I agree with your points about COD and Valorant being mostly just about shooting accuracy but Fortnite has the aspect of building so I don’t agree that it only is about shooting. Although as someone with over 500 hours in both, Rocket League is definitely way more difficult
The fact that so many people are nerds on fortnite proves it’s easier to get good at. it took me so long to get consintent an mechanical an there’s still so many different things that so hard to learn
I'd put it at 3rd, with 2nd being StarCraft, and #1 being Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's 20 years old and the meta is skyrocketing in realized potential year over year. There are numerous frame-perfect inputs for tech that's just part of moving around. Unlike other fighting games, Melee uses analogue inputs, meaning 360 degrees with differing magnitudes that must be precisely performed while also reacting to your opponent's inputs. Decision making is usually lightning fast, do-or-die, and constant. For every tech there is to learn about offensive or defensive mechanics, there's another way to implement or mitigate it with mind games. I would say that at the highest levels, mastering Melee is nearly mastering the entirety of Rocket League multiple times over for every matchup. That said...Both are absolutely sick. Great video.
I absolutely love super smash bros and I know how hard it is to play the game. Maybe I don’t realize it because of how many more hours I put into smash before and how many hours I put it now. Great point and thank you❤️
Good point but hard disagree, first of all no one has mastered rocket league once so to claim mastering melee is like mastering RL many times over is quite the over statement. The frame perfect inputs you're talking about have to be done in every frame in rocket league up to the point you are accomplishing the goal of whatever mechanic you're going for. Take a flip reset for example, you not only have to catch and set the ball up on the wall, but hit it at the same time, fly towards it while controlling the X Y and Z axis, time your hit with the moment it begins descent, make sure no one is challenging you, and if they are come up with a counter strategy for your flip and then time that frame perfect to make sure the ball gets past defenders and goes in the goal. I've played a lot of smash in my day, not claiming to be an expert but I've never seen anything close to the same skill cap. I agree StarCrafts skill ceiling is large but it's not rocket league
@The Hybrid - Valid points, but the difference between Melee and RL is the pace at which those decisions are being made. Yes, in RL you need to line up a whole lot of small factors that lead into one big result, but once that setup is started, or the 50 is hit, or the goal is shot, the next logical decision is usually to rotate back post, maybe grabbing boost or a demo on the way, or push forward again if your teammates say it's a good idea to cut rotation. You make a decision, then you have time to set up the next decision, or at least usually find a few moments to mentally recoup if needed. In 2s and 3s it's your teammates taking their turn on approach; in 1s it's the dead space while your opponent makes their approach, or while the ball is hit high, or whatever. You come to learn these things like a slow boil by trying, failing, remembering how it went, then readjusting slightly, but the end goal is always the same-get ball in goal, or defend goal, with details. In Melee, you have this amount of decision making and execution happening probably three times over, which is what led to my comment about mastery. Of course no one has "mastered" either game, but I am speaking of the current highest level of play, which is reasonable to use as a measurement here. I think RL MIGHT catch up, but Melee had a 15 year head start, and it shows. You could go in circles trying to argue that RL is at most equal to Melee, but it is not more difficult.
@@Pslamist I'd still probably have to disagree, valid points though. Although rotation and game sense aren't the mechanics I was speaking about. The point I was attempting to make is the insane amount of precision required. Sure rotation and game sense are important aspects of the of the mechanics in winning games and that's why one with low mechanical ability can make it to high ranks. But to really master car control, spatial awareness, ball prediction, boost management, enemy positioning, teammate positioning, while doing it in fractions of seconds to make the best play possible is an entirely different thing from rotation. I guess with these types of things it really comes down to individual perception of what constitutes difficult
