Biblical fidelity and the compassion of Jesus Christ ought and must be the 'sine qua non' of the SDA Church to the UK LGBT+

    My dear Pastor, my son,
I am inspired bh hos you dres a fine line between welcoming those of of LGBT + persuasion into the fellowship of the SDA church and the biblical stance on this matter.
We must always put God's word foremost above conventional mores.
For me and for many ofvyour listeners,
I know that we havd come away with a more settled opinion of his to handle the LGBT+ question.
Thank you and God bless you.

Dear Brighton - this is the first step in the church dealing with this issue - thank you.
Love mercy, seek justice and walk humbly with God!

Absolutely Uncle Llew Micah 6:8 is pivotal. The character of Jesus leaves us no choice but to love the unloveable!

A needed presentation on a sensitive issue. A few observations, not exhaustive…
    1. If I understand correctly the World Church Executive Statements you used, the church recognises/acknowledges the LQBT+ person’s sexuality preference as valid. And it’s sexual practice (whether within or outside marriage) which is sinful. For example, if unmarried heterosexuals greet each other with a kiss without any sexual intent (hard to prove) that normally would not be considered an infraction. Similarly, from the Church statement, the same action by LGBTQ+ persons should be considered the same.
    2. Following that logic, a non-practicing LQBTQ+ person who believes Jesus is Saviour can be baptised and fully serve in any nominated post.
    3. The tension between Biblical fidelity and societal values becomes more pronounced where aspects of the Bible may be interpreted as ‘hate’ speech, intolerant and discriminatory.
    4. Equalities Act 2010 operates on the book ‘Animal Farm’ principle “All animals are created equal….but some animals are more equal than others!”.

A Myriad Thanks Elder JH for the very apt observations. In a nutshell, all the areas you have raised ought to be addressed by the SDA Church Leadership at all levels of our organisation (Union, Missions, Conferences, Church Congregations) This must no longer be seen as a TABOO SUBJECT. Pastor Llewellyn Edwards, Retired Pastor and Conference Administrator also responded to the same presentation 'Dear Brighton - this is the first step in the church dealing with this issue - thank you.' I fully concur with his summation which demands a collective responsibility. Shortly, I intend to raise this matter with our Higher Organisation to take it into consideration. I intend to keep you posted and hope you can be invited to be part of a lead study group particularly at this time the members in our pews need concrete answers. The observations you have made and my response is so vital and pertinent, that I intend to post them also on my youtube comments column so that they are accessible. God Bless You.
