Custom Widebody kit and LS swap!

  • Today we get back to work on the LS swapped Honda. We figure out where an oil leak is coming from and get the motor back together and put back into the car. Also, we move into bodywork and custom fit a hood. Once the hood is fit we have a decision to make, and I would like to hear your input. Finally, we get into fitting the widebody pieces onto the bumper from the fenders. Thanks for watching and let me know what you think.

    I wouldn’t bother making a bulge , you can easily grab a few pre made hood scoops. If it starts to bother you in the future do a second hood with a scoop or make it removable

    You should try to cut on the natural hood body lines, and raise that entire section up to clear. That way there is that oem look to it all. Almost like an old school muscle car scoop.

    @conifer9879 Před 2 lety +8

    I definitely like the minimal look. I think its a total improvement over the last design. The open idea might be the best. I think a scoop would add more bulk unless you made it like perfectly formed or something.

    I like the hood cutout..you could make a simple and removable rain cover out of a sheet of magnet (like people use for track day door numbers). The hood is square and flat if you got a big sheet you could just slap it on and off and with a heat gun you could even form the bulge into it. IDK, just a thought!

    I think it needs a bulge or a scoop. The wavy opening does not suit the 80’s lines of the car. Is there a bulge you could cut from the hood of another car that’s already made that would save you some fabrication?

    Id personally wanna cover it some how but maybe more like with some premade hood scoop or something you could fiber glass onto the hood? Doesnt look bad at all but hard to say what would be more subtle if your trying to keep it kinda sleeper style. Either way its cool to see the honda back in the shop and coming along! I love this build. Always wanted to do a rear wheel drive prelude, that was my first honda. Still miss that car!

    You should check out Bello's Kustoms on youtube. What you need is a planishing hammer on a stand. If she were mine I'd put a gentle tear drop shaped lid on that hood and seam weld metal in. I like the hump. I'd do the scoop in between the center of the body lines on the hood. Kinda like the D1 hood. They actually sell a universal d1 hood scoop. That would look sick and aggressive with the lip kit your fiberglassing.

  • @mikehensley7468
    @mikehensley7468 Před 2 lety

    The ultimate achievement would be to use an oem hood and have it fit without cutting. If you used risers on the hood hinges and then used fiberglass to extend the edges to make up the difference...
    Ive been following hush performances development of a hybrid hood where they use the usdm and jdm hood for the crx to make a fiberglass hood that will clear the bigger B16a valve cover. I think you have just as much experience with fiberglass that u might be able to apply that method to this build... It would also go perfect with the wide body kit!

  • @adman6380

    You could move the power steering reservoir to clean up or make the hood cut out smaller

  • @eriqrosado3337
    @eriqrosado3337 Před 2 lety

    I think if you space the rear of the hood with some hood risers good ol’ eBay special. And then also get one of the D Max style vent cut out so you have a functional vent in the hood and if need be just cut out the two or so slats you’d need to clear the throttle body and intake tube.
    I also just thought of the vent some use for like a V mount set up, think it’s one from an evo X. set the vent right over the throttle body and tube. Think those would make for some cool functional vent in the hood that also clears the stuff you’ve got just poking out the hood now. Hope these ideas come across clear? Hope they help if it is translating correctly…? 🤞🏽🤞🏽

    I like the idea of using an eclipse style hood bulge. I think it will affect the car's lines the least. One thing I am wondering is why you would cut out the hole to fit around the power steering reservoir instead of remote mounting it? Also, are there aftermarket fuel rails or intake that are lower profile so you wouldn't need to cut for those as much or at all? And, if you got a dry sump setup would you be able to lower the motor enough to not need any external hood cutting at all?
