what happens in cases where a claimant has no evidence of a direct threat or injury to them, simply because they have had to be secretive about themselves all their lives due to systematic national laws (for example, anti-LGBT laws)?

Can hiv patient lgbt asylum seeker files for asylum. I have a black mail case. I was set up and beaten with enough sustained injuries. I still pay the blackmailer money to release me

Any case can be filed it really depends on the details of the case, the type of evidence and the testimony. Personal threat needs to be demonstrated, proof that state protection is not available and no option for an internal flight alternative.
