- Nvidia’s greatest graphics card was also their biggest mistake because it was so good there hasn’t been any real reason to upgrade from it since but is it’s time now coming to an end? Let’s take a look at the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080Ti in 2023 and see.

6 years later still a beast
It is an amazing GPU. Still a beast.
nahh man. no more active pascal driver development, made this age like milk 💀
Beast LMAO...
@@Dr.WhetFarts it was released 6 years ago,its still decent
@@Dr.WhetFarts u dont need better card than 1080 ti for 1080 p gaming
The 1080 Ti is truly a special GPU. I'm glad I own one still (currently in my brother's PC). I believe it's Nvidia's best ever GPU.
The best GPU I've ever had! I've upgraded to a 7900 XTX and gave it to my daughter, and she is playing everything that she wants, even new games, better than her other colleagues that have 2060 or even 3060 cards! The beast of the best!
My dream card! Only took 6 years before I could afford one lol
It's yours now though so it's all cool.
If you enable FSR in Last of Us and Starfield, you can lock the framerate at 30 FPS at 4k high. Maybe lower a couple settings to minimize drops. That is extremely impressive when you consider how the PS5 and XSX runs those games. Upgraded to an RX 6800 a couple months ago. But i still love my old Founders edition 1080 Ti.
These Founders Editions do look so nice. I will have a bit more of a play around with it and FSR.
great video brother !!! first time i have got one of ur vids recommended in a long time
😯 Would explain the low views for a while then. Thanks for watching and glad you liked it 😊
got the 2017 titan xp back in 2019 shares same core with the 1080ti more cores unlocked and faster vram and1gb more vram still holds up grate in 1440p
Still rocking my strix 1080 ti, not thinking of an upgrade yet either since it handles everything I throw at it in 1440p.
Sweet! Strix model will be nice as well.
alan wake 2, cyberpunk, lords of the fallen,... 💀
@@BaBaNaNaBa Personally not interested in any of those games so not a problem for me 😌
@@janosmaiden8219wake up mate, it's not relevant considering that 1080ti used 250+ watt😢
My Strix 1080ti couldn't keep up with my new Aero Varjo VR head set. It ran my Oculus Rift with ease.
I gave the rift s and the 1080ti to my son. Strix 4090 OC replaced it. I had that card for 7 years.
Ironically the saying "they don't make them like they used to"
The Last GPU the Age pre-Ray Tracing.
11GB of VRAM and adequate 1080P performance keeps this card - and the 2080Ti - appealing in 2023. Right now for used Nvidia cards with more than 8GB of VRAM you have the choice of 1080Ti, 2080Ti and 3060 12GB all for a very similar price of around £200ish. Would love to see a direct shootout between all three of these budget options, obviously 2080Ti wins out in performance but there's other metrics to consider especially if using for things besides gaming.
I'm still running my 1080ti ftw3, although i am building a new PC soon.
My two old rigs(i7 4790, i7 8700) are still in best condition, one has that same GPU and the other a TitanX.
Sadly had to retire the Titan card and replace it with a 4080 super a few days ago mainly because of AI computing which requires tensor cores.
Still using this card for testing new games and it was truly a beast!
It does seem a great card still. Can't wait to get it back out and on the test bench again. How are you finding it in the latest and greatest, I heard FSR can really help them out now and again.
I bought one yesterday for my second hand budget build am4 pc, it will replace the also still ticking 1070
Ive got an ASUS ROG version of the 1080ti in my gaming in my living room entertainment center boost clocked to 2025mhz at 67 degrees Celsius on a Samsung Q90T 55". It currently runs Batman Arkham Knight and Star Wars Jedi Survivor in full 4k 60hz HDR on the highest settings (Only Mafia Remastered Edition won't run at 60fps with highest settings in 4k but it holds 70fps at 1440p with highest settings) I've been tempted to upgrade but I still haven't seen a reason to. It even runs Arkham Knight with all the Nvidia Gameworks stuff turned on but I turn off the "enhanced" light cones and "interactive smoke" because it looks stupid, but it runs with it all on at 60 fps.
