  • In this video we explain how to remove the core of a Presta valve.
    The valve core does not come out completely. It can only be pushed back into the inside of the tire/tube.
    After removing the tube from the rim, we use pliers to remove the nut from the top of the valve core. Now make sure the core is still completely straight. Otherwise it may be difficult to push the valve core into the tube and also to get it back out later on.

    This tube does not have a removable core... Removable cores can be easily unscrewed with a cheap tool.

      Yup I just explained the difference between them. Kudos for correcting this.

    Can you inflate the tube without removing it?

    first check to see if you have a removable core. Typically those have a flat side on the nut holding the core in. These pull right out and can be replaced. If not replaceable a new tube is the real answer

      No wonder, I’m like “why tf is this shit not coming out!!!”
      I didn’t know they made two types 😆
      I thought I was going crazy for a minute there 👍🏽
      Stupid presta valves!

    wow this is mindblowing.. OK I see there’s absolutely no way for me to push and return that needle thing on a tubular tire. wanted to put some sealant in but thats not an option now :|

    The video failed to say if the presta tube has removable or non removable valve core. So, try to check first if it's removable or not. The smaller diameter thread for the valve cap is actually part of the core that you can turn to remove it in removal core presta.

    Presta is a POS. Schrader is a way to go. Every time I have a problem with Presta I replace it with a tube with Schrader. No more problems.

      I have a tubeless setup with presta valves. I haven’t had to refill it with sealant since May 2022. Tubes suck. I have a 29er mtb. With think tubes, I’d get a flat every ride. No problems with tubeless at all. I just pull out the thorns or they fall off themselves . I keep riding. Simple as that.

    Do you have to push the core all the way down like that to put slime in or can you just take the top off?

    • @andrewk.5509
      @andrewk.5509 Před 8 měsíci +2

      if you just take the top off the slime will push the core in and you won't be able to find it

    Why in the world would you want to remove a core that you can’t remove? I agree with another comment to just replace presto with schrader.

  • @malnurishedmacupial
    @malnurishedmacupial Před 6 měsíci +1

    Or you can even not touch the valve at all as it’s not meant to be removed and you’re just risking damaging it. Instead make a hole or puncture site and use a syringe without a needle and inject the slime into made hole or puncture site then I’d suggest using a puncture kit for that hole as might be a bit big and there is another solution. None of them are perfect mind 🤣

  • @malnurishedmacupial
    @malnurishedmacupial Před 6 měsíci +1

    Another way to make sure you don’t lose it is to make a small hole back of the tube. That way you can literally take the metal out. Fill with slime then poke the metal back through into its original place then put a puncture repair on the hole made. Or save all the nonsense and just buy 2 tubes with slime there only about £17 pound for a set.

  • @arc9812

    At this point buy a new tube or go tubeless
