Jay's body was found in an unaccessible ravine about 20 minutes walk from his last GPS location by mountain rescue specialists with the Civil Guard, 29 days after his disappearance. Now, in the aftermath, the media and the public have many questions. everyone who is leaving comments and speculating about how and why Jay Slater fell off the ravine and why he walked that way seems to be forgetting that he would have been very dehydrated and weak by this point and possibly was just walking and walking not knowing where he was or where he was going - not to mention if he had taken anything at the festival he went to that would still be in his system very probably adding to his disorientation and confusion. R.I.P .

Would you make that walk while feeling like that? I don’t think many people would. Too many unanswered questions and conflicting stories for this to actually be how they’re trying to portray it. Maybe he did wander off and fall but it doesn’t answer why he went there and the inconsistencies with everyone if that’s the case.
I have fallen down a ravine and survived, will never do it again, would not go any where near this area for love nor or money. Real shame for Jay. Misadventure.

I can confirm that my spaniel can find the treat cupboard at any moment, any time of day. If we put our treat cupboard in the bottom of Masca Gorge, he would find it.

If you're on the trail, let's say he *was* heading for the beach for whatever reason, can you still see the sea from the trail? Did he climb up a bit to gauge how far he had to go? Then he slipped and fell?

The Dutch search team is highly qualified, asked /helped all over the world for searching in the most difficult areas. I believe you love uour dogs and that you know a lot about dogs..but you can not compare your knowledge with a team of experts that are training dogs ,have enormous experience in all kind of searching operations..reading about ..and having pets can't be compared with researching/experiencing/studying .

I can imagine if Jay was dehydrated, perhaps hung over and beginning to suffer heat stroke that he could easily lose his footing and could even have fainted and fallen to his death, or near death.. He may have lain there for some time unconscious, or partially conscious but unable to move or call out. Poor guy, I hope it was instant and he didn't suffer,

Thank you Michelle, this was so helpful. It makes sense to me he fell into the ravine, we will probably never know what he was thinking. Jay was dehydrated, possibly still intoxicated his judgement would have been poor.
I bet he hadn't slept much in days. He was a strong, fit 19-year-old. That is why he got as far as he did. Plus, let's not forget he was a bricklayer. Those guys are strong!

What bugs me is that by 8am on a monday morning , would there not be people at the Miradoor . Either working, visiting or meeting up for hikes ?
And there was also another bus stop there.
Yet, there is no witnesses of him and he made no attempt to go and charge his phone or get the bus...
At that point , to make the decision to choose the wilderness for hours over waiting for a bus seems illogical and way more effort.
To not wait for the bus, he must have really thought he would be in danger to wait...

If that track is a known track by hikers and a bit cumbersome but not impossible to negotiate, why wasn't Jay found sooner? This is the bit a don't understand and I find puzzling.

@@TrottieTrue-iw7pv Sorry it doesn't answer your question, When I watched videos of the area I can understand why it took nearly a month to find his body , the dogs could not access the area to find his body and humans did no,t until he was found and it was the last place searched before he was found, Christopher from Tenerife was filming his team ended up knowing J was in the ravine because it was near his last phone ping and the direction they thought he must have taken they was right. They just couldn't get to him. Honestly I just think back when his dad said we will need an army to search this place ... I'm not surprised they took a month to find him they couldn't even get his dead body out they had to airlift it , I'm sure I see another Jay in my lifetime. The question I have is what possessed him to go the wrong way, not wait the bus,, go on a hiking track drugged up, lost, no battery ... Was he this stupid? He clearly needed a family holiday with his mum.

I don’t even think he needed to have climbed upwards. There looks to be plenty of spots on that trail where you can get the wrong footing, lose your balance, or suffer a load of gravel slipping underfoot resulting in a substantial fall severe enough to break multiple bones and cause a fatality.

I don't understand why Jay thought for one minute that if he was able to get to the coast, that he would have been able to walk along a beach all the way back to Las Americas, when 80% is none beach area's. So sad.

It was his first time abroad. He had no knowledge of the terrain. He probably caught a glimpse of the blue sea and thought it would be a seafront like los Christianos. He could have thought all sea areas are the same with a beach. Poor lad. He must have been terrified.

I just feel like there’s so much more to this story. I just don’t believe anyone would be that stupid, even after a night out on the drugs… you make silly choices but to try and tackle that walk after a night out in a foreign country… makes no sense and I’m telling you now the two men who were last with him know more than what they’re saying. This may be an accidental death from a fall but I honestly believe he was in trouble some how and had no choice but to try and get away as quick as possible.
Some people are that high they believe they can do anything. You lose your inhibitions when you take alcohol or drugs. So sad rip jay💙
People make bad decisions every day. Accidents happen every day. Usually those bad decisions have no long term effects. Occasionally they are fatal.
@@MichelleAfterDark I did just that, lived to tell the tale, a freak accident fell 70ft and landed on my feet, broken collar bone is all I succumb to landing on my feet then rolling forward with outstretched arm. Lucky, very lucky.
There is no mystery here so stop looking for it. People make poor decisions all the time clear headed so there is no reason to believe someone who didn't have all his faculties wouldn't make these choices.