Everyone else is agreeing so i'll be the bad guy. I disagree, I think you severely underestimate the mechanics a game like fortnite with building needs. The reason everyone quit was because it became too hard. It absolutely wasn't as simple as just build and shoot, it was situational and very precise. I can make rocket league sound simple by describing it as a game where you hit a ball in a net. That's all it is, not hard at all. You also used call of duty and valorant as your other examples, those are poor choices to help prove your point. You need to compare rocket league to other high intensity mechanical games, We're talking league of legends, Dota 2, Osu (yes osu, i'm very serious), Fall Guys (ok this one's a joke). The amount of raw knowledge a pro league player needs is miles ahead of RL. We're talking knowing your own champion, knowing every other champion in the game and their interactions with not just your own champion but your entire team's champions, knowing every item in the game and the best combinations and interactions between them, knowing the entire map, it's mobs and every mobs spawn timing. I can go on forever with what these pros need to know, and that's compounded with being EXCEEDINGLY Mechanical with controlling your own movement and dodges, the movement of minions you may have control of, the abilities you need to use, the items you need to use, all these things used precise to the degree of a fraction of a fraction of a second. RL is an insanely mechanical game sure, but i don't think it's THE MOST mechanical game. Let's just enjoy it for what it is, flying car football.
Cod isn’t mechanical at all, I can take a year off that game and then play just as good as I ever did. Rocket league is like swimming, you take a couple days off and you lose that feel of your mechanics, but your game sense still remains
what makes this game harder than other games like valo is in valo you have a gun in your hand and a button to shoot in rocket league you have a car and a ball and need to get the ball to you control it and you dont have a button to just shoot you need to do it all by yourself and that means there is so much room for new things and no visible "best" but in valo there is a visible celling and that is you hit every shot and master your abilitys
I'm GC1 and I still feel like I suck at this game lol. I'm not sure how long this game will last though, because the odd thing about this game. There's really no reason to make a 2nd one like there is other games. New maps and such don't really change the game. Unless they change the actual mechanics of the game, you would be risking alot of backlash.
@@Broodjewakanda isnt that normal? I mean sure if you are in a GC lobby it seems they are all better at those mechanics than you but they think the same about you 😛 Dont forget you seee 100% of your games but only 0.00000001% of your opponents games and just because they hit that beautiful ceiling shot or made some nice airdribble against you does not make them consistent in the next 10 games they will not hit those shots again or air dribble as smoothly as they did against you. While you just did a nice air dribble giving your new opponents the impression you are far more consistent than they are in Air dribbles and ceilingshots. I am GC and I am not consistent in any Mechanic and anyone that says otherwise is either lying or delusional. I can say I am pretty solid with some mechanics but consistent is a whole different story. I can shoot on target out of almost any position yet I still manage to miss and open goal on a fast break without any contest and this happens more often than it should but that is just lack of consistancy, one little wrong nip and the ball is a bit too fast and you cant catch up anymore before it hits the back wall, open net is missed and consistency dies right with this fail.
not to invalidate your point about iq but I'm gc2 and I'm kinda retarded. I'm kidding but I do play with like no sleep and I can't focus or remember what happened 10 seconds ago yet I can maintain gc2. I rely heavily on mechanics/muscle memory. Also great video, I look forward to see what comes next!