I'm still useing my 1070 for Battlefield @ 2K
TechLabUK : but not the FE edition....it had constant thermal throttle issues on the GPU voltage->clock side as well as on the VRM-s side. Those both areas went above 95 C and above 120 C.
I just like the look of the FE :)
@@TechLabUK then Nvidias marketing has done a good job on you. Think of it this way that they've successfully sold you only on an exterior design while under the hood this is the crappiest product on the market in terms of completely underdesigned cooling. This is smth that consumers should allows Nvidia to do. If they sell you the design, well at least it should be satisfyingly performing instead of trying to kill itself PCB components every time it is efficiently utilized.
Still running an EVGA GTX 1080Ti, and its behaved flawlessly for the last 4 and a bit years... Super quiet, I rarely hear it, and I do play games at 4K... I am about ready to upgrade now though, and looking at either a top end Radeon, or the 4080 if they drop the price a little... Yes I know the Super/Ti is coming, but I doubt it'll be cheap..:)
Yeah, the Supers wont be cheap. Good to know the 1080Ti lasted you this long. Great card.
Do you have a FTW 3? Because I have one too and it's a beautiful card
the 40 supers are supposed to have a lower MSRP than the current cards, but when those come out prices on the current ones will drop so best to wait and see
@@Jhet It was indeed a FTW, and has to date been the best card I've ever bought..:)
The GTX 1080Ti has a speciel place in my heart. Such a masterpeace of a card!
True.
Really wanted it when it came out but couldn't afford it at the time. Now I'm looking to buy the EVGA 1080ti FTW3 for a collection, found 1 a few month ago but the dude wanted 250$ so passed on it, will keep looking. Already got an EVGA 980ti classified and EVGA 2080ti FTW3 ultra.
Nice, I like collecting things like this too. Sounds like you are going to have an awesome collection.
I got a 1080ti FTW3 recently from a college student, daily driving it and I see no need to upgrade for a while.
I'm running an EVGA 1080TI FTW3 right now in this PC. I am building a new one soon though because its 10 years old now my PC lol.
My Intel Core i7-5930K died a month ago after almost 10 good years of constant O.C. at 4.5 GHz so I built a gaming new system with AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and I'm still using this 1080Ti card from Asus ROG. Best card I've ever invested.
Had an evga sc2 1080ti for a while. Ended up getting a 3080 and selling the ti to a friend but wish I hadn’t. Just ordered a founders edition 1080ti for the pc I’m building my gf for Christmas. Excited to have one again. Won’t be getting rid of this one.
This one sits proudly on the shelf now lol Such a good looking card it's hard to let go of them.
I still have 2 of them. One in my daughter's 2nd Pc and the other in my wife's computer. My daughter uses her rtx 3090 for rendering and games on the 1080 ti. My wife doesn't game. I could sell hers, but I simply can't bring myself to do it. I love that card.
They seem to be the cards to keep hold of, since getting this one I have seen similar selling on Ebay for £50 more than I paid.
built my pc with two 1080s about 2 months before the ti came out, was a little upset when they hit the shelves. i figured since nvidia hadn't already released the ti that they would just skip it in favor of the 20 series... lol
Makes sense really. I bet 2x 1080s was good though.
kinda, it was amazing when you could get it to work, but i didn't know SLI was a dying technology at the time and half of the stuff it was supposed to work with just.. didn't, without being a huge hassle
@@Crunkmaster That’s a bit annoying 🙁
Owning a GTX 1080Ti from Gigibyte white editon Turbo. great card cs2 1080P 300FPS and other AAA Games EZ... good card still no need to replace i dont use this Ray Tracing anyway..
2023, shall i look for 5700xt, 1080ti or 3060?
I bought one of these around 2018, the cheapest one going on eBay that worked. It was incredibly noisy, so I popped an aftermarket Nzxt g12 cooler on it and it was spot on after that. The performance was astounding! I had a normal 1080 before that and the difference was night and day. I only upgraded it this year due to wanting high fps at 1440p, so bought a 7900xtx instead. The 1080ti lives on though in my daughter’s PC, as it’s still a champ for 1080p gaming.
