I have a peace lily from my father's 1996 funeral, which is amazing, because I've killed a lot of plants with extreme love and extreme neglect. The lily has been transplanted repeatedly, and at present is divided between 3 planters. I haven't named it/them, but I have spoken to them as if they hold my dad's spirit. My poor succulent is trying to hold on in our triple digit summer. Maybe if I name her, she'll find a reason to keep living? I'll call her Hope. Hey, Wayfair - Caroline is highly engaging. Pay her well. Gonna check out your monsteras now (which I didn't even know you sold, thanks Caroline!)
Caroline is awesome! She knows how to bring a lot of information and mixes it well with a little dose of “funny”. Please continue these series with her!! I used to have over 100 plants of all sizes, no succulent or cacti, when I was young and still lived in Berlin. My mom started to count, but stopped at 100 when she lived at my apartment while I was on vacation. The 1800 sq ft apartment had 10,5 foot ceilings and the perfect natural light everywhere. My co-workers knew I loved plants and would bring theirs to me instead of throwing them in the trash. Unfortunately I could not bring my pants with me when I moved to the States. Just recently finally bought a Monstera and she is doing really well :))) Guilty! I name a lot of my plants and talk to them often when I water. I have a pink and a purple African Violet that carry my grandparents first name. My grandfather loved plants too. He grew unique African Violets and had this huge gum tree. Every time I see these plants I think of my Grandfather. An old german wisdom … “Stay vigilant of people who do not like plants and animals”. My life experience taught me that this is true. Love Wayfair!!! Great products and a one of a kind customer service!!

Only plants I’ve ever owned have been plastic fake ones, but in early April of 2023 I purchased a young Monstera Deliciosa five months later and he’s getting quite big with now three fenestrated leaves. I have him staked out with Bamboo and garden tape and his pot is on a kitchen stool so he gets full access to the south facing window. And too keep him company I have since bought a Pothos Marble Queen and a Global Green Pothos and they are both on a single bar stool at the same south facing window 😊.
Caroline, please do one on the martini pitcher. Ever since you talked about fruit water, I've been using my 1967 wedding present pitcher, which has never seen a martini.
Hmmm well it’s wonderful that Millennials have rediscovered what the hippie generation embraced before them! Homes overflowing with plants were a huge boomer phenomenon when the millennials were not yet a twinkle in the eye (or whatever that saying is). Homes of hippies, flower children, rock musicians, artists etc. of the late 60s & 70s were packed with hanging plants, trees, palms, ferns etc. The current craze has nothing on this era when our homes were veritable jungles.

My family always had an assortment of plants and garden stuff growing up, even in a city, so I didn't really notice the shift. But the only thing keeping me from going full Plant Mom is the space limitations in my current apartment (and my less than stellar caretaking history). But I've got a surviving pothos and goldfish plant, and getting a big monstera is at the top of my list the next time I move.
I have six Monsteras and continue to propagate even though I have no where to put them. I would give some away, but can't find anyone worthy of my plant babies.😊
My beautiful monstera is named Morticia, my kangaroo ferns are Kanga and Roo, I have Carson, Phil, Simone, Chris,Ivy and gorgeous. But I need help naming my pencil cactus, I just haven’t hit on the right one.

Hi! Mostpeople doesn't know that we can earthe fruits from the monsrtera. That's why it's called deliciosa (delicious). If you want to know how to eat it just ask in an answers. It pretti taste and looks like a chirimoya.😉
clean and geometric? i think not. as the moderator of a huge FB group about house plants, i’ll say that, yes, it’s popular. there are passing phases of popular plants, monsteras not the first or the last, but currently i’d say holding the lead, especially in its rarer cultivars, the Albo for one, with people paying hundreds for a node (a chunk of stem) which hopefully they can nurse into a full sized plant. the downsides are size and utter wildness. people buy a cute little plant like you showed and, well, it’s not called monstera for nothing. in Florida, where it can be grown outside in landscaping, groundskeepers will periodically come and hack it with a machete to keep it under control. indoors, if it’s growing well, the same will happen. it’s massive and messy, it throws out long long air roots randomly, has leaves that face this way and that, rarely Instagram worthy. many a plant mom has been daunted by the monstera.
Caroline, I know what you did to that calathea your sister gave you. In your defense calatheas are drama queens, but putting it by the fireplace was an act of violence. I know you're not a planty person but I hope that monstera you're repotting in this video made it to your living room! As you yourself said, they're low maintenance! Open yourself up to the plantyness! Join the green side!