*Tbh fighting games are very difficult, it's more or less mechanical, but requires an insane amount of brainpower. Even though, Rocket League is easily the greatest competitive video game ever created.*
Another thing that makes rocket league so different is that you can control all aspects of what you do. Not many other games can say that. An example is how in shooters you aren't controlling how they walk, you only control the speed, direction and some other movement like crouching or sliding. Many of these games have animations for those things like moving forward or to the side, you aren't thinking how your legs are moving. Whereas, in rocket league, you are in control of what you and your car does.
I definitely played cod longer than I’ve played Rocketleague, I agree rocket league is 100 times harder then any other game I’ve ever played, that’s why so many people quit this game because they’re not good at it and they don’t like that
I've always been good at soccer and basketball growing up, pretty good at video games, and have good game iq in sports and video games. This is proof mechanics travel and mechanics stay, same for game iq, regardless of place, sport is a sport, it all translates, and this game does the best representation of it. You can be good at this game without practicing by translating your success from sports. No other game can take raw mechanics and iq from the real world and translate it into a video game. It all can be learned but RL is pure in mechanics and can't be cheated, so it feels hard for outside new gamers. It plays more like a sport than a video game and mechanics are a direct correlation shared between sports and RL. RL pros are sometimes referred as E-athletes. It's raw mechanics and game iq, and I love it because of it. Best sports video game of all time 🐐🖤
This is a very well made video and it was very interesting to watch, honestly I feel like this video should get way more views than it got by the time I watched it and I don't know about your other videos but this as I said was very interesting one to watch and it was very enjoyable with actually pretty interesting topic and I've played 3 games that was mentioned in this video and I can agree with everything you said in Fortnite you can master building in less than 2 months if you play daily, in Valorant you can kinda master utility usage of your main agent in 3-4 months but for perfecting you need probably over a year, and the Aiming part in both of these games comes naturally by playing, but I've been playing Rocket League for 1,5 years and still just managed to reach champ 1 and I'm pretty good in freestyling for my rank and have so much left to learn but yeah the video was great and keep up the content (and sorry for my mistakes in English if there was any)
1,5 Years to champ 1 is actually pretty standard and the funny thing is after 1,5 and champ1 you are just now starting to actaully get a grasp of the game, before that you thought you are getting it but you were still in your "learning to walk" stage. Tell a Plat or a low Dia after one year that he is still at the beginning of the game and just now barely outside of the noob spectrum, he wont belive you but tell that same person 1 to 2 years later the same thing when he is gc and higher and he will agree with you 100%. Sry to all Ranks below at least D3 but that is the god honest truth you have no real clue of the game yet and you are just scratching the tip of the iceberg.
I say it all the time. Rocket League is the closest video game to be called an actual sport and I think many of you guys who played any sport like I did will agree. Like in real life sport, you can always be better if you put in the work, pain and struggles. Just like Messi, McDavid, Kobe etc.. I've started to play last summer and it got me hooked ever since. The only small think that need to improve in the game is the lagging issue (when you see or don't see someone hit the ball and nothing happens or the opposite), but that will be fixed when they go to Unreal Engine 5 hopefully, since they most likely will do a complete overhaul of the game physics and server-side rendering. Great video BTW! :)
I have been playing since 2017 and I cannot recall Lag issues. Not saying I never had any but it is so rare in 6 Years that its not even worth mentioning. Most lag I experienced was when 1. Wrong monitor fps/Hz settings. 2. Bad internet 3. Wrong game search region which are all YOU problems, I can say that I may find a bad server maybe every 100 games, but maybe I am in a good region who knows?
@@reinerhoch1357 didn't mean lag as an direct networking issue. It the problem when client side of the game calculates hit on a ball but server does not and the ball basically rollbacks a few miliseconds. Not networking issue but issue of the game. This rollback most of the time is seen by all players in the game except the person who was hitting the ball. You've deffinetly seen this if you play since 2017
@@patrikdunker5681 You are talking about ghost hits which give a wrong impression on your display but the calculation is correct. Ghost hits happen more frequently thats true but they do not serioulsy effect the game. If that is not what your talking about then I am confused, like I said I have had lag where the ball warps around but that is very occassional and not so often that its worth mentioning. In that case I just ff and go on to the next game
I mostly agree with the statements in this video but few stuck out, like when you said rocket league is always changing and that it requires IQ, yeah rocket league meta may change every season, but its always the same, also the statement with IQ depends on the gamemode (1v1s reference) Also, jstn was the most mechanical at one time but that was long time ago, and he is nowhere close to being most mechanical player right now. I feel like theres no pro who has best mechanics, cuz yeah ayyjay may be best at flip resets, what about flicks or ceiling shots? But overall i really agree with your statements and this video was enjoyable to watch and ill be sure to watch others like this
Some say best mechs player is the one which can do impressive mechanics and be super consistent at doing them like Zen at least that's appjack's opinion.
While I understand you were trying to make an analogy between RL and other games with high skill ceilings - saying that cod, valorant and fortnite only require aiming is just not factually accurate. Movement, timings and mind games are massive things in all 3 of those games. A game like valorant also requires you to use your agents abilities while working with teammates if you want to get good.
@@patrikdunker5681 i think RL has the highest skill ceiling of any game as well. I just didnt agree with the blanket statement that FPS games require aiming as the only mechanic.
What you said for cod and valorant is pretty much true but fortnite is pretty much the same as rl as in terms of the skill ceileing and the mechanics, and both games will never die
Maybe I sound old, but the most mechanical game out there is GunZ Online (for me). It possibly is harder than all those 4 games combined :) I do play RL right now, yes it's hard, but the learn curve was stronger in GunZ Online. For the ones who are curious, try to search a tutorial for specific moves. Anyways, you made a nice edit over here!