Great video, ive been asking myself why would he go along the top of the ridge if he was trying to get to sea level? Naturally you would try to go down. Maybe the vegetation was too thick at the bottom of the ravine and he tried to go up and around in order to avoid it, but then slipped whilst trying to find a better route. What im really puzzled about is why he left the air bnb in what seems like a rush?

Why is an older map more detailed?
Intuitively you would think the opposite with better technologies.
I've found this in a lot of situations, the Summer Wells case being one. I don't know why some older maps have more detail, but it's always worth checking

The Barranco Juan Lopez is a hiking trail. Many people have walked it from the road down to the beach and back. Just look on All Trails or Strava. Yes its not for everyone but its not a perilous ridge or all this mountaineering bs as people are claiming. I’ve done it myself and it was a 6h round trip to the beach and back including a rest on the very secluded beach!
The path is easy. Deviate from that and it’s easy to come to the same fate at Jay! 🙏🏽💙👍🏽

Once i found out where Jay fell. I went to look for hikers videos and a lot people did that trail including little dogs and children so as I commented before anyone could do it BUT if he was intoxicated then of course he could lost his balance on the steep ravine. So it’s very possible that he really fell But then there is other things that happen that it’s possible that his body was placed there too.
I don’t believe it’s possible to haul a dead body 2.5 hours over a ravine and drop a body… it’s just not realistic
@@claireee6958 I think the boats come every so often to get the hikers from the beach and take to land so it’s possible a boat could be used to take the body to the beach and body dragged to the bottom the ravine, it could explain Paul heard all the animals been disturbed by something in the early hours, then the next day police had a tip off, body located on Saturday and recovered on Monday.
we need to keep on this train of thought - only the people actually viewing the hikers videos can work this out. you need to see the terrain to realise all the official stories do not make sense.

Hi Michelle -Poor Jay. I don't think he fell to the base of a cliff cause then the family could have reached and marked his final resting place. I think he fell but then got hung up on the cliff on a ledge or crevice which is highly dangerous to access. So I think he was high -probably on ridgeline.
Makes more sense to me now why he was heading the wrong way coz of Apple maps sending him that way and why he took the decision to head into the ravine.

On that day where it was said that a phone was found on the Lopez beach I googled and took a look at the map, what I have seen was that there was a river on the map barranco Lopez that was why I had the idea that he could have taken this route, logically water finds his way down. Possibly it is exactly that route because of the green wilderness. I thought that this phone was relevant to this case, and now it is not ? That wonders me. And isn’t it somehow dubious that Ayubs mates name is Rocky? Makes me keep thinking…

I feel it’s more than likely he climbed up to see where to go and slipped :-(
Maybe he stayed on the Zig Zag dirt track all the way to its end - which still heads generally towards the sea and would be much easier going than the Juan Lopez trail in the valley. I don't think the actual trail is signposted off the dirt track so would he have even seen it? Then he could have stayed to the North of the Juan Lopez on the higher ground gradually heading downwards. Eventually he could have arrived close to the top of the Ravine with no way ahead so he had the choice of somehow getting down to the bottom or turning back. He decided to risk the tricky descent ........
Hi Michelle, great to see one of your videos again. After watching this video I cant help but help having doubts Jay would have taken the ridge path. Everything u say has always made sense and of course Chris but why on this God given life would anyone take that route when they could have kept boots on the ground so to speak. Not ruling it out and I'm not anyone to talk but for me it makes it more suspicious? Love ur videos, voice, clarity. But the route to the fall leaves me a little bit confused. It also doesn't really rule out their b&b owner who I have always been suspicious off. Ang decent human would have stopped and pointed if lack of communication in the opposite way. Ophelia knew where he was heading. Nor does it rule out all of Lucy's weird antics, Lucy's blanket, and of course hoot and toot that were staying in the b&b. Why are they in the middle of nowhere when u watch them on video there not quite, hikers or any of the sort? I have always thought that was a stash premises and ophelia alerted them he left. Ive always thought as u say , he has walked down the valley then just before he got to the v part, he climbed up the the left side which is perfectly walkable , its also the direction home and he may have wondered if the next valley is walkable. Then as u say ftom near the top of the ridge he may have tried to walk down , slipped and the momentum has just taken him onwards over the edge . Personally i w ould be tempted to take a look up that left hill bit before the v just to have a visial look around for easier route . As we know he has no map at this point

This is a very interesting theory. Is this a common occurance....falling off ravines while asleep? If they die from the fall how do we know if they were asleep. How many woke up during the fall? How many were awake the whole time?

