible to modify the cylinder to shoot .460 which I haven't done and do not recommend. I call my blued judge "The Samaritan" after the large revolver from the movie "Hellboy". Which inspired me to buy this hand cannon in the first place. It's fun, even the .454 doesn't kick too bad cuz it's so heavy
I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.... lol

Idea: is there such a thing as a “TOO HOT” pistol round?
I. A word, yes.
Have a friend who got into hand loading, and picked up his GP100. Rather than get a .44 Magnum, he then decided, it's tough, load it hotter.
He split the frame, absent the 6 inch barrel about 80 feet, took the hammer and rear sight to the face. Also lost the use of his trigger finger, and lost his thumb.
Everything has a breaking point.