Good video I agree with most of what you said the only game I can think of with a skill ceiling and mechanics to master that even compares is osu! That game is ridiculously hard and pro level players are still improving every year
only thing i can think of that even comes close to rl in mechs is fortnite build but even that doesnt have crap on rl bc 70-80 percent of a fortnite match is rng and some outplaying rl is outplay your opponent or lose there and then simply put
I think you bring up a lot of good points, but some of the explanations are hard to understand for non-rocket league players and when the points are brought up you could have brought a friend on who players a shooting style game and have more comparison instead of just winging it. But great video I think you can grow to be a big CZcamsr
I grew up with shooter games and I think u have to be more intelligent in rl than in a shooter game. Today more than in the past cause shooters are like, camping in a corner and press the trigger. Iam 40 now and I never played a multiplayer game longer than a year before. And u can still win with an idiot in a shooter game even if your team is half full of it. But in 2s if u got an ...... no I try to say it friendly, beginner or carried by a friend or ball chaser, u r most of the time lost. And this game becomes more fun after every month cause u see improvements, better shots, u can finally hit a ball in the air, finally your ball is flying in the direction u want, wow I can keep the ball 3 seconds on my car and so on. Thank of sbmm in shooter, u cabt see improvements anymore. U r fighting against a mirror of.your self and every match feels the same. No big surprises but in rocket league there is always a touch or a great teamplay or an insane lucky shot who makes you saying wow wow wow
great video, but I know a harder game... "Geometery dash" ... but I'm on about the top demon levels. also in geometery dash you can also keep on getting better no matter how good you already are, and your not trying to be better agansed other players, your mostly trying to be better than yourself
I literally had an argument with someone that said RL is easy or not en when they only played for 30 minutes a few years ago.. Btw.. Fornite is MUCH more mechanical than you think.. you don't just learn building in a week, it takes A LOT of fk practice.. Both Fortnite AND RL are the most mechanical games in the world.
X, go watch Flakes' Road to SSL with no mechanics series! I apply what I learned from it in every game I play, going from gold to diamond with time and better application. Enjoy your journey!
Rocket League is 2nd hardest mechanical game for me. Hardest is Apex Legends. U need pixel perfect inputs to outplay and opponent in that game. Great video btw
Ive played csgo semi pro, fortnite semi pro, valorant casual imortal, rocket league casual peak gc1 and league of legends peak plat and at some stage or another i try harded all of these and i can easily say that league of legends is by far the hardest and rocket league is the easiest with 500 hours i hit gc1. maybe thats just in my experience but i will say i think rocket league is one of the hardest to master
i think the idea of the video was good, but this feels like your initial storm of ideas you had to make this video. if you only perfected the idea and you write it better and also gave examples of the things you said this video would be very good. i agree on the premise but i also think its executed poorly. great idea tho.