I'd also like to know how he got out of a ditch with a cut leg after 8.50am to walk two and a half hours further to fall into a ravine.
Since he'd only set off at 8.20 allegedly he could not have even left the road by 8.50. someone needs to revise timelines

I think you can get to the gorge from the sea more easily than to walk down to it. It makes more sense that he either was placed there just before cops found his body, his body was never there (the cops refuse to say where he was found) or he was placed there that night after an encounter on the beach and he died in that gorge. How his clothes came to be right beside him after a tremendous fall is hard to fathom too.
There is absolutely no way he walked along there. I'm now 49 years old but in my teens and 20s I was a raver and took all the substance that comes with it. I wouldn't have been doing any ridge walking in that state

The Jusn Lopez trail is approximately two miles long from the road to the beach, The ravine starts maybe half way along that route
Seemed windy there. Yeah. In a ravine it have it's own micro climate though wouldnt it, like a more sheltered tunnel or wind tunnel? Either direction it be picked up from up or down the ravine? Odd.
Can you find out the position of the boat that went up and down the beach in a video and see which part it stop at before going back and switching off

I think you’re spot on with this. As the Dutch team were working with the family, they would have gave them some dirty washing of Jays to work with. I’ve not heard or seen anything from all this to explain anything else.

Whilst I agree that it's unlikely that Jay actually walked along the ridge, I feel it was worth giving this consideration.
Both the Sun and the Mail, and perhaps other newspapers, have given this same route.
And let's not forget that the Mail wrote this:

clips what hikers have shared are on the next ravine to the right, photos come up on Google map, I think he stayed ground level carried on after the path ends & went down 😔
wonder if he followed the hikers trail on the right ravine, you can walk along the top of that, on Google earth people have uploaded photos in different locations

He was killed much earlier. Lets see if they find his hotel key as ayup said he lost his key. Also host of the air b&b he told jay the way back, then saw him 20min later still going in the wrong direction. I believe the morning of jay leaving ayubs place was not jay but someone else imitating him. Jay was dead just after leaving the club. who ever called lucy and brad that morning was not jay.all those involved left their own phones in certain places to cover their alibi's.find the blanket and the car very crucial to solving the case

FINALLY! At last - someone is actually applying common sense by watching the videos of the actual trail! You are the ONLY only online creator going to this bother. It is essential to fully understand what has happened. I have constantly said that I do not believe Jay walked along the top of that narrow ridge.
You are still going by accidental death. How about if he was taken via some of the water tunnels via the other ravine - have you looked at the youtube video of the 2 gay men doing the trip from masca into tunnels and coming out in the next ravine up? They have a few. There is also the possibility that Jay was taken to the location via the beach which is slightly less difficult than actually walking into the ravine from the other end. There is still much to investigate.
Re the dogs - consider that they different dogs had different skills and they switched from one to the other. The cadaver dog/s taking over once into the ravine. I agree with you about any dog following a trail from AirBnB to the last ping etc. None of it fits in with the messages. Think of the timescale? As in Jay putting on his location and the time of the phone calls. He would not have had enough time to get from bnb up that road on to the place where the phone pinged. Signi said 2.5hrs - that time did not elapse between leaving bnb and getting to the phone ping area and the place of death and also does not fit with the message saying Brad saw the white road blocks and the slipping. You would not dangerously slip anywhere on the road chris tenerife shows us. Keep thinking and keep up the amazing work.
I believe Jay was alone and not taken to the ravine by anyone else. Jay's mistake was thinking the shore was easier to get to than it was. It's an understandable conclusion because from the road the sea looks just beyond the rocky bit. The route from the Air B&B to his phone ping is approx 30 minutes, so the timeline we have been given makes total sense. I have a video on this. He spoke to Brad about 8.30am and at that time he had just left the road. We don't know what time he made it to the ravine. The white blocks are on the side of the road. You are mistaking the road with the ravine. Yes the Malinois that is pictured close to where he indicated Jay's body to have been is a cadaver dog. My issue as I stated yesterday and today is with the Dutch team saying a live scent tracker followed Jay's scent.

My theory is that he was sent to the airbnb for a reason. Then he realised he wasn't safe there because of either the two guys or a third party chasing him. He was probably then told or he devised the plan to go down to the sea to be rescued by a boat.
Michelle wouldn't a dog be able to track both scents because I read here. Cadaver dogs are trained specifically for decomposition. Search and rescue dogs can track a living and/or deceased persons scent. There is some overlap as time and environmental factors can play a role of their uses.
Then it also says : According to handlers I’ve spoken with, cadaver K9s work best in a small localized area where human remains are already expected. They’re weakest when ‘ranging.’ For example if LE suspects a lost hiker died in a state park somewhere, expecting a K9 team to randomly track to the body in a 5000+ acre plot is seldom effective.
