MSC Virtuosa - Day 1 - Embarkation, cabin tour and Tacos!

- Well hello there! Welcome to our latest vlog series onboard MSC Virtuosa!

We begin the day by walking from the Novotel Southampton to the Cruise terminal building. The check in process was brief, with a quick check of our insurance, vaccination, and covid test paperwork.
We had a little incident on boarding from a member of staff; but we discuss that in the vlog, but before we get into that, we head to the pool area to grab a quick cocktail before our cabin was ready! Of course, we also visited the buffet for a bite to eat!
We got into our cabin at about 3pm, perfect for a quick cabin tour! We were in a balcony cabin and we loved it! It was very modern, clean, and comfortable.
The safety procedures on board were very unclear, not one person we spoke to onboard knew what exactly we would have to do for the muster drill / safety video, so we just waited around until finally there was an announcement telling us to head to our muster station and scan our key card. It was very unorganised with people struggling in large queues down stair cases, very odd when MSC were also preaching about the social distancing onboard. Very odd.
Anywho, lets talk Hola Tacos, we decided to go to a speciality (additional cost) restaurant as we were both in the mood for Mexican food. The food served here was cooked to perfection and was so tasty! Dan only ended up eating some beef nachos, but loved those too!
After a brief exploration of the ship, we headed back to the buffet for some desserts, then back to the cabin for a chilled evening. There was a crazy storm outside as we sailed away from Southampton, but made for some awesome photography!

Enjoyed this vlog. Was shocked about your experience with the staff shoving you and being completely rude about the camera. MSC is probably the cruise line Im least likely to go on. But maybe you will both change my mind? Thank you for showing Iona, the sunset bar at the back was were I spent such happy times meeting new people a few months ago while the kids were in kids club x
When did you go on this cruise?
Goodness Dan, that was assault! Take photographs of your bruises and inform reception that you want to report this to the authorities on your return. Make sure they have noted the incident and are taking you seriously. Also demand the name of the guy who pushed you. This is very serious, and although it shouldn't dominate your cruise it shouldn't be allowed to happen full stop to you or anyone else. Unfortunately if they'd of pushed me (vulnerable) then I'd of probably had more injuries. We're due to board Virtuosa in October and this has made me quite anxious. Also ( health &safety) your bruise should be documented in the 'accident ' book, accident or not- in this case. Wishing you a wonderful holiday from now on xx
Sorry to hear about your experience on MSC, that's why I will NEVER cruise them as i have heard this sort of thing many times. Ships might look good but no customer service. There are far too many other excellent cruise lines that treat people better. Hope you made the most of your trip.
What travel lodge did us stay in .
Do you have to have a special package to get the bath robes and slippers or they always included please?

Thanks for this video, I’d heard bad things about MSC customer service, I can strike them from my list. Shame because the rooms look nice. Hope you managed to enjoy yourself
I don’t suppose you remember when you were boarding if they let liquids through security? I have anxiety and always like a bottle of water with me but scated they’ll make me throw it out (plastic bottle)
Hi! We had bottles of water in our hand luggage/backpack and had no issues in security.

Wait you’re in the msc ship to?
In Lisbon we had a lady crying her eyes out, almost begging to transfer to our ship (Ventura) from Virtuosa because of , allegedly, the food was bad or non existent. A lot of illness on board and 6000 passengers on a medium size ship. Hoping this was an isolated opinion and not the truth
I hope you complained to MSC when you finished your cruise, all passengers should be treated with respect.
Ben and David had the same issue with rude staff telling them they can’t film 🤯😡
So sorry you guys had such a horrible experience on boarding. It is totally unacceptable to treat passengers who aren’t in the yacht club like second class citizens. While I sail a lot with MSC I must admit that their customer service is not the best, I purely sail with them because their prices can’t be beaten. Props to you for not letting this experience ruin your cruise though. Great vlog btw.
The same issues happened to Ben and David the cruise vloggers on that ship. They had a terrible experience with the staff being abusive and rude and about filming. Said it was the worse cruise they had been on. This put me off going on a MSC Cruise
Manners cost nothing...the way you were treated is unacceptable...
MSC is not worth it. Not even for free/comped.
The service is so slow that you can never get your drink package/money’s worth
And the food.. The food is what you expect from the Golden Corral 👎🏻