Holy this Video is so well made, i was expecting to see atleast 50k subs
Thank you man🥺🥺
just found ur channel man this is good dayum loved it
Appreciate you man💙
Everyone else is agreeing so i'll be the bad guy.
0:53 I can't be the only person who replied "THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE!"
I really hope you weren’t the only person🤔🤔
@@NassyDaClassy Yea because... that would be cringe bruh
Cod isn’t mechanical at all, I can take a year off that game and then play just as good as I ever did. Rocket league is like swimming, you take a couple days off and you lose that feel of your mechanics, but your game sense still remains
i was so shocked of how the edit was so good i dindn't even pay attention to what he was saying
what makes this game harder than other games like valo is in valo you have a gun in your hand and a button to shoot in rocket league you have a car and a ball and need to get the ball to you control it and you dont have a button to just shoot you need to do it all by yourself and that means there is so much room for new things and no visible "best" but in valo there is a visible celling and that is you hit every shot and master your abilitys
EXACTLY!
Fr im gc and cant even consistantly airdribble or ceiling shot
@@Broodjewakanda I get that, I think like 70% of my wins are me just being faster than my opponent lol

Rocket League is the closest video game I’ve ever seen to an actual sport.
If you want to get good, you have to buckle down and practice.

*Tbh fighting games are very difficult, it's more or less mechanical, but requires an insane amount of brainpower. Even though, Rocket League is easily the greatest competitive video game ever created.*
The only game that comes close but not really is apex legends the movement you can do in that game is crazy.
Sadly I’ve never played before🥲🥲
@@NassyDaClassy This video is insanely well put together bro I hope you get all the success you want on this platform.
My man I appreciate you❤️
Another thing that makes rocket league so different is that you can control all aspects of what you do. Not many other games can say that. An example is how in shooters you aren't controlling how they walk, you only control the speed, direction and some other movement like crouching or sliding. Many of these games have animations for those things like moving forward or to the side, you aren't thinking how your legs are moving. Whereas, in rocket league, you are in control of what you and your car does.

tons of games have an unreachable skill ceiling lol
Best sports video game of all time 🐐🖤
This is a very well made video and it was very interesting to watch, honestly I feel like this video should get way more views than it got by the time I watched it and I don't know about your other videos but this as I said was very interesting one to watch and it was very enjoyable with actually pretty interesting topic and I've played 3 games that was mentioned in this video and I can agree with everything you said in Fortnite you can master building in less than 2 months if you play daily, in Valorant you can kinda master utility usage of your main agent in 3-4 months but for perfecting you need probably over a year, and the Aiming part in both of these games comes naturally by playing, but I've been playing Rocket League for 1,5 years and still just managed to reach champ 1 and I'm pretty good in freestyling for my rank and have so much left to learn but yeah the video was great and keep up the content
(and sorry for my mistakes in English if there was any)
Thank you man🥺
1,5 Years to champ 1 is actually pretty standard and the funny thing is after 1,5 and champ1 you are just now starting to actaully get a grasp of the game, before that you thought you are getting it but you were still in your "learning to walk" stage.
Being a rocket league CZcamsr I can confirm that it is a VERY hard game
ISNT IT???
Very quick reply… wow XD

100% agree and thank you🥺
I have been playing since 2017 and I cannot recall Lag issues. Not saying I never had any but it is so rare in 6 Years that its not even worth mentioning. Most lag I experienced was when
1. Wrong monitor fps/Hz settings.
2. Bad internet
3. Wrong game search region
which are all YOU problems, I can say that I may find a bad server maybe every 100 games, but maybe I am in a good region who knows?
In that case I just ff and go on to the next game
arsenal still in ssg I think but ayyjay is now in optic with retals and majicbear
but good vid
Thank u man🥺🥺
I mostly agree with the statements in this video but few stuck out, like when you said rocket league is always changing and that it requires IQ, yeah rocket league meta may change every season, but its always the same, also the statement with IQ depends on the gamemode (1v1s reference) Also, jstn was the most mechanical at one time but that was long time ago, and he is nowhere close to being most mechanical player right now. I feel like theres no pro who has best mechanics, cuz yeah ayyjay may be best at flip resets, what about flicks or ceiling shots? But overall i really agree with your statements and this video was enjoyable to watch and ill be sure to watch others like this
I see what your saying🤔 my man thank you❤️

No one in rl history is ever gonna reach the skill ceiling
While I understand you were trying to make an analogy between RL and other games with high skill ceilings - saying that cod, valorant and fortnite only require aiming is just not factually accurate. Movement, timings and mind games are massive things in all 3 of those games. A game like valorant also requires you to use your agents abilities while working with teammates if you want to get good.
Yeah I agree, but skill wise I still believe that RL, is superior in pro gaming scene. But I get not everyone will agree and that is fine :)
@@patrikdunker5681 i think RL has the highest skill ceiling of any game as well. I just didnt agree with the blanket statement that FPS games require aiming as the only mechanic.
@@nuggnugg8464 yep, got your point :) 👍
What you said for cod and valorant is pretty much true but fortnite is pretty much the same as rl as in terms of the skill ceileing and the mechanics, and both games will never die

only thing i can think of that even comes close to rl in mechs is fortnite build but even that doesnt have crap on rl bc 70-80 percent of a fortnite match is rng and some outplaying rl is outplay your opponent or lose there and then simply put
coming from someone who recently switched bc i was sick of fortnites inconsistencys like getting one shot from halfway across the map
100# Respect and agree with what you said!
I think you bring up a lot of good points, but some of the explanations are hard to understand for non-rocket league players and when the points are brought up you could have brought a friend on who players a shooting style game and have more comparison instead of just winging it. But great video I think you can grow to be a big CZcamsr
this clip is really old, and does not reflect on the skill of pro players right now. 5:52
I see what your saying🤔 I’ll keep this in mind
As a former champions league player in Fortnite rocket league is harder
😈😈
Now I dont have to keep explaining everyone and can just show this video !