Did you find it easy enough to install the G12? I do have one in stores somewhere, might dig it out.
i got a asus strix 1080ti from ebay at arround 550 euro. great deal in 2020 :-)
i'm still gaming on a GTX 1080Ti
Great display adapter🥰🥰
I gave mine to my brother on his birthday and got a 3060 for myself as i wanted dlss for 4k and lower power consumption
How does the 1080Ti and 3060 compare in non dlss / RT?
@@TechLabUK 3060 12gb about 5% slower
Ill use forza horizon 5 for example 45fps at the absolute maximum settings 4k on the 1080ti and the 3060 on the same settings 42fps
@@randomweirdyoutubechannel8955 Ahh cool. Never used one so interesting to know. Thanks 👍
@@TechLabUK no worries but my advice for the other viewers don't buy a 3060 if you have a 1070 or better next step should be 3080 or amd equivalent for a huge boost
I can't justify an upgrade because of how powerful this thing is.
I've just repasted my EVGA FTW3 1080 Ti 2 weeks ago, undervolted to 963mV, and added a custom fan curve to ramp up to 90% at 70°C. My temps never go above 70°C which is insane for a card of its generation
Might even get it lower once my 8 Arctic P12s arrive. I'm proud to own one, but also pretty annoyed because upgrading isn't a rational decision 🤣
If this card breaks, I'm hanging it up on the wall and will remember its glory
You won the system and beat Nvidia :)
yeah you are really dwelling in your beastly power for alan wake 2 with the overkill 1080 ti 😂
Im having same gpu, never repasted it and hotspot not ever over 67° 😃
@BaBaNaNaBa You keep commenting this as if everyone is playing the same three games you keep using as an example. How much do you hate your life exactly?
30/1/2024 i buyed this card in grecce at 220 euros i think it was a good deal gta v im getting 170 fps- 200 with i 5 9400f 16gb ram

The 1080ti is the goat of the past eight years at best. Those absolutely terrible eight years that have seen GPUs becoming more and more expensive -- whilst screens, storage, memory and even CPUs such a current gen Ryzen have just the same price tag as 15-20 years ago. In other words, the years where GPU manufacturing progress got pretty much axed: "The more you buy, the more you save!" By the way: Tech channels adjusting historical GPU prices for inflation 1:1 are doing company PR work for free.
Firstly: One reason why Pascal lasted so long is because it was released when new consoles were a good few years away. Ever since PS5/XBox Series X hit the market in 2020, more and more are hitting the minimum requirements, or falling below that, starting with GTX 1060/1070. Speaking of which, nobody would still be on Pascal if prices hadn't become that terrible. Alan Wake 2 wrecks the 1080ti as well.
Secondly: The actually GOAT are both the GeForce 4ti 4200. As well as the GeForce 8800 GT.
Both offering performance near the top end respectively -- at but a fraction of the cost. And THAT's a mistake that Nvidia is not gonna make for SURE. :-)
1080 ti for 1080p. It only makes sense. I could only afford the 1050 ti back then
Chads who still own the 1080 ti 😎

True, I don't think we will see another one of these for a long time.
starfield really showing how poorly its programed. dont expect much from LOU as its a port. cant wait for FSR 3.0 in starfield and cyberpunk. would love to see how things look with a 7800X3D
Yeah, the two games which are testing everything at the moment.
I still use this GPU. because I can't afford a new setup.
I haven't really re-visited it since this video (Maybe I should?) but back then it was enough for 99% of games so it's still a good card.

Barely a 1080p card in demanding games...
And Alan Wake is unplayable unfortunately
Pretty much. Covered that in a previous video :(
1080 Ti is outdated as fck for newer games.
@@Dr.WhetFarts I get avg 200fps in mw3 multi around 160 fps in warzone. Sadly the iw engine doesn't like this card for some reason.
1080 Ti runs like pure crap in many new games including Alan Wake 2 and has no option for DLAA or DLSS meaning you are forced to use FSR which is medicore in comparison. I'd say 1080 Ti is dead for new games really. For older ones, still decent. Owned a 1080 Ti from 2017-2020 but sold it for 3080 and it was a night vs day upgrade.
