      Mine has a lot of slack and it causes some weird handling issues, especially in deeper powder. The sled will sometimes start bouncing from one ski to the other as it tries to self-steer. This can get scary, almost like a slow motion tank-slapper on a motorcycle.

    Thanks for posting this walkthrough. I just pulled the front of the sled off tonight to change the oil filter. Don't know if it was ever changed so I did it for piece of mind. I also ordered the steering kit from UP Bushman and will be putting that on while I got it apart. If I didn't have your video I would have sent it to the dealer. Thanks for saving me some bucks.

    FYI, Yamaha now has a fix for the steering slack. The Yamaha kit has sealed bearings to replace the bushings.

    UP Bushman doesn’t sell the kits anymore. I got mine from Schmidt Bros Motorsports. Their kit looks the same and works well.

    Hey Milo Farms,, not sure if all sway bar’s are the same? I have a 2007 Phazer GT.
    This adjust was a fantastic change when coming out of turns at a higher speed.

    You should do a video on an oil change on this sled. Also chain case replacement too

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 3 lety +1

      I just did the oil change but did not video it. My goal is to video it next summer and post it. When the sled is apart like in this video, and you have access to the oil filter, all that is left is drain the oil pan and refill with oil when done.

    I put the tie rod ends off a yfz450r. They fit perfectly on the phazers and are way haveier duty. I also put one on the upper one thats under the air box. They are very tight and actally hold grease.
    Next best mod is the UPbushman spindle bushings for the skis. This is good for the mountain lights not being used in the mountains because they can be put on the wide stance.
    After that for not so much mountain riding and more trail riding I put the 19 tooth gear in the chain case instead of the 21. And the heaviest rivets are 13 grams (black). Keeps it in the power range when you punch it from a stop (11,300rpm) instead of bouncing off rev limiter all the time and loosing power because timing is pulled.
    Finally I put the stiff springs on the back from an rtx because I ride it hard on rough trails and I like to jump it a bit. I am 180lbs in regular clothes.

      Thanks for the comment. Was thinking of doing the spindle bushings eventually as well. These are not too bad yet. Hoping first of December to get them out and work any other bugs out of them and have some Idaho snowmobile videos to post.

    On the left side of the sled, right under the plugged hole I'm assuming is for a 12v adapter, there is a white unused plug end with two little pieces of rubber in the ends. It is right near the rectifier. Do you know what this unused plug is for?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 3 lety

      It is for the 12 volt power point. If you look at my spark plug video: czcams.com/video/pUC0nveMbp4/video.html at 5 minutes 15 seconds you can see it. The accessory power adaptor is: www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemcatalogs/p/yamaha_snowmobile_2007_phazer_mtx/yamaha_snowmobile_accessories-electrical/5632c40487a866079834c5c6/dc-outlet-kit Yamaha part # 8ET-W8192-00-KT

    The beauty of your video is you show everything, some video on mtx 07 up they just say oil changes are 1/2 day, so wrong, what oil do you like to use and how many miles in between changes u figure?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 3 lety +1

      I change the engine oil and chain lube yearly every summer I probably drive them 1,500-2,000 miles a year. I use Polaris SCL for chain as I can get it easy and its synthetic. Makes reverse shift easier. For the engine I use Mobil 1 0w-30 from Walmart. I have heard differing opinions on using this oil but I have never had an issue. Yamaha recommends changing the filter every 12,000 miles but sooner probably would not hurt.

    • @randylee2549
      @randylee2549 Před 3 lety

      @@MiloFarms ahh thanks for the recommendations on the oil and chain lube, yes I used SCL Polaris on a Ski Doo in 2010 on, on a Summit, seems like good stuff! So if you had the opportunity today, in 2020/2021 do you think the MTX's are good value and long term durability? Clutch Maintenance? And secondary?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 3 lety

      @@randylee2549 I cant speak for anything new but the 2007 and 2008 Phazer Mtn lites/MTX sleds are great. If you can find one that was not terribly abused and fix it up it will last a long time. As far as clutches all I have done on mine is cleaning and installed new belts when I got them. I also correctly shimmed secondary that was never correct from the dealership

    Feeling a little sick to my stomach looking at all the steps and parts that have to be removed. This may be out of my league to repair.
