This battle was a major hurdle for me as well. It marks that time of Arknights for me where my typical strategy of "murder conga line" stopped working, and i was finally forced to actually think. Didn't manage to, of course, because even if EN can occasionally read, selEN still can't think, so had to resort to a guide.
@@selensewar Haha true, but I try to avoid that since I do want to learn. Although I do ask for tips or hints once in a while! It is quite satisfying when I figure it out or complete it with minimal help.

Year One player here. You would not believe how much I malded on Frostnova's CM stages. This was back when our arguably best Boss killer units were Silverash, Eyjafjalla, Skadi and Schwarz (though Schwarz is really hard to use against FrostNova) because of her weird range). We didn't have units like Thorns or Mountain yet, and units that could cleanse status effects like Chill/Freeze didn't appear until the beginning of Year Four. Her randomized special attack that locks out tiles also messed up a lot of my initial attempts to auto-farm her stages back in the day. Good times. But I'm glad we have a much more diverse roster these days. Back then, if you had Silverash or Eyja, you were golden and could brute-force stuff if you had to. If you didn't have them, you'd either have to be big-brain or suffer. XD

Especially in Year One and Two, Kyostin used Melantha a TON in his low-level guides because at max Trust she has one of the highest Attack stat values in the entire game. This was especially true in Year One when certain high-attack low-speed archetypes like Besiegers, Crushers, or Mystic Casters didn't exist. So because he used her so much, "Deploy Melantha here" and "active Melantha skill [sic]" were his two most iconic catchphrases that the community meme'd.
I'm a year one and I remember FrostNova being the first boss that didn't allow you to leave operators out and about but I was fortunate enough to have blaze (when she was OP) Love seeing players coming up with strategies that were impossible back then❤
Seeing this makes me infinitely relieved that I started this game way later! I don't think I would be able to get through anything without Mountain tbh. haha
first map (before therapists) I put a medic in front to bait the bombs and then had my line two tiles back. and a second line two tiles behind that to deal with any leaking air. Frostnova is elite 2 25 so yeah e2 a unit and use typhon s3 to remove frostnova. then redeploy her to help the main lane. what I did the first time was hold her down with gravel and 3 Marksmen snipers until she dies. it was cursed and it involved RNG and I might have been e2 at the time. I recall doing it with metoer, kroos and blue poison. and some bodies middle lane I held with saria and lappland, bottom lane was blaze (facing up)
Ooo, good to know! Honestly, there are just so many good operators to the point that it gets a little overwhelming to remember. Hopefully, I can try out Durin in the future since it's fun to borrow!

Bruuuh myrtle isn't e2 yet also you're lappland. How can you deal e1 fighting this boss without e2 in your squad. Here's the tip to take her down always put defender as last ops so she target the last deployed and her trait will inflict cold and just desame in chapter 4 before, now more powerful in chapter 6 her second form will deal more damage and now splash slash damage all your units and inflict cold status effect. Get ready for the next hardest chapters
@@Dwarven2408 🤣 Well I reached that far without E2 and people kept telling me that Chapter 6 would be impossible without E2, so I went for it anyways. In any case, I technically already completed Chapter 6 boss stage on stream, but that VOD will come out later on my channel.

Dang, that sounds absolutely painful! I'm very glad that I started playing the game years after it was released. Makes it a little bit better for me.
